went to the gastro guy...colonoscopy is scheduled for the 18th....cardio guy iis scheduled for the 12th....he is lamenting to me that he wants no more tests prior to the trip...I told him it is totally up to the cardio guy...so we shall see....other than that, he has been tense due to ongoing issues with the oldest son...

For just under $760,000 I can buy enough points to stay the other 51 weeks of the year in an AKV concierge studio. Added to our current one week of points that covers us for the entire year. For the next 49 years. What a BARGAIN! I bet if I buy resale I can shave a little more off the price, too.

So I was talking to Bob yesterday about the Adventures by Disney trips. He said "I thought the next thing was a cruise?" Let the planning begin!!!!! I'm thinking a week in WDW followed by a 3 or 4 night cruise.

Prayer request please! My grandmother is terminally ill and not expected to make it longer than a week or so at most. We are planning to drive to Mississippi this weekend with the kids for one final visit (let's hope the rain from Gustav is gone by then). Obviously, if her health declines faster, we will leave during the week. The funeral will be in Huntsville, AL. This is really rough on the kids (and all of us). Thanks for the prayers.

Prayers & as you deal with your grandmother's illness. I hope you get a great visit.

Summer is officially over. The pool is closed. School starts tomorrow. Homework. Lunches. Bedtimes. Activities. Blech.

Yep. I don't think Dadboss has closed the pool, and DS isn't big on activities, but yep to the rest of it!

I had originally planned on the 9th - 19th, but realized that was cutting it to close for school. I hate paying for a few days at a higher rate, but ya gotta do, what ya gotta do

The points for DVC drop on August 16, but DS goes back to school the 24th so we definitely don't want to start our vacation that late into August. I would consider coming home the 18th or 19th but only if my bosses are gone. DH will have to come back because he doesn't want to do his vacation time in a big block again. In 2010 he will hit the 5 year mark at work so he'll have 3 weeks of vacation. I am hoping that will be another 2 week trip for us, with maybe 5 nights with my mom joining us. So maybe July 23 - August 8, 2010? Gotta get my 2 weeks in before the APs expire!
You should be able to get an AP rate for next summer. Seems like the rates this year were good for July/early August.

Tammi - Have fun planning your land & sea vacation! I am still not sold on the cruise, and DH is WAY not sold on the cruise. The Adventures itineraries seem horribly expensive, even factoring in that it is Disney. Yes, I priced the trip to China, but I priced a couple of the domestic ones, too.

We have a fireproof box that has all of our negatives in it. We probably need to go through them and just keep the ones we would want to reprint. But UGH! what a task! There were some guys at the expo last weekend who have a service that they will transfer your negatives to CD. You pay a monthly fee for the service, and you buy different levels depending on what sort of media you have and how much needs to be converted. They do videotapes to DVD, all sorts of conversions. I don't really want to get that deep into it, but I do want to go through the negatives one of these days.

Right now the trip pics are all on disc and the desktop. There was one set I couldn't fit on disc so I loaded the whole set to PhotoBucket so at least I have a back up.

I want to get one of those negative/slide to digital transfer machines. They are at Walmart now for $99. I have asked for it for Christmas. I've been seeing them for a couple of years in the catalog that they have on the planes with all the gadgets.

Really? How does it work? Do you hook it to your computer, or is it self-contained? I wonder if the quality of the images is good? I might have to look into that! DS loves those catalogs on the plane!

I am probably still so relaxed from my weekend, but you have to do what you have to when it comes to voting. You know what is happening better than us and we completely trust your judgement. I would hope that if I worked with you, that I could vote the same as you.

Non profit businesses are so different in some things than others. I know that Stephanie really stresses when it gets close to budget time. She has this little brain thing that she will squeeze and walk around making sure we have given her all the monies we have to give her!!!!! I would not want her job.
