DDA Chapter 11

I'm all caught up. Now it seems everyone left. :(

I am here too. Just got back from Giant. I spent this rainy day cooking all the food I bought last weekend. We have BBQed pulled pork for sandwiches (2 meals), Glynis' crock post pot roast (ate one meal tonight, have another one left), and herb roasted chicken breasts (6 ENORMOUS double breasts that will make 4 meals).

I went to the store and got the makings for chili and I will make that tomorrow. Kristin has 2 meals here that she can make over the next 2 weeks for dinner and Bob also has 2 meals he can make. So, we ought to be pretty much set for the next 3 weeks!

I am glad the house situation is working itself out. I know it was a real concern for you. :goodvibes

Really? We didn't lose power. At least Bob didn't say anything about it after I got home. He stayed with the kids while I went out and did my thing.

The power went out at the nail salon too (over by Wal-mart) and we had to move to the area closer to the windows. :rotfl:

Did you all see the hidden Mickey in the Soarin Minicot????

I only watched about 6 minutes into it.

I was just telling DH that DS and I saw a little thing on Disney Channel last night about the new Kingdom Keepers book. They had a short interview with the author of the book and he was saying if you look behind you in the Dinosaur ride that there is stuff to see. Has anybody ever turned around on that ride? It is all I can do to face forward and not hurt my back. I guess the new book is set in AK?

Thanks. Will you come over to my house and prepare meals for all of us? ;) :flower3:

we just got a phone call that theres a fire with firemen on the roof where my brother is working--he tpyically goes on the roof and its SO windy...so here i sit, waiting for him to get down and call! oui!

Prayers and pixiedust: that all goes normal while putting out the fire.

I missed the hidden Mickey in the Minicot Soarin' too. I will need to go back and look.

Jen - I hope you hear from Joe soon.

Elizabeth - It never even occurred to me to turn around on the Dinosaur ride! I am not certain I will try it either!

Those videos that the guy made of his Soaring and Illuminations were really awesome :goodvibes

A friend of mine has the DVD of his live performance in DC. He is hysterical!

I bought 3 or 4 of his DVD's at Virgin Records when we were at Disney. I have seen most of his stuff at least once but I can't help but laugh hysterically when I watch it.

Today I went to Michael's and I got 2 16x20 collage frames, with room for 10 pictures in each. My intentions are to make one with each of the kids photos in them. I'd like to start working on them tomorrow. It's going to be hard trying to decide which 10 out of almost nine years worth of pictures to choose.

Thanks. Will you come over to my house and prepare meals for all of us? ;) :flower3:

:rotfl2: Hey, it was the only way to be sure I had my share of the cooking done. I fell down on the job this past week and I don't want to have to stop and get any fast food over the next couple of weeks.

I find it is easier to cook in batches and portion it out. I also like to use the oven for more than one thing at a time, so there was some method to my madness today!

We go out every Wednesday and usually end up going out once on the weekends, so we should be OK now.

Hi all! It was a tough week at work going back after 20 days off. I haven't had that many days off since I was on maternity leave and never took that many off before that. I need to go in tomorrow to work on some month end August stuff. Then I really need to get rolling on the budget stuff.

Loved all the back to school photos! I'm still fighting with my Mac so I can't upload any new photos.

Jennifer-Loved all the photos of the girls. They are so precious! Lots of prayers for Joel and his wife.

Denise-safe travels!:wizard:

Janet & Elizabeth-I haven't ordered my photopass CD-I can add your chef mickey pictures to my account.

Glynnis-nice to hear things are going well for you & your little peanut.

Karen-Watkins is adorable! Hope his test results are negative.

Tom-Glad you're feeling better-hope you continue to improve! My DH one day forgot it was an early release day and Lizzy (1st grade) got off the bus and found noone home. Thankfully she had enough sense to go next door and DH was home shortly-but he felt horible. Good luck with airfare!:wizard:

Amy-hope you can get some rest/relief soon! Good luck to Kevin!

Elizabeth-good thoughts for your Mom!:wizard:

I could have sworn we same at least some of them when we went to SSR in August. I must be losing my mind:confused3
I think you might be losing your mind (or maybe I am....) but I didn't think you were in FL in August. One day we started the day at MGM then took the bus to POR then the boat to DTD for lunch. They were already building the new tree houses when we went by them.
You'll like this one too - we had a client call on tickets from Cleveland to Knoxville. One way BASE price (before taxes and fees and fuel surcharges) was $77. When you add all the taxes and fees and fuel surcharges, the ticket went up to $378.

Unfreakinbelievable.

(ETA: That's the final RT cost...so that's at 189 for a one way flight. More than doubled.)
:scared1: YIKES! I guess I did pretty good booking Jet Blue flights for my Feb trip. I wanted to go the first week of Feb but the flights for the weekend were too expensive ($219 one way) and I couldn't use frequent flyer miles. So I booked Wed 1/28 with miles and paid $94 for the flight home on Tue 2/3-I paid $5 for the "free" tickets and $209 for the 2 $94 flights with fees.

Janet.....the schools around here have major peanut moratoriums..they have designated tables for peanut free zones...so they would NEVER serve that for a student lunch....I have never heard of that with chili...I wouldn't be opposed to trying it though :)
We have MAJOR restrictions here. My kids are often in peanut free rooms so must bring peanut free snacks and if they aren't individual packages you need to sent a copy of the ingredient list-the kids have to leave your backpacks in the hall so the school nurse can inspect them before they enter the room. For birthdays they celebrate once a month for that month and the parents of those kids provide "approved" snacks. NO homemade snacks can be brought in for the class-no store bought cupcakes.

Sooooo...

You know how I said we wouldn't do concierge next summer? I lied. :rolleyes1
Today is our 11 month mark if we fly in on Thursday night. In all probability we won't go until Friday morning, but just for kicks I called to see if I could book a concierge studio for 7 nights. And I COULD!  Now I just need to call next weekend and try to add the last 3 nights. Once I have it secured we can hem and haw about which day to fly in and I can modify our arrival date if I need to. I figured it was a sign that I should book since I called almost 3 hours after they opened and they still had a concierge room available!
:woohoo:

Since we have to move our trip up now I am rethinking where we might stay. POR was great this trip but I would like to stay somewhere else next time. We have the AS suites booked but Bernadette's review made me think again. I like to give the Poly another try...Dana says CR is "too sterile" but I would like to stay there just once..I guess I will see what discounts are available when the time comes.
Really? What did I say (it must have been in my funk). I LOVED the room!!!! I had a few "issues" with the busses but you won't need to worry about that and I had some "issues" with them making us walk all the way around the building during a tropical storm but if I had my own car I would absolutely stay in the family suites again.

I LOVE the Poly! Easy access to both MK and Epcot. I thought the rooms were beautiful at CR but they weren't very practical-I hated the sinks there.

That is SO cool! I need to share that with some folks at work who think I'm crazy.

The ring bearer pillow is done! She did an amazing job:

...which was actually what my grandmother wore for her first communion too. :sad1: So I now have my something old. :flower3:
Beautiful!

We still had evacuees here on Thursday. I think about 160 at the Convention center, and some of them didn't want to leave! One couple didn't have a plan and didn't want to go back to New Orleans, so I guess they just thought they would stay in the Convention center until they were inspired to go somewhere else? :confused3 Then last night on the news they were showing people (not sure how many, at least 20 or so) who drove here from Louisiana in their own cars and got hotel rooms. Now they are saying they don't have any money to go home and they expect to be given money for gas, food, etc. because the evacuation was mandatory. On "viewers voice" there were quite a few Dallas residents who didn't understand why these people drove all the way to Dallas if they weren't going to be able to afford to drive back home! It was mandatory to leave certain areas of LA, not mandatory to drive all the way to Dallas and check into a hotel! And now with ANOTHER storm coming I think things may get ugly from multiple standpoints. :sad2:

You all were chatty since yesterday.

I spent most of the day in the beautiful weather feeding band kids...but we started the day off with Cassidy and I (and later Jim) fighting and it continued after we got back. I swear if she lives to her 17th birthday it will be a miracle.

For all of those who need it  and :wizard: . I read, but I've also been fighting a migraine, so comprehension is zilch.

Robyn cute pictures of Molly!

Elizabeth :cool1: for getting your room booked for next year!

Chanon your ring bearer pillow is perfect :goodvibes

Tom glad the weather is cooler & helping you feel better!

Jen I hope you hear from your brother soon :wizard:

Tammi sounds like everything is falling into place with your home!

Elin I am impressed with all the cooking you did today :thumbsup2
