DDA Chapter 11

Come obsess about making my house look as good as yours!

Tempting offer, but I'm not sure I could make the commute each day to take care of my boys:rolleyes1

We finished tieing down and putting up everything outside, so all that is left is the inside. I'm purposly taking my time with it, so that I have plenty to keep myself occupied.

We are under a hurricane warning, and evacutaion orders have been issued. But we will be staying put. We are in a very high location, so flooding is not a threat, it depends on the tides at the time of landfall how high the surge will be. Right now it's still beautiful outside, it's getting pretty breezy but I love a windy day.

They are shutting down my store at 1pm today and will keep it closed tomorrow to reopen Tuesday if possible. I'm not scheduled Tuesday but I will go in if I can to help out.

The traffic on the interstate has finally thinned out, but I'm sure it will be just as bad in the opposite direction after the storm.

I'll be grilling tonight, and fixing some of my frozen vegetables, gotta use up as much as we can.

Laundry is in process and should be finished this evening, everything needs to be clean in case we can't wash for a while.

I'm glad that you are keeping busy and that things are in order for your home. Having lots of things precooked sounds like a great idea as you have no idea whether you'll have power over the next few days. Hopefully you'll only get rain and all will be ok

I've found that crocheting is quite a stress reliever.

I've tried crocheting and cannot do it. I'm crafty, but not when it comes to knitting or crocheting :sad2:

Elin-yes it does seem to be the four legged variety....either a prolific pooper or a group of them, BUT EWWW!!

We are on the ship. It's quite windy outside, and our itinerary has been switched around - we'll be at CC tomorrow, Nassau on Tuesday, and then at sea on Wednesday (originally was to be Nassau, at sea, then CC). I'm sure all is subject to change, too. The ship is beautiful as always, and I'm hoping we'll find some slivers of sun somewhere. It's been cloudy most of the day, but I don't think it's rained, unlike yesterday. Apparently those were outer bands of Gustav - from 500 miles away. :sad2:

Stephanie - thanks for your comments about Mickey and Minnie - that made me smile. I've already seen them today, so I know they're on board. :goodvibes Many, many prayers for your dad, and for your drive. Please keep us posted. :wizard:

Debbie, please, please stay safe. :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: I hope you can stay busy; I can only imagine how powerless you can feel watching this thing coming. Many, many prayers over the next few days. Please keep us posted if you can.

Thanks for the well-wishes. If nothing else, we're on the Wonder, and know they'll keep us safe! I'll try to check in when I can. Stay safe all!

Have a great trip Lindsay :cool1: I'm quite jealous

I'm off to return the dvd then to work.

Lindsay, I hope you have a great trip!

I think some people here read Kingdom Keepers a couple of years ago. Did you know that Kingdom Keepers II: Disney at Dawn came out earlier this week? I haven't had a chance to read it yet. Miles' friend recommended Kingdom Keepers to him a few months ago and told him that the new one was coming out. Miles borrowed Kingdom Keepers from his friend right after we returned from WDW and finished in a couple of days. I bought the second one for him, and he is reading it now.

Debbie, stay safe. pixiedust: pixiedust:

Debbie, more good thoughts for you guys! :wizard: :wizard:

Theresa, hope the headache goes away soon.

Theresa, I hope you are able to keep the migraine at bay! :wizard:
I think you should stay out of the garage. ;)

Lindsay, I hope you have a great trip!

Lindsay, I hope they are able to steer the ship to somewhere sunny!

Beth - I saw another thread about that book! DS has the first one. Of course he hasn't read ANYTHING for a couple of months, but maybe the sequel will interest him.

Good evening...

Debbie- Know that I am praying for you and everyone that is to be impacted from this horrible storm. Please stay safe. :wizard: I love the blankets!! That Spiderman one is so cool.

Steffy- Prayers for your dad. :wizard: :wizard: and 's

Lindsay- Thanks for checking in with us and letting us know that Mickey and Minnie are safe! I'm glad you and Jonathan are too!! :goodvibes

Theresa- I hope you have found some relief from the migraine.:wizard:

Anne Marie- Welcome home, can't wait to see your pics.

Deb- I'm sure you'll find a new obsession! I for the life of me cannot crochet or knit either despite how crafty I am.

Heidi- I can't remember if I mentioned how glad I was to hear your mom is in the clear!

Beth- Thanks for the heads up on the new Kingdom Keepers. I'll have to get Emma to read the first one now.

I know I'm missing a few, my brain is seriously mush. We rolled in around 1am last night putting us in bed around 2 but since it was a normal night for Lucy she was up about 7am. My niece was here with my mom last night so she ended up spending the night too. My parents and sister came over for a cookout this afternoon. Everyone has left and the house is back in order so the girls and I are snuggled in on the couch to watch the new Little Mermaid movie.

Oh and one last thing....Lucy is starting to take steps on her own!!!! She do about 5 at a time. She gets so excited though that she quickly falls downs!

That sounds really nice. I guess no one did out of town boxes way back when we got married. I've only heard of them over the last few years :confused3

The first time I saw them was at a cousin's wedding, that I would say was.... 13 years ago? (Give or take). We did them, but I still don't see them all of the time, by any means!

I definitely need the power of the DDA, I'm going to ask for pryers for a miracle, that somehow this storm fizzles out or at least doesn't reach the strength they are predicting. Asking that it just doesn't hit here feels wrong, as then it will spread it's devastation somewhere else.

The westbound interstate is almost at a standstill, and has been for at least four hours now. I'm confused as to why people from Louisiana are headed west instead of North. :confused3

And to make matters worse, Hannah is riding the coattail of Gustav. :sad2:

 Kyle and I were talking about your family, and Mississippi today. Please stay safe, and know you are in our thoughts and prayers!

It looks like I'm alone here, I'll take this time to post a few pictures. I liked the look of the castle as the sun was setting, too bad the picture isn't clearer.

This is so beautiful Debbie, thank you for sharing! And the spiderman afghan is SO cool!!

Hi, everyone,

We're at the Cape, preparing to board the Wonder in the a.m. - I guess we'll truly see what lengths DCL will go to to keep the ship and the passengers safe!

Have a WONDERFUL time! I hope you can relax, and maybe see the sun a bit too! ;)

Oh no. What happened?

Steffy, I hope all is all right... travel safely!

Sorry to post and run, we've been out all day in the miserable heat (94 and 90+% humidity), so it's hopefully going to be an early night for the girls (and me!)

Take care! :goodvibes

Well, our beautiful day is gone, and the first feeder band has arrived, it looks pretty rough out there and the power has already flickered. I wasn't counting on it going out so soon but if I don't check back in that is why.

Right now things look a little better, the storm is now back to a Cat 3 coming ashore and it is moving quickly which is good, the sooner it gets over land the better. It hasn't taken another turn this way so we should only get Tropical Storm winds.

I'll be thinking of you! Please post an update when you can.

Yay, Lucy!

I have never heard of a welcome box before. I think it's a neat idea.

Back when I got married, (the first time), we didn't have near as many details to deal with. The reception was only cake, mints, nuts, and punch, we really missed a good opportunity for a party.
