DDA Chapter 11

the only one I can think of is V-violet -incredibles.

Good one! :thumbsup2

I attempted to watch the MTV VMA's tonight, and I just have to admit, I'm too old for that stuff. I thought it might be a little nostalgic for the 25th anniversary, but not so much! :rotfl:

I think Noah can sense I'm considering going to bed. I can hear him stirring...usually he at least waits until my head hits the pillow. ;)

Good night DDA. Hope you all have a great week!

Was Britney a train wreck?

Deb - I loved seeing all the pictures again. However you might want to erase the address that is on the box that Hunter is holding. You never know about lurkers here.

Fixed, I didn't even notice

I'm the car pool driver today so I'm up bright and early.

V = Vixey (Fox and the Hound) or Voyage of the Little Mermaid (attraction)

X = XR (a robot from the Buzz Lightyear cartoon series) or Excalibur (sword in Sword and the Stone)

Y = Yzma (The Emperor's New Groove) or Yen Sid (Fantasia character and Disney spelled backwards!)

Z = Zazu (The Lion King) or Zurg (Buzz's enemy/Dad) or Zip-a -Dee-Do-Dah

Thanks for popping in, Amy! :goodvibes :rotfl2:

Happy Belated Grandparents Day.

Does anyone have any advice?

Mondays for the next 9 months are going to be horrific for me. Without going into the whys, other than it just works out for the best this way believe it or not, Alyssa has ballet on Monday at 5:20-6:05 and then they have Religious Ed. at 6:30-7:45. Luckily they are only about a 10 minute drive apart. So I will pick the kids up after school and may or may not have time to run home and change real fast. It depends on traffic. Here's my question....does anyone have any idea how I can get dinner into them without making it a routine McDs drive thru night???? I can leave ballet and run down to McD, go back and pick Alyssa up, and they can eat on the way to RE. We RARELY eat fast food and I don't want to start. Especially making it a weekly thing. Would I be a bad Mommy if I just packed PBJ, chips, juice box, etc and gave them that for dinner? I guess it can't be worse than McD. Maybe even better. UGH.

I think others have given some great suggestions for a 'car picnic'... and it would be a good opportunity, as Theresa mentioned, for the kids to help plan the meal! And McD's on occasion would be fine, too, although I understand completely not wanting to start a weekly habit!

me either...and all 4 of us are feeling not so great. Cassidy shared her cold.

Oh no! I hope your whole household is feeling better quickly! :wizard:

I have it on DVR, but haven't watched yet. I've never really been that impressed with it, but we always tape it for a few minutes worth of entertainment! :rotfl:

I heard she wasn't! I have seen articles saying she "stole the show" and had an ovation! This makes me so happy for her.... I can't wait to see her!

Theresa, :wizard: that you and the family feel better soon.

I am so cold right now. :cold: At 6 I opened the house so I could clean the oven.

Ok parents, I have a question.

I sent my cousin's an email about what to get the kids for Christmas. Kristy got back to me that the girls would love make-up, kiddie stuff for the youngest and stuff meant for tween/teens for the oldest. (they are 8 and 4)

Now I was never one to think make-up for young girls was a good thing to buy. However she does let them play with it, but they don't wear it out.

Your thoughts, please?

Elizabeth, the pin came Sat. thanks.

You're welcome! :)

I personally hate make-up for 4 year olds, but that's because Sister had TONS of it. Some of it gave her a raging rash on her face, too. But nobody supervised her when she played with it. When I found it laying around the lid was usually gone so I just threw it in the trash.
For an 8 year old it probably isn't so bad. When I was 10 or so my favorite thing to do was to play with my Nana's make up. My mom never wore it, so she didn't have any I could play with. One year for Christmas Nana gave me a make up bag with pressed powder, blush, eye shadow, lipstick. I don't think there was eyeliner, there might have been mascara. It was the best present ever! I wasn't allowed to go out with make up on (because I looked like a prostitute) but it sure was fun to have the make up!
If the parents are telling you it is OK for the girls to have it then I guess it is OK. :confused3

Heidi -- I wonder if she means play make-up for little kids. They have it in the girl/toy aisle at Target and Wal-Mart etc. It's not usually very dark -- mostly sparkly and scented. I would think most things targeted for tweens might be a little old for the 8 year old, but I don't have girls so maybe I'm off-base. Good for you for starting early and being such a good Aunt!

Amy -- sending PD to you for more sleep for Noah and more down time for you. I loved the seeing the article with quotes from Kevin. Tell him I give him an A+ on the sound bites!

Tammi -- I think you've gotten excellent advice on the road picnic. We've faced that same dilemma multiple days a week for years now, and I finally just gave in and usually let them have fast food at least one day a week, especially when the kids are playing two sports at the same time. I don't get close to 7 hours of sleep a night, so getting up 30 minutes earlier in the morning isn't a good option either. If I don't get it ready the night before I grab fruit and snacks during lunch and we eat dinner a little later, or we do fast food.

Elizabeth -- I've been sending prayers and PD to your Mom. Did you talk to her this weekend -- is she feeling any better?

Theresa -- I hope your family is feeling better!

We had soccer both days this weekend, I ran office and personal errands on Saturday, and then we had a family dinner last night. Andrew also had to work on his project this weekend, plus he had homework in two other subjects. :scared1: I hope the teachers have just been a little enthusiastic and homework slows down for the weekend.

Soccer for both kids tonight if it doesn't get rained out. Have a good day everyone!
