DDA Chapter 11

Debbie - you and your family, friends and neighbors are all in my thoughts. I just hope that you all remain out of the reach of the storm and pay attention to all the warnings. Please check in with us as much as you can. :grouphug:  :grouphug:

Your afghans are wonderful and I know the kids will love them too!

Thanks for the video of Wishes. It made me a little teary. I can't wait to see it again very soon. It seems like forever since I have. :goodvibes

I definitely need the power of the DDA, I'm going to ask for pryers for a miracle, that somehow this storm fizzles out or at least doesn't reach the strength they are predicting. Asking that it just doesn't hit here feels wrong, as then it will spread it's devastation somewhere else.

The westbound interstate is almost at a standstill, and has been for at least four hours now. I'm confused as to why people from Louisiana are headed west instead of North. :confused3

And to make matters worse, Hannah is riding the coattail of Gustav. :sad2:
prayers said for your family and friends safety every time I hear n update on him.

Lindsay - I am so glad to read that you all got to the Cape! Have a wonderful, stress-free cruise. Check in with us if you have the time and desire to do so. ;)

Nagin specifically told people to go NORTH because they aren't sure exactly where it is going to hit. I haven't looked yet this morning to see what they are saying.

Debbie, like the afghans.

The afghans are wonderful! :goodvibes

Deb,

:wizard: for you & your family. I am thinking about you every time I see an update on the storm. I am praying for minimal damage. Stay safe.

Lindsay,
Hope you enjoy the cruise. I like what Stephanie said about Mickey & Minnie. :wizard:

Debbie, I hope you all will reconsider evacuating if they issue an order.

Lindsay, we were talking about you guys last night and wondering how all the storms would impact your cruise. Stay safe! :wizard:

They were saying we will get about 4000 evacuees, but that number might be climbing. At least everyone (the agencies) seem to have a better handle on things this time. I hope. I guess we'll just watch and hope for the best.

You are too sweet.

Yes I wish we lived closer too!!! Someday we have to plan that beach house trip in the the outer banks! ;)

Tammi, your kids & Bobs are even more beautiful in person. I am so glad we were able to get together today.

By the way Dana said to me after we left that it was a pleasure to meet you all & we all talked like we have known each other for years..I said "we have!".
Welcome home and thank you. How long did your 5 hr drive end up being?

Oh Debbie I am so sorry you are going through this. I can 'hear' fear in your post. You have all the prayers and pd that I can muster. Are you all going to evacuate or ride it out? Please be safe, whatever you do!

Tom - I hope the meds kick in and you are on the road to recovery.

Chanon - I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better.

Lindsay - enjoy your trip! I hope the seas aren't too rough.

Deb - the afghans are beautiful.

Theresa - the bed looks great!

I hope I didn't forget anyone!

Lindsay sorry I missed you, but have a wonderful time.

Hi everyone-we are home from the shore and i have spent the last hour getting more stuff together for my classroom--its all coming together!! i have a couple more things to do and i am done and will relax the rest of the today /tomorrow i hope!!!

Interesting news (not new, but confirmed):

Disney and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts have finalized the sale of 298 acres of Walt Disney World property to Four Seasons, for the construction of a previously-announced ultra-deluxe Four Seasons resort featuring hotel, golf course, timeshare, and vacation home sales (yes, you'll finally be able to live at Walt Disney World -- if you can afford it). The resort is being built on the former site of the Eagle Pines golf course. The first phase of the project is due to open in 2012.

Welcome home and thank you. How long did your 5 hr drive end up being?

We left you at about 11am & got home at 6pm..so 7 hours. We hit alot of traffic in Maryland. There were also an unusual amount of potty breaks too.

I am working on my photopass pictures right now. We have 192 pictures. Also working on getting the wash done..my whole hallway is filled with dirty clothes.

It's so cool here compared to the weather we had in Disney...77 degrees. I want to take the kids to the pool this afternoon as it closes for the season tomorrow..hopefully it will warm up.

I should be doing laundry, but I'm not. We have a station that is doing Gustav coverage round the clock so I am watching that. It's not good. They are saying the storm surge could be TWENTY FIVE FEET in some areas! :scared: Not good. I really hope people who are supposed to evacuate, DO evacuate.

Nagin was saying all those FEMA trailers are going to basically become projectiles, so if you have a home near the trailers your house could be smashed in by a flying trailer. :scared1: That might be enough to get me to leave!

It looks like I'm alone here, I'll take this time to post a few pictures. I liked the look of the castle as the sun was setting, too bad the picture isn't clearer.

Very nice and so peaceful looking.

When DD was expecting Brandon I crocheted him an afghan, and then I started one for my SIL that never got finished. I found a pattern for a Spiderman Afghan that I started for Brandon last May, and never finished that either. When DD told me she was expecting again I decided to finish the one I started for my SIL, but was determined to finish Brandon's Spiderman first, here it is,

And here is the one for the baby, so it took six years to finish, it is larger so that it can be used for a longer period of time. Brand still uses his,

I found a pattern I love and have started it in pink, I may have to go and get blue yarn and restart it.

Very nice. I really love the spiderman afgan. We have an entire twin comforter/sheet/curtain set that Hunter had to have, but only used for 6 mths. If Brandon can use it I'd be happy to send it to you. I'm sure we won't use it :sad2:

The reports are up to 34 ft surges now.

I find myself in a funk and glued to the hurricane coverage. I just can't believe that we are watching devastation headed towards the US and we are unable to do anything to prevent it. :sad1:

My 90+ year old Dad is in the ICU. I'm on my way to Jersey.

We planned to wash the outside of our house today, but it is pretty windy and only in the low 70s so that kind of put the nix on it. Of course I wasn't highly motivated anyway. We did need to get it done, but tomorrow looks to be a better day. I need to be at work by 4PM so that cuts the day short anyway. Tomorrow we will have a BBQ at some point. I bought hot dogs and hamburgers so it will be quick and easy, but a BBQ none the less
