DDA Chapter 11

That is thrilling news Jen!!!!!!!!!!! I'm sooooooooooo happy for you!!!! :cool1: :dance3: :yay: :cheer2: :woohoo:

BTW, what did they do, call you at 10 at night?!?!?
Well i met the other teacher that was also waiting for news--she must have had someone call her after the board meeting last night and she texted me--so nothing is official until i talk to someone on the board or the principal, but seems like its good

So those of you thinking we have an early fall coming..... is it nice/cooler where you live or something?! We're still pushing 90 for most of the next 10 days, and with 88-90% humidity! :headache:

I am not good at suggesting stuff to do. I am good at showing up to what other people plan! :rotfl2: Of course I LOVE to eat and shop. DS likes museums, zoo, aquarium, that kind of stuff. Or he likes bowling, mini-golf, that kind of thing, too.

I started playing cello in 7th grade. I loved it. I mean LOVED it. I wanted DS to play but he defies me. You shouldn't have to take it back and forth - you should have one at school and one at home. The problem is keeping the one at home tuned properly. I would have kept playing all through high school but my lovely high school had no string program.

Oh, I am sorry. Waiting for the band director to e-mail is an internship where you gain valuable experience to put on your resume. No salary. ;)

As for the trip, I would like Emma to get some sense of the city, so I'll have to talk to Joe and see what he wants to do and then we'll go from there. I am sure he'll have no problem with us meeting up!

Robyn yah for Molly getting a good teacher.

Have you heard of American Heritage Girls? I am trying to decide between them and girl scouts for Olivia.

I haven't heard the the Heritage Girls, sorry.

Robyn :yay: for no soccer!

That's exactly how I feel!

School starting back up & football is wearing Riley out. They have practice everyday after school unless they have a game(which is only once a week). But the games that are out of town are really out of town! The farthest one is over 2 hours away  I think I am going to see about carpooling with one of the other mothers as Gary does not get home from work in time to go.

Riley is sleeping right now, hope he sleeps tonight.

Wow, that's a lot of practice and traveling. I'm sure he'll adjust quickly and love it.

Loved all the first day of school pictures, and the football ones too. All the kids looked great!

We are officially in panic mode her on the coast, the latest projected path of Gustav has it pretty much following the same path as Katrina and making landfall Monday evening or Tuesday morning. They predict it will strenghten to a cat. 3 by the time it makes landfall.

People are out stocking up on supplies and gasing up their cars, I'm just sick to my stomach. I know it's the chance you take when you live where I do, but this one has all the heartache from Katrina flooding back.

I also get angry when I watch the news and they talk about what a tragedy Katrina was to New Orleans. Not that what happened in New Orleans wasn't horrible, but the storm actually hit Mississippi and destroyed the coast. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of homes were completely destroyed. New Orleans flooded because the levies broke after the storm.

As soon as we could get away after the storm we spent the weekend in Panama City Beach, the girl at the desk asked me if the storm affected Mississippi much. :confused3

Sorry about the rant . . . .

Oh, Debbie you all are absolutely in our thoughts. Buckets of :wizard: that the storm dissipates or stays far away.'s

Ok, here are our first day of school pictures.

Too stinkin' cute! Katie looks so grown up.

I found Abi's mp3 player in the washing machine this morning...we have no clue how it got in there(really...it wasn't her clothes)..she could use pixie dust that it will work!!

That stinks, could the cat have dragged it to the clothes pile?

Debbie I hope you and your family stay safe. prayers said

I have family that live in Port Aransas TX. which for those of you not from TX, its below Houston and above Corpus Christi. So prayers that they stay safe as well please. Thanks

Prayers for them.

No, we had a really bad in experience in 1985 when Elena hit, we couldn't get back to our home to see of we had one left or not after leaving. I just can't do it again, ours is a place that others come to to ride out the storm.

Stay safe.

Guess what guys??!?!?!?!?

IM A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER!!!!!!!!

Congratulations!!!

I got a picture of me & my baby today. It isn't her first day of school but it is the 1st day at Ferris. :lovestruc

:hug's

Work was not good tonight. My first party stiffed me (at least they did pay the bill) and my second party left me $3. It really didn't get much better from there. I can only hope that I had all the bad customers tonight and that the rest of the week will improve :sad2:

I'm sorry Deb, that's rotten.

Wonderful.

I made the last payment on my cruise!!! :boat: I am paid in full. Woo Hoo! Palo reservations, here I come!!!:dance3: :dance3:

Congrats!!

Terry - I see that Robyn must have been able to view your pictures, but I got one picture of your son and grandson and that was it... three times! Quite a slideshow. ;) Wonder why??

Steffy - Congrats on paying off the cruise. Don't you love it when you know your vacation is paid for!?! :)

Debbie, good thoughts that Gustav changes his mind, and goes off in a different direction. pixiedust: pixiedust:

Debbie - Your whole area will be in our prayers. Hopefully Gustav will peter out or turn off in a different direction. :wizard:

Janet - Sounds like football will keep you pretty busy.

All back to school kiddos - Great pictures! I can't believe how much they have all changed over the last year.

Jen - WOOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooo happy for you! I know that means we won't be seeing you much as you cram and super shop to get ready, but it's just so great! Congratulations! And pardon all of my exclamation points! I'm just so excited for you!! :upsidedow But, come on! No pic? I know you're Mom would be happy to take one just for us! Please......

Well, I am the proud holder of a resignation letter. We decided yesterday that I have at least enough opportunities that can be temporary to bring in about half of what I was making. Plus, Kristi's neighbor and I kept missing each other yesterday so hopefully I'll talk to her today. Plus, I put in emails to 4 other families. So, I am turning in a letter of resignation today. I hate that it's come to this, but I just don't see a choice. Thanks for all of your support everyone! It's been nice knowing I'm not just crazy in thinking things are amiss. :grouphug:

Yes, its been extreamly cold. Have no need for the A/C at all and for the most part I keep all the doors and windows closed too.

Example: right now it is 58º, with an expected high of 70º
but will be partly cloudy all day, so it may never hit 70º
Also the humidity is only 53%
And if it is 58º now that means it was quite cold overnight.

So those of you thinking we have an early fall coming..... is it nice/cooler where you live or something?! We're still pushing 90 for most of the next 10 days, and with 88-90% humidity! :headache:

Tia, I do think its for the best.
:wizard: :wizard: that you get another job very soon.

Glynis - Your kids are so grown up looking!!! :)

They look great! And they are definitely growing! :)

I found Abi's mp3 player in the washing machine this morning...we have no clue how it got in there(really...it wasn't her clothes)..she could use pixie dust that it will work!!

Well, that's not good! I hope it works after it dries out! :wizard:

Sorry things were so yucky at work! You would think people would stay HOME if they can't afford to tip at a sit-down meal.

We had upper 90's yesterday.

Good for you! Another position will come along soon, and the money you will save on gas will be huge! It really is an involved process to contact and meet all of these families, but it will be worth it! You go into every new job smarter than you went into the previous one.

No big plans for today. I need to go make some lunch for DS, chat with you all later!

It's 56 degrees now. We may hit the mid 70s later, but it will cool off early in the evening

I only saw one picture too.

Good Luck. I really do think this is best especially for your own mental health :)

The house is relatively picked up and I delivered the kids to school. Poor Colby has been hauling his pencil cases, water bottle and paper work to and from school all week. No one has helped him learn what stays at school and what comes home :headache: I decided to go in this morning and try to explain that his pencil cases stay at school as does the water bottle. He needs to hand his folder to his teacher as apparently they don't look for it. The teacher said she asked for the paperwork yesterday, but he didn't give it to her. It's his first week in Kindergarten I'm not sure he even knew what she was talking about. I also showed him where and how to fill the water bottle. Hopefully he will come home with a much lighter backpack today.

I need to put the laundry in the dryer and run some errands. Chris already called to ask me to deliver his cell phone as he forgot it this morning. My 4th son ;)

There is no excuse for bad behavior like that. I don't care how bad the economy is or people think it will get... If they can't afford a decent tip then they shouldn't be eating out... period.

Sending lots of PD and prayers that one of the opportunities pans out.

Thanks for the comments on the first day pics. It is amazing how much the boys seemed to have grown since the pic taken in January that is in my sig. They both need to have a growing spurt -- they are below average in height and weight.

Glynis -- cute pics of the kids. I'm glad you are making so much progress on moving the kids around and starting to get ready for Peanut!

Debbie -- sending lots of prayers for the coast and for your family and friends.

Soccer practice tonight. Thankfully, Jake's coach moved practice from 5 to 5:30 -- that time was really pushing it for us. Now we might have time to get homework started. There is already a huge difference in the amount of homework from last year to this year for Andrew.

Have a good day everyone! :)
