DDA Chapter 11

I'm home. I have had the worst headache and dizziness all night. I'm pretty sure it is all sinus related though it didn't start until I got to work :confused3 Thankfully the Advil and Tylenol PM that I took when I got home has helped tremendously. We are watching the woman's beach volleyball final. Very close match.

Chris said his visit with his aunt and uncle went well. He even found out a big tid bit of info that his mother neglected to share with us. Apparently his niece, you know the lazy, unemployed one with the baby that she will probably lose to the father...Well she is pregnant again. This time with TWINS :sad2: I don't know the details or even if there is a father in the picture. Maybe she did it on purpose since she'll likely lose custody of the first child :confused3 Maybe she needed the welfare check. Who knows. I just feel so sorry for those babies, that is certainly not a good situation to be born into.

And with that I'm heading to bed.

I think the longest thread over on the CB is the WFD, but even that is like only 6 or 7

I'm not sure. I know the Disboutiguers are on thread 8. Not sure about any of the threads on the community board as I very rarly go over their.

We had BLT's yesterday for dinner, because our NJ neighbor came up on Tues. and brought us tomatoes from his garden. (yum'o)

Robyn, plenty of good thoughts for your family.

I wanna do the ornament exchange!! I wanna! :yay: I wanna! :yay: I wanna! :yay: I wanna! :yay:

:rolleyes1

Jen, you need lots of rest (no matter how boring). If you get your own classroom, you can't be sick your first day. Feel better soon. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

Count me in on the ornament exchange! Wouldn't want to stop the traditon now! We love all our ornaments that we have received!

Morning DDA!

Theresa - did I miss the post on what you'd like for the swap exchange? Or would you rather us PM you all the info? I forget what you had asked for last year... But I'd like to do it!

Robyn - :grouphug:

I've gotten SO tired of Mom asking "who's coming to the wedding" and "what did they get" I ended up uploading an excel sheet to Google Docs. I have to say I now LOVE that site. It's great to only have ONE copy of something instead of one on my work computer, one at home, one in an email and did I save it...

OK - Off to go get ready for work! Have a great day everyone!

Robyn  :wizard: for your mom and for you, Eric and Molly. Sorry about your friend. Have you heard anything about the Job?

Robyn - I hope your mom is OK! :wizard:
Have you tried telling Molly she isn't allowed to come out of her room? If she wants to be awake that's fine, but she has to stay in her room, quietly, until the clock says 6 AM? She has to understand that just because she is awake doesn't give her the right to wake everyone else up. I know her sleep study was inconclusive, but maybe you need to push your pediatrician to come up with something else. I know sleep requirements vary from child to child, but it sounds like something else is going on with Mo. Is she motivated by anything in particular? You can't force her to sleep, but if you can convince her to leave the rest of the family alone while she is awake it might help!

So, let me share a "funny" Disney story.

I know I'm grown but I absolutely LOVE gummy bears, well with the sugar restrictions I haven't had any in quite some time. Imagine my excitement when I found Sugar Free Character Gummies at Goofy's candy store. I bought a bag and proceeded to eat most of it. Later when we were at Epcot my stomach started churning.

That's when I read on the bag, "Warning: Consumption may cause stomach discomfort and/or laxative effect."

Let's just say it's a good thing that Epcot has an abundant amount of facilities, they're not kidding about the warning!

Oh, my! :rotfl2: Well, lesson learned! ;)

We are hosting Princess's play group tomorrow so I need to get some snacks and drinks today. Out of 10 kids we know one is not coming, one is a maybe, and 2 are coming. That leaves 5 that could show up, giving me a total of 8. :scared: The house isn't really big enough for 8 preschoolers so I am hoping we don't end up with that many! At least they all come with a grown-up so I won't be on my own with all of them. :rotfl:

I like the crockpot as well. That sounds like something Jeff would like. But I dont like spicy food.

And you live in the land of Mexican food and Tex Mex...:rotfl: I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Will you be going to San Antonio for the service?

Elizabeth -- sending prayers for Susan. How is your Mom doing? I'm not complaining about the rain yet, but I wasn't in Florida with you to get wet there. We are so down in rainfall for the year, that I think it could rain for the next week and all the tanks, lakes etc. would still be down feet in water. We've been having so many grass fires around here that it will be nice that the firefighters get a break -- especially the rural ones. I hope your DS had fun at the party yesterday.

Jen -- good luck with the teaching job!

I post on "When has God answered your prayers" (yes, I do cheat on you all...mainly when you are sleeping;) )

this is what I posted today and wanted to share with you all too:

My praises for the week is I didn't get the job I really wanted at my worship church back in July. I know it sounds funny but this past Sunday our church said there would be layoffs happening in the next month...so God showed me his time not mine

He also has given me the courage and gumption to run away for a weekend (my ticker). A friend put it so eloquently this morning "Good for you Theresa you need some air" Bless her, she's right. I've been floundering, drowning, grasping and gasping for so long I didn't realize I had lost air.

:grouphug: Congrats on the ticker!

Hi all...I've been MIA for a few days and really have no idea what's going on. Things here have been upside down and I haven't had much time to get on the computer.

First though, I need the power of the DDA's good thoughts and prayers. My mom went to the emergency room this afternoon with chest pains. They've run all the necessary tests and things seem ok. They are keeping her overnight so I just got home from there. I feel bad that I left her there. :guilty:

Molly, Eric and I are quickly nearing the end of a rope with one another. She has turned into this whining, horrible non sleeping mess. I am so trying to deal with her and not lose it but it ain't easy. Her sleeping is worse now than before. Still no naps, but also waking up around midnight and coming into our room and not going back to sleep til around 1. She is up by 5:30. I don't know how she functions but it won't be pretty once school starts.

I also found out today that one of my former co-workers died today from an overdose. She was good friends with my cousin Joe and our age, so it's unsettling. He seems to think that it may have been intentional which really saddens me.

I am off to try and get some sleep, sending out 's, :wizard: and :cheer2: for all.

Sending lots of prayers and PD. What did the sleep study find? Did the doctor have any advice? Is it because school is coming up?

So, let me share a "funny" Disney story.

:rotfl: I've so had similar issues before with sugar free/fat free items...

And with that I'm heading to bed.

Deb -- I hope you are feeling better today and the funk lifts. That is really sad about the niece...

Last night was a late night. I asked my SIL to help me finish a scrapbook I started years ago for my boss. Merrie does know about the book, but the last time she saw it, there were only about 6 pages done. It's a compilation of her family Christmas card photos. I'm now up to date.

I have been planning a surprise 60th birthday party for Merrie that is tomorrow night. She's been in Europe for two weeks with her daughter, so it's been fairly easy to get the planning done without her around. Her kids are so unpredictable, though, that I have a feeling it won't end up being a surprise for much longer. The son is in charge of getting her to the restaurant, and he's not very dependable... plus, I just found out this week that he thought it was a different day. He never returns my calls, so luckily I called the step-brother (who is a terrific kid) and have gotten most of it worked out.

Tonight is orientation (without kids) at school. We only have to do this when they move up to a different division, so we won't have to do it again for a few years. It's nice that if we have to go, it's for both boys and not on separate years. SIL is keeping them, but it will be another late night.

Have a great day everyone!

That's exactly what we did with Alyssa this summer, since she tends to wake up with the daylight. I bought her a digital clock and she knows she has to stay in her room until the first number is an 8. Of course, she "sneaks" out every once in while to go potty, which is perfectly acceptable, but she knows to retreat back to her room. We need to buy her some black-out shades too, but I just haven't gotten around to it.

Hang in there!

Good luck keeping the party a secret and pulling it off with little stress :cool1:

Hang in there!

Don't waste money on the black out shades. I just did all of Colby's windows with them and it is no darker than before. The problem is that shades don't fit tightly to the edges of the window sills. There is room at the top and each side of the shades that allows them to function. Light floods in through those 1/2 inch spaces and totally negates the light blocking purpose. I think that heavy curtains work much better. Of course the curtains that are coming for Colby's room are sheers as that is all I could find in solid light yellow :headache:

Good Morning.

I'm heading out soon to grocery shop. The boys are going over to SIL's house to play on her Wii Fit so I will hurry as best I can to get all my errand run quickly. I have to have Colby at school at 1 PM for a mini orientation. SIL just told me that she heard that the bus schedule and routes will be changing this year as they are eliminating a bus. I have not heard this, but if she is correct it will mean a much longer ride for the kids. Last year the bus ride took them over 35 minutes anyway so how long can they expect kids to be on a bus? We only live 6 miles from the school :confused3 Of course my niece and nephew both get car sick so there is no way they will survive a longer ride especially since she heard it will be hitting the windy back roads instead of just the main roads it travelled in the past :headache: I'll ask about it today.

I should have known! :sad2: :rotfl:

I was so excited to have only a handful of pages to catch up on after 24+ hours, but then I found you all here, with 8 more pages!

Here's the previous stuff, I'll try and catch up here later!

Jennifer - I was hoping that your little ones would have had a better night last night. :( Good luck at the doctor today!

It appears we're going the other direction... at least half of us  Avery and I had pre-Zantac like night last night :confused3

Jennifer - let us know how the doctor's for the girls go!

Have a great day everyone!

Will do, as soon as I catch up! It's motivation ;)

Good luck. I just took a couple of days and had the boys try on all the clothes in their closets. Since sizes vary so widely I cannot just look at a tag to determine if it will fit Thankfully a lot still fit so I won't be going broke refilling their closets. I'm sure I can count on my mother for that with birthdays and Holidays right around the corner

This is exactly why I did it! The sizes run so differently, and even the weights they put on the tag don't work. The girls fit VERY nicely into most of their newborn clothes, and are swallowed by most 0-3 month clothes, despite being in the "correct" weight range for them. I think they just carry their weight well! ;) I started out arranging things by size, but then ended up moving them into groups based on how big they ACTUALLY are. What a mess!

I found the missing bag ...Cassidy was the one who picked up the mail...so I was talking about how there should have been a box key for the purse and she said "but there was!" Turns out she's never gotten the mail at package time so had no clue, I think she honestly thought the mailman just left a random key. :rotfl2:

Well I'm confused, so I can understand how the bag seemed to be missing! :rotfl: I'm glad you found it though! :)

We go to Disney in 30 days.

:yay:

I finally got around to going through my "other" e-mail inbox. There is a pool party for the incoming 7th grade boys TODAY. I called the mom who is hosting to let her know DS would like to attend. DH is already finished for the day and he took DS home so it shouldn't be a problem to get him to a pool party at 3 PM. Of course we are having thunderstorms so I don't know if the boys will do any swimming.

DS was kind of weird about it. He didn't want to go even though it looks like it will be a pretty small group. He said it is because he has a "shirt" tan from being at Disney. I can't imagine that is the real reason. Then he said he is worried that his ex-friend from elementary will bring the thug boy who picked on DS last year. While that is entirely possible (ex-friend's mom thinks Thug is a very nice boy), the other boys who will be there are not tolerant of Thug's behavior. I am pretty sure DS will be fine even if Thug is there. The boy who is hosting is one of DS's good friends, and I imagine there will be several moms there even if DH doesn't stay. Pretty hard to bully in that environment.

Did DS end up going? I hope he did, and that it went well!

Eeek!!! Don't remind me! I've got so much I have to do! We gave away everything after the twins were born; positive we were done. Oh well. At least I have a cradle for after he's born, clothes from my niece, and just last weekend, Alan bought a crib/dresser combo. It's really nice, too. The crib will convert to a toddler bed when the time comes.

I think that this weekend, we are going to move the twins out of the nursery into Jacob's room (we're picking up bunkbeds at IKEA on Friday afternoon, hopefully), move Jacob upstairs into the nursery (he wants to share a room with his brother), and get some walls painted. I wonder how much we'll actually get done?

You will be FINE! It sounds like you have things under control, and have great helpers! :goodvibes

well moms step mom passed away yesterday. not sure what day the funeral will be this weekend

I'm sorry to hear about your family's loss.

I'm hoping to try out the recipe that I found tomorrow. Today is cleaning. I'm not sure how I can clean all day every day and still find messes :confused3 The bug guy has come and gone. He said that he has talked to "experts" in the area and they feel that the bugs must be coming in from outside. So he did nothing in the house except putting sticky traps in the basement. He did spray the perimeter of the house so maybe that will help. :headache: If he had no intention of spraying the kitchen then why did I need to have everything in airtight containers :confused3

Wow, We're not making parenting older kids look so great to Jennifer are we :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am home by myself with 2 infants each day... THEY don't make a mess, I pick up after myself, and I still find the same thing!

As for parenting, funny you should say this ;) Kyle and I talked about this last night, when I tried to remind him that they'll grow out of these nights, and they'll become a distant memory just like my 30 minute sleep sessions while pumping. He decided to be a buzz-kill and say they'll always do things like this.... but I won the conversation :rotfl: I told him at least then, we get SOME verbal confirmation, however rare, that what we do helps them! :teeth:

I hate that! It throws the whole day, and no matter how much Tylenol I take, I can never get rid of them! I hope you feel better quickly.

I can so remember how relieved I was the first time I could take "real" medicine for my headaches!!

Please keep my friend Susan in your thoughts/prayers. Her dad has been diagnosed with very advanced colon cancer. :guilty: From what she has said I think it is inoperable, and widespread throughout his body. She is having a very hard time right now.

Oh how sad :( I will keep her and her family in my prayers!

I got there and met with the director, thep rincipal of the school that i have the long term position and the principal of the school where the kindergarten is. It was a quick 20 minute meeting, but they kept saying how well i did in all of my interviews with the district.
I will find out tomorrow or friday if i have my OWN kindergarten classroom!

Oh Jen, I SO hope you do!

But it's a job and you manage. :goodvibes

I was hired three days before Princeton started, and two of my AP 11th grade classes had summer reading. Of course, they read three books I had never read. Believe me, you manage. :rotfl:

Sending you lots of :wizard: Jen!

Yup. You manage. I was hired the week before school started and had about the same amount of time Jen will have to get ready. Imagine my shock when I went into my room and found NOTHING! No desks, no books, no supplies, etc. When the old teacher had left, all the other teachers came in like locusts and took everything. It was a challenge to round up enough desks and textbooks from teachers who really didn't want me around in the first place.

Um, I'm thinking they need to hire teachers a bit earlier in the summer! Of all professions, you all have/had more preparation to do than most fields I can think of!

Sorry that I haven't had much time to post lately. I've been getting caught up most nights, but am still working of my really slow laptop. That and trying to finish getting our trip stuff in line, etc. Yikes! 30 days to go! Yippee!

I'm so excited for you all anbd this trip, since Phil is going! :yay:

I saw that at the store yesterday! I'm not fond of the chocolate cookie though... Hostess also came out with the originial twinkie again a few months ago (I never knew that twinkies started off being stuffed with banana flavor!).

I didn't either.... and EW!

I bought a box of the Oreo Cakesters and I was REALLY disappointed. I thought they were nasty. We haven't tried the Nilla ones - regular or strawberry.

I totally agree, what a letdown! My mom actually brought the strawberry Nilla ones a week or so ago, and I must say they weren't bad. Maybe it had to do with my poor expectations going into it :rotfl:
