DDA Chapter 11

Thanks for all the good thoughts for me & the kids. Katie seemed much better today. Daniel's nose bleed stopped & he fell right asleep. Today was his first day of school & he was very excited.

Dana accepted the offer for NC this morning...we will be moving to the Raleigh area over Christmas break.

I am :) and :scared: and :yay:

I can understand both emotions, but it seems like you and Dana have done your homework on this move, and it looks good!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

Can you all spare a few bits of pixie dust. It looks like Hanna is going to move up the coast near us Friday night into Saturday and from the path they are showing it will hit us from the west. Which is exactly where we don't want it to hit from. It obviously wont' be catastrophic but Isabel in 2003 was a TS and we ended up with 4 feet in the basement from just the storm surge.

Prayers being said! Let's hope that Hanna fizzles out!

Darling pictures, Karen!

I watched most of it. I tried to look at her very objectively since I am true Independent, in the most broad sense of the term. She surprised me. Without getting into any political talk I would say that McCain did his homework on this one. She is a very charismatic speaker who presents her side of the story extremely well.

I am also an independent. Chuck and Katrina were really impressed with her speech. I didn't get a chance to watch because I had to work last night. I did see her for about 5 minutes and what I saw I was impressed. For being inexperienced, she handled herself well.

I had my monthly doctor's appointment this morning, and things are really good! My blood pressure is finally excellent, and Peanut's heartbeat was perfect. I'm measuring where I should, and things are right where they should be! I had my blood drawn for a gestational diabetes test (I can't drink the glucose liquid because of my bypass), but they don't think there will be any problems, since I didn't have any with my other pregnancies when I was significantly overweight, and since I've lost all the weight, that is a point in my favor.

I was able to schedule my c-section for December 4th, so unless Peanut decides to come early, that will be his birthday! I'm so excited to have an actual "deadline!" Now, I just have to get everything ready!

Now, I'm off to make tuna noodle casserole. I am craving comfort food, and that sounds good to me!

Remember that she is a Communications major, and that she has pageant experience. I fully expect her to be articulate and engaging as a speaker because she has had so much training. She also had her speech ahead of time and had practiced it.

Glynis - Yay for being on track! December 4 sounds great!

DS had homework from 5 different teachers tonight. He is still working on it. The thing is, DH said DS chose to read for about 45 minutes before he completed his other tasks, so I can't really say that the teacher exceeded the 90 minute max. Ugh. :headache:

Even more :wizard: :wizard: that you don't loose power.
That stinks that the generator is gone.

We only have a crawl space, but our hot water heater is down there now. If we loose electricity we do have a generator.

As long as the electricity doesn't go out. That is my problem here. I have 2 sump pumps in my basement and worry about losing power. I used to have a generator, which we got after Isabel came through in 03, but that seems to have disappeared.

Sounds good Glynis. :woohoo:

Heck I not pregnant, and tuna noodle casserole sounds good to me. :thumbsup2

Congrats to Dana. Change is always all of the above!

Got confirmation that my cousin's boss was a suicide and it wasn't pretty, closed casket and then cremation.

And about 4 hours from the Outer Banks (same as for us!). Hmmmm... should we be looking for accommodations at the beach for next summer??? :goodvibes

I loved North Carolina. I went to a festival at the beach there about 15 years ago. If we retire out of Michigan, that is where I would like to go.

Anne Marie - Momboss's mom is an educational consultant. She lives in SC, but she travels ALL the time and goes to tons of conferences and things. I asked Momboss to see if she has any input for you.
She will be coming to town to look at all of the schools they are considering for Princess. She wants to evaluate them. :)

Maybe he'll come on the 2nd. That is Nicholas' bday. :goodvibes

I don't care how much experience she has....getting up in front of that crowd, and the entire nation via tv, has got to be terrifying.

That's me, especially when we are at WDW. I am always striking up conversations with people in lines, on the buses, CMs, etc. Bob just kind of stands there looking.
bored.gif

I have been that way since at least middle school. I had to force myself out of my shyness. I'm still shy inside. It makes the time go much faster to chat with people when you are waiting in lines. My girls used to get freaked out because when they were younger, we didn't seem to go anywhere without me knowing someone. I was always hugging "strangers" to them. We'd get home and they'd go on & on to Chuck about how mom was hugging someone yet again!!!!

I'm the same way. I'm not sure who I'll vote for, yet. I've got a lot of research to do before November comes.

I also have a lot of research before the election. It is so hard sometimes to do that research because it is hard to find really unbiased information. You can tell by the news coverage what political party that station supports. I don't care how much they say they are unbiased, I have yet to find a truly unbiased source.

Peter & the Starcatchers #3 is now available for preorder. It is supposed to be ready Sept. 16. I am going to have to order that as well as Kingdom Keeper #2. I also have to order Tales of Beedle the Bard from J.K. Rowling which can be preordered and will be released Dec. 4. I may actually have reading material this fall and winter!!!!!

I got an e-mail yesterday about a new initiative the school district and the city are doing.

The superintendent and the mayor are going to go door to door to the homes of kids who haven't shown up at school this year and invite them to come back. School has been back in session for 2 weeks!

They have volunteers staffing a phone bank today and tomorrow to call these kids, then on Saturday they will start the home visits. I can not imagine that the mayor showing up at the door is going to convince anybody to jump out of bed and show up at school on Monday, but whatever! :rotfl:

Glynis yea for a date for peanut, I just knew it would be while we are at Disney!
