I hope you continue to feel better.:wizard:

I did sleep much better last night. I think I only woke up about 6 times. I even got up with the boys and once they were off to school I went back to bed for a couple of hours. I really needed that sleep. It's amazing how changing one's diet can really mess with everything. So far today I haven't had a headache so maybe things are improving. I wonder how long it takes to get all the caffeine out of my system? Since I didn't get anything accomplished this morning I need to get going now. Lots of laundry to put away and rooms to straighten before work. I also need to finish Hunter's Lifeguard sweatshirt and hem a pair of pants for work.

He is too adorable!! :wizard: that he is just fine.

Watkins reminds me so much of our first dog. He is a real cutie. I can see his personality in the photos  I hope that he does not have the disease. Is it serious if he does have it?

  To all the east coasters. We are just expecting rain all day Saturday from Hanna. Thankfully we haven't had much rain over the last couple of weeks so the water should have places to go without causing flooding. I hope that you all have little to no impact too

Lucy is getting the hang of this walking thing. She has today taken a lot more steps each time. She is up to about 12 or so. It's so exciting yet so sad.

I need to get off of here and clean up the kitchen and make a pasta salad for dinner tonight.

I'll check back in later.

The problem here is that we haven't had considerable rain in months. The ground is so hard that the water won't be able to sink in, so it will run off quickly and easily. This will cause flooding.

Karen - Watkins looks great in the photos. I hope the tests come back negative for you all.

Cute puppy Karen. Hope the tests are negative.

 That's not good. We have had a very wet summer. So wet in fact that the leaves are already changing on many trees. A heavy rain may knock a lot of leaves off leaving things bare for foliage season. We are already expecting a weird season as many people book a year in advance and if they did so they will be too late to see the colors anyway.

So here is a photo of the shirt and sweatshirt I made for Hunter's costume

I think it looks pretty realistic. Of course having the son that weighs nothing be the lifeguard should put a comedic spin on it :rotfl:

And about 4 hours from the Outer Banks (same as for us!). Hmmmm... should we be looking for accommodations at the beach for next summer??? :goodvibes

I think Hal and I and the kids will be going down the same time next year as we did this year. Right before the prices go up.

I can't believe how quickly your trip is coming. I remember a ticker that was years away :rotfl: It sounds like you are getting everything in order :thumbsup2

Well there was the initial ticker which would still be about 3+ years away, but this one's been at least a wishful thinking one for over a year. I think that may be my new ticker after this trip. I'm not sure we'll be able to do much over the next year or two, just depends on the job situations for us both. So, I may just work on saving towards the all-kids trip a few years down the road. We'll hit CA and DL a time or two in there so hopefully it won't be too bad.

Anne Marie - Congrats to Dana! Lots of good wishes for a smooth transition and ease finding the right schools and location.

Karen - Love the pics of Watkins! He's just too cute. I hope the test comes back negative.

Deb - Glad you got some sleep. Love the costume!

Robyn - Hope your basement stays dry. :wizard: to all of the East Coasters!

Beth-your kids are absolutely adorable!! How long has cross country been going??
Thank you! Laura read that, and she was surprised that you could find her adorable. She said to tell you that she is sorry for her behavior this summer. She did add that I still shouldn't be meeting strangers, though. Cross country practice started on August 18th, but our first meet is Saturday. The weather has been gorgeous here, and it is supposed to really rain on Saturday.

Beth great back to school pictures!
Thanks!

Becky :wizard: that your foot is healed enough as to not require surgery!
ditto!

Just realized 3 more months & I will be back at Disney :cool1:

Four more months & Garrett turns 15 :scared1:
Yay for Disney!!!

I didn't realize that Garrett and Laura were so close in age.

So, I think my sister and I have figured out what we and our two brothers will be giving my parents for Christmas. Dad is springing for our Disneyland trip again this coming June. 5 day hoppers for everyone, hotel rooms, and a character lunch at Ariel's Grotto. We always have a great time, and this year won't be any different. We decided to surprise them with a breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen on the day we leave. This way, they get to see their grandkids with more characters, and we can start our trip home with a fun memory instead of the dreaded Disney withdrawal. What do y'all think? It would be a HUGE group. I think there are going to be about 30 of us going. Each family will pick up the tab for their own people, and we'll split the cost of mom and dad, plus the photo package.

What do you think?

I think it's a terrific idea!

It's been a heck of a day here. While the girls were at school, Daniel & I ran errands & went to lunch. I get a call from Katie's school that she is not feeling well 10 minutes before I have to go get Sophie. I was like a woman posessed getting to K's school & then over to S's school. She said she had to throw up but it is just nerves..I think the whole day was overwhelming to her. More supply lists came home on top of the supplies we already spent $70 yesterday so we ran & got those & labeled everything.

Finally everyone is showered & headed up to bed when Daniel runs to me with a nose bleed...he has never had one before so I am concerned...he's watching Spongebob & I am watching him.

I knew I did not want to come home from Disney.:sad1:

Thanks for the good wishes on NC. Dana got in touch with the head of gifted & talented in NC (Raleigh) so she seems to be a good source of info. Things are chugging along..looks like we will be moving over Christmas break which is good because the kids have 2 weeks off then. I will keep you alll posted if & when we make the "final" decision. Thanks!

I am going to sit with Daniel..have a good night.

I hope that Daniel and Katie are both ok. I've said several times lately that I just want to be back in Disney World!

We were out doing the last minute school supply shopping last night, too. Laura had a couple of teachers who wanted very specific items, and they had to have them by tomorrow. Since I have other plans tonight, we had to do it on the first day of school with everyone else.

They didn't look grumpy! Beautiful family. I hope there day was good.
Thanks! Laura is forcing her smile, and Matthew is rolling his eyes in his mind. I know them, so I can see that.

They basically had good days. Laura has the same Global studies teacher that she had last year. She didn't particularly click with this teacher and thought that the teacher didn't like her. She has been dreading that ever since she found out. She said that the teacher was very nice to her yesterday and also said that she couldn't understand why Laura wasn't put into the honors class and would look into it. Laura is really hoping that she can get her into the honors class. Laura also doesn't have many classes with any of her friends, but she thinks it will be ok.

Matthew doesn't talk much (or doesn't get a chance to talk much :rotfl: ), but he seemed happy with all of his classes. He is still hoping to get into AP Government, though. They accidentally left it off his schedule, and by the time he found out, the class was full. Either way, it's not life or death. The alternative is something they call PIG (Participation in Government). It's a half year course that he will take the second half of the year. He was happy to find out that they moved his gym class from 8th period to 4th period, because it's a smaller class and he can get it over earlier in the day.

I'm sorry you had such a hectic day. I hope Katie settles down a bit and starts to enjoy middle school. I have no advice on the nosebleed though. In my house it would have started because a sister hit him. :rotfl:
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Beth- Love the first day of school pics!!
Thanks!

I am not sure if I want to watch or not. :scared:
Suffice it to say that Palin and I are not on the same page.
Besides, last night Bush called me "the angry left". I might be too insulted to watch more of their convention.:snooty:
I don't think I should discuss politics, but I am more on your page than Palin's. A friend and I had quite a lively discussion this morning, and we were both on the same side for a change.

Beth - loved the back to school pictures
Thanks!

Great pics!
Thanks!

Thanks for all the good thoughts for me & the kids. Katie seemed much better today. Daniel's nose bleed stopped & he fell right asleep. Today was his first day of school & he was very excited.

Dana accepted the offer for NC this morning...we will be moving to the Raleigh area over Christmas break.

I am :) and :scared: and :yay:

That is very exciting!!!

Beth,
Hope your kids liked their first day of school.
Thanks!

Guess I should have kept reading!

So far going next Aug. is Elizabeth, myself, hopefully Robyn, & now you :cool1: I see another DDA meet :yay:

I wish we were going, but we'll be busy getting ready to take Matthew to college somewhere.

Thank you Deb! Yes the cost of housing & taxes are significantly less which will be nice. We have been calling schools & getting info. Once we find the school the house will follow. We may rent until we get "the lay of the land" when we first get down there.
That will be a great help! One of our problems is that we live in such a low-cost area, we can't really move anywhere. We just keep hoping that IBM keeps a few people in this area until Miles is out of school (Yes, that's a LONG time). Dh doesn't really think it can last that long, but I have hopes.

Can you all spare a few bits of pixie dust. It looks like Hanna is going to move up the coast near us Friday night into Saturday and from the path they are showing it will hit us from the west. Which is exactly where we don't want it to hit from. It obviously wont' be catastrophic but Isabel in 2003 was a TS and we ended up with 4 feet in the basement from just the storm surge.

ohhh a dittoable!!:thumbsup2

the kids rooms are picked up for the most part. I vacuumed through the house and I did the laundry and put it away. Hunter's costume is made and my pants are shortened. I think I've accomplished enough for today. I really should dust, but the boys will be home soon and then I have to run out to work.

Sorry Tom.

I had another monkey wrench thrown into this thing I call "life".
I would really like to book our airfare for our February trip while the prices are still reasonable.
If the new Ohio Healthy Families act goes into effect, http://www.sickdaysohio.org/ our work has already said that they will be forced to go to 8 hour shifts.
This means instead of being able to leave in the middle of the week and return on a non weekend day, we will have to leave on a weekend and return on a weekend. This makes our flights more expensive.

Arghhhh! I just don't know what to do?!?

Tell her I thought she was cute this summer too, not just in her back to school pic. I understand her hesitation with meeting strangers but everybody is a stranger until you get to know them and that is why I have no hesitation meeting any of you, because we know each other!!

I also have a teenage daughter who is embarrassed by me because I will talk to strangers (some not all...I do value my life) while waiting in line and I am pretty sure that some of the band kids find me a bit odd. So not only was I stranger but I was a stranger who has been considered strange.
