DDA Chapter 11

Good for him! I hope is recovery goes well!

Eww! Just because you CAN swim in the street doesn't mean you SHOULD!
My friends used to go out with a skateboard and a sheet and "sail" down the road.

It is lucky that he wasn't having a medical crisis in the middle of the hurricane!

Deb - Are you from Connecticut? I thought you had always lived in VT. Jim Cantore has a commercial where he talks about being from CT.

Nope, from VT. Maybe he wants to forget about VT ? :confused3 He is older than Carole so maybe they moved here in his teens? :confused3 I remember people talking about how they thought he would grow up to be a game show host :rotfl: Vinny graduated in 1985 or so and Carole graduated with me in 1987. Jim is older than Vinny. There is an older sister too, but I don't remember her. All 4 kids were adopted, but they all look alike. It's uncanny.

Bernadette - I did get your package, thanks! Terra loves her had. She says that for "flowery" things she can wear it one way and "piratey" things she can wear it the other. We went hiking the next day and she felt that called for the flower side. Thank you so so much for making it for her plus the other surprises! My friend is very thankful for the CD as well. I'm sorry that you are in a funk as well. I'm a little worried about Phil in the same way. I think that's one reason I'm glad he's only going for part of the week. Then if he's feeling grumpy about crowds, hecticness, weather, etc I'll still have some days left to enjoy myself.

Stephanie - :wizard: that the right decision is made for your dad. :grouphug:

Debbie - I'm sorry that your dad is having a rough patch as well. I hope the pacemaker does the trick. :grouphug:

Jennifer - I like the first lettering best!

I went to Borders to pick up Kingdom Keepers II. They don't have it and don't think they will. In fact I couldn't order it. I could order the audio cassette or audio cd, but not the book. Overstock has it for $10.89 plus 2.95 shipping. I think I'll check a couple of other sites then order it.

I ordered the book for $13.84 including shipping. :cool1: The kids will be happy when it gets here

order it from barnes & noble .com...they also have coupon codes

That's kind of funny! He talks about being from CT so he has seen lots of weather. He talks about the blizzard of 1977 (or 1978?). I lived in Boston for that blizzard. I remember it vividly, but I was not inspired to go into weather because of it! :rotfl2: Maybe he lived in CT for that blizzard and moved to VT later.

Jennifer - It looks to me like the only difference in the two designs you posted was in the font at the top, right? If so, I like the one on the bottom better.

ETA: But everyone else likes the top one. ;)

yes the font is the only difference. Beth changed the year for me on a design I had saved and she could not get the color to match the original or the font one so she did the multi-colored one as well.

What wonderful news Debbiie! And so quick!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks Glynis, that does make me feel better. And Elizabeth, your note about the 90+ year old lady and her pacemaker made me feel better too. Thanks!

The doctors at the new hospital want to do their own set of tests, so no surgery tomorrow.:cool1: :cool1: I can get payroll done and then go to Jersey. :cool1:

I'm glad that you'll be able to get there. Stay safe, and know that we are praying for you and your dad!

Deb, where did you order the book from? I found it on Amazon for just over 11 dollars. Did you get it from Overstock? Maybe I'll do some Christmas shopping. Everyone loves books for Christmas, right? Or is that only me and my kids???

How weird is it that it doesn't mention CT at all, yet in his own commerical on the Weather Channel that is what he talks about. Strange, strange. He is far less appealing now that I have read he has a wife and 2 kids. ;)

Elizabeth he is actually divorced now. Apparently he has a girlfriend that he met in MS during hurrican Katrina :confused3 I can't seem to find more info than that although he is no longer wearing a wedding ring.

I did order from Overstock. I love that sight. It's like Crack for a shopoholic :lmao:

Hmm. Curiouser and curiouser! I'll settle for just admiring him from a distance!

Maybe I should go look at Overstock!

From Wikipedia:

James M. Cantore (born February 16, 1964 in White River Junction, Vermont) is an American meteorologist. He is best known for his quite lengthy tenure as an on-air personality for The Weather Channel.

I love Overstock, as well! It's a company based here in Salt Lake. I didn't know that until this year! We order our sheets from there and have always been happy. I've never even thought to order books from there! Thanks for the tip. I'm off to see what I can find!

Wow. I'm speechless. I can't begin to thank you for all the wonderful notes about my Dad. They moved him to another hospital about an hour ago. One with better cardiac care. They are discussing either a pacemaker or defibulator. I'm not happy with either choice. I'm not liking surgery on a 93 year old man. Plus, my FIL died while having a pacemaker put in. Scares me. I know it is only a 5% chance of something going wrong, but when you have already had someone die because they were one of the 5%, it's just really scary.

Currently they are running more tests to figure out which device they want to implant. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again from the bottom of my very grateful heart:love:
 :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Bernadette-I am sorry that you are still in a funk. It sounds like it's going to be a hectic time at work!!
Thanks!

Yes, I thought so, too! I don't think I took any pictures, though. I should have carried the camera more, but I didn't want everything getting soaked, and I refused to wear a poncho. I just don't like them.

 I'm sorry that you are still in a funk. I am, too, but I have to hide mine, because I was lucky enough to even go to WDW. My dh doesn't like it as much as I do either, and I remember plenty of complaints last time. This time he complained and made me feel guilty because he wasn't "invited." Can't win! I'm sorry that work is going to be crazy for you, too. At least you have a Feb trip to look forward to! Is that with one of the kids or by yourself?

I want to see the photopass pictures, please! You still have my e-mail, right?
Have you seen the camera poncho that willcad has directions for on his site www.willcad.org? Just cut holes in a zip lock bag for the strap? I used that but also wore a poncho so felt safe in very heavy rains.

Thanks for the hug. DH doesn't not like it as much as me but just doesn't like it. Come to think of it I honestly can't think of anything he does like-he has no hobbies and would much rather stay home than travel. It isn't that he's lazy he just gets overwhelmed by life. I guess I should feel sorry for him but it gets old when he puts a damper on my vacation. He is good about my traveling with just one kid so that is good. He will have to plan next year's family trip because I'm done with that. Feb is a trip for Lizzy & I. She has 2 half days the first week in Feb so I thought that would be a good opportunity to take her. Jet Blue hasn't opened their schedule out that far yet so it isn't real til I have air fare. I don't know if I should check with her teacher first or not. If we have open house before Jet Blue releases their schedule I might mention it to her. I know I won't be able to take her out for too many more years. Then I plan to take Joe for my birthday in May. Then I'll take Emma in Jan 2010 for her 7th birthday. I wasn't thinking when I had her so close to Martin Luther King Day-too crowded for me.

By the way, there was a free dining pamplet in my room at Por which I just couldn't ignore:rolleyes1 so we are booked at the AS Music family suite 8/23-9/4 2009. This is tentative as if we do move to NC then the kids will already be back to school by then there so we may have to adjust things when we know whats going on.

Bernadette,
So how did you like/dislike ASMusic suites?
I didn't see a free dining bochure-just the watch bounce back thing. We LOVED the set up of the suites. The bed in the bedroom wasn't quite as comfy as Poly or CR but much better than any in the values or moderates. I really liked having a comfy chair in the bedroom and having a desk in the bedroom with built in power strip was great. The kids liked the beds. I tried out the twin that Joe used and it was OK-don't think I could have slept in it for 2 weeks. THe full size bed the girls had was a comfy as any value full size bed. It was great having 2 bathrooms, 2 closets and 2 tvs. I loved the extra storage in the kitchen. We did eat a few meals in the room-well made the kids PBJ's, mac & cheese in the micro, hot dogs and breakfasts.

I wasn't crazy about ASMu but I know that was because they were doing construction and we had to walk all the way around the main building to get to busses. They put up the walls on Tuesday night of the storm. They couldn't wait a day for the worst of the rains to blow by????? When I get things fixed on my Mac I'll upload some photos. As it is I can't open iPhoto and any other application at the same time.:headache: I did sent you a link to the photopass photos. Can I see yours?

I just got a call from Dad, he is sporting a new pacemaker and should be released from the hospital in a couple of hours. He will have a follow up with the doctor tomorrow and they will decide when he will make the trip home after that.
WOW! That was quick! Hope he recovers quickly!:wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Terra is so cute!!! I used that same flower fabric for Emma's Cars hat and she pretends it isn't there. Emma thinks the polka dots are too girly too.:rotfl: I think your plans for your trip are great! I'm sure you'll have a blast!

Blizard of 78!

SO...I was ironing some of the clothes I made for the trip before I put them away and Joe brought a plaid shirt in to me and said he wanted to wear that for the first day of school. OK...I thought he would just wear a polo. Then he brought in a stripped tie to go with it. I told him he had to wear a plain shirt with the tie but he only plain dress shirts were about 3" too short on the sleeves. SO....we went to Old Navy with a Talbots outlet right next door. We did great at Talbots. Got him a beautiful dress blue shirt for about $6, 3 pairs of pants for $6 each (navy & black chinos and cords), and a polo. Got Lizzy a couple of dresses and a skirt. The dresses are too big but they were a great price for Talbots ($18 & $20) so I think I'll just keep them (at least one) but the zipper was broken on the skirt so that has to go back. Then we went to Old Navy to buy a white shirt and kahki chinos. Those were too expensive (relative to the Talbots deals) but I had a $10 coupon and he should be set for pants and dress shirts for the year. I got more cords last spring that I need to dig out for him.

Now I need to wash the new stuff for tomorrow and get going on Emma's outfit.

went to the gastro guy...colonoscopy is scheduled for the 18th....cardio guy iis scheduled for the 12th....he is lamenting to me that he wants no more tests prior to the trip...I told him it is totally up to the cardio guy...so we shall see....other than that, he has been tense due to ongoing issues with the oldest son...:sad2:

Aside from being glued to the Weather Channel, how is Bill?
