DDA Chapter 11

Those pictures are just too cute!!!!

I think I'm coming down with the flu. I'm achy, my throat hurts and I'm cold. (Mind you, some windows are open, but I keep getting goosebumps and I still feel hot.) Dinner's in the crock pot, nothing special tonight. I should go do a load of clothes and clean the basement, but I'm not in the mood right now. That's what tomorrow is for. I'm too comfy on the couch (even with the chills) and Philadelphia is almost over, so I'm not going anywhere until then.

Hope you feel better soon :wizard:

If you all could say a prayer for Kristen, a friend of mine from high school, I'd appreciate it. We lost touch after we both got married (her most recently, in 2006) and I just found out that her husband, Joel, has been battling lymphoma since January. He was set to undergo 'maintenance' chemo this fall (was in remission), but he had some awful symptoms the other day and went to the ED, only to find another large node/lesion. They didn't anticipate it recurring so quickly, but can't figure anything else that it could be. Needless to say, they're both pretty scared..:guilty:

:wizard: :wizard:

Jennifer - PD :wizard: for your friends

Amy - Yes I think those babies are related, as always your pictures are adorable.

Beth - Glad to hear that your scans were clear :cool1:

Robyn - I'm not sure, but I would definitely make the trip. Can you call and find out if you can go as another chaperone?

Tia - Congrats on your resignation, the right position is out there for you, in the meantime you have Disney to look forward to. :thumbsup2

Deb - Sorry you had such lousy tippers. I don't even stiff my server if I get poor service, I do reduce the amount I give. I told DH we need to get jobs as servers in Disney, for the group dinner at Cape May the tip was automatically added in because we were such a large group. We were on the DDP so along with our card we gave her the tip in cash, when we checked out I discovered that she had charged the tip to our room, so for a bill of $54, she got a tip that was more than $20. I made sure I told our server what we were doing after that.

Chanon,

Illness is not allowed, make sure you're getting the rest you need, even with all the wedding prep! :wizard: :wizard:

Emma came home all sad and said that I couldn't go, the spots had already been filled. I can almost guarantee which 3 moms are going and they are the ones that always go. It frustrates me that the mom's that are at the school with face time are the ones that get picked. This is the 3rd time that I haven't been able to go and it's annoying. Of course we can still go if we choose to drive up there and pay for parking but it's not the same thing. :headache: Should I let it go?

I think if this is something you really want to do I would contact the school about it. Seems Emma would really like it as well, good luck :wizard:

Aren't they suppose to ask before they charge anything to your room card?

So, do you want to hear the latest in hurricane panic? I work in retail, and the company I work for took a big hit from Katrina. So they have decided that they are going into the stores that are in the danger zones and ship out a large portion of the inventory. So tomorrow morning there will be 8 trailers, and 30 or more workers from out of area stores there to start packing and shipping. Talk about a mess . . . . . ...

Gas has gone up .26 a gallon since yesterday morning and I'm sure it will continue to climb

The governor called again today, telling everyone to start preparing now.

Gustav has taken a more westerly turn, but it is way too soon to tell.

Dang, I'm good!!

I hope mom is well.

I am trying to decide whether if I should email the music teacher at Emma's school in regards to a field trip they have. The permission slips got sent home yesterday and on there it said that they had 3 slots for chaperons on a first come first serve basis. I sent in the money and slip first thing this morning and Emma was really excited that I could actually go (the boys will be in Disney that week). I would call

Amy loved all the pictures :goodvibes

Robyn I think Emma going to Germany with the Grandparents is a wonderful opportunity for her, good luck with your decision!

Aren't they suppose to ask before they charge anything to your room card?

Maybe she was a little overwhelmed with so many different checks at once? I didn't protest the charge, I just chalked it up to experience. Oh and we gave her the extra MG beads too, she said she had two children and we had two left.

I'm actually cooking dinner tonight since someone else will be here, we have some really crazy schedules right now.

So I guess I had better get it started, we plan on heading to the gym after dinner. I didn't make it there last night, I fell asleep and I figured if I was that tired I should just go to bed.

You can't be sick...doesn't the flu know your getting married soon??;) :rotfl: (Seriously, I hope you feel better fast!!)

I'd rather have this now and not in a month when I'm walking down the isle or getting on a ship. If you only saw me now... Makeup ain't gonna cover how I'm felling!

Prayers said! What a tragedy!

I would call and talk to the teacher! I would explain how you feel, and see what the teacher says. It's not fair that the same parents go all the time. You can't lose anything by talking!

You might as well call and ask if you can chaperone since it is a rare opportunity for you.

Hope you feel better soon :wizard:

Feel better, Chanon!

Aren't they suppose to ask before they charge anything to your room card?

I thought you had to SIGN to authorize room charges? I will say we have had something charged back to the room after we paid cash for it - not sure how that works.

Tia, I do think its for the best.
:wizard: that you get another job very soon.

Deb I hope the customers the rest of the week are better tippers :wizard:

Chanon,
Oh no! I hope it's gone as quickly as it came. :wizard:

Beth-:cool1: :cool1: for good C/T scan:scared1: for the price!!

ditto

That was so sweet of you :goodvibes

pixiedust: and prayers for both of them!

Wonderful news!

Beth - Glad to hear that your scans were clear :cool1:

Beth-:cool1: :cool1: for good C/T scan:scared1: for the price!!

Hi!! :yay: for normal scans.

Hi, Beth! I am so glad everything is OK!
Would love to read a trip report!!

Thanks, everyone! I don't know why, but I never even thought to ask about the cost to me and add that to the pros/cons list of having it done. I guess I just blindly followed the doctor's recommendation. He probably didn't even think of the cost one way or the other. I am glad to know that I am "normal" or at least parts of me are. ;)

My mom had her 4th (and final) A/C infusion today. I need to call her.

Robyn - Your wish for an improved locker situation sure worked fast! DS just called and said they got lockers today and he does not have to share. He worked the lock several times and he says he is comfortable with it. I hope so!! He doesn't have any books yet. The science and math teacher have apparently told the kids their books will not go home except in special circumstances. If that's true then the math teacher might be copying sheets which would mean she does need paper. I'll think about it.

The kids have done nothing this entire week. DS tried to pay for his PE uniform with the cash today and the coach told him they aren't collecting the money yet. Well, Bonehead, WHY didn't you say something YESTERDAY when he tried to pay with the check? :headache: Silly.

pixiedust: for your mom! I am glad to hear that your ds won't have to share a locker. That sounds like an invitation to disaster to me. We just found out that the seniors won't have lockers for the first two weeks, because they are finished replacing them yet. I swear every year the school district is surprised that school starts on the Wednesday after Labor Day (as it has practically forever). Things are more disorganized every year, too.

Just in case, if anyone is looking for Mario Kart for the Wii, it's available online at Walmart.com. I just ordered a copy.

That is another one we will be looking for eventually but not right now. I did just go out and get WiiFit for Laura's birthday (but it's really for everyone).

I think if this is something you really want to do I would contact the school about it. Seems Emma would really like it as well, good luck :wizard:

I agree!

The governor called again today, telling everyone to start preparing now.

Gustav has taken a more westerly turn, but it is way too soon to tell.

My fingers are crossed and prayers being said for it to hit that uninhabitated area of Mexico!

I thought you had to SIGN to authorize room charges? I will say we have had something charged back to the room after we paid cash for it - not sure how that works.

It was weird this time on the places that I did and didn't have to sign for my room charges. Most CS places didn't have me sign but then a few did. I spent over $60 at the resort gift shop and didn't have to sign. I bought about $10 of taffy at MK and not only had to sign but had to show my driver's license. I kept track of it all, though, and there were no errors.

Beth - Have fun with the Wii Fit! I still haven't bought one.

The room charge thing is weird.
When it happened to us we were on DDP (the old one that included tips). I had a drink at Boma that wasn't included so we used DDE for it and paid cash. I left $10 to pay for the drink and figured she could keep the change. When we went to check out there was a $10 room charge from Boma making that drink cost a total of $20! :scared1: The actual cost of the drink was like $6.50 - NOT an even $10, so she had done something really wonky. The front desk was completely UNhelpful, and the manager at Boma wasn't a barrel of sunshine, either. Of course I couldn't find the blasted receipt. The manager did finally reverse the charge, but when you leave cash you really sort of open yourself up to the waitstaff charging your room anyway! Then you have to PROVE that the charge was not supposed to be put through! This time if we left cash I wrote CASH on the tip line.
