Oh you didn't have to do that, I really was not upset about it. Thank you though :goodvibes I was just excited to see my question posted in the newsletter :yay:

I knew you weren't upset I just wanted to remind her about the abbreviations most of us use. :goodvibes I did tell her that you weren't upset. (I didn't tell her that the picture in my head of Garrett and Riley in dresses was hilarious though:rotfl2: )

She just went back to being the only editor of the newsletter...so I guess we should give her some slack. ;)

Quickly researching cruises leads me to believe that you can only do the California/Vancouver to/from Hawaii cruises in the Spring and Fall when the kids are in school. So that won't work. Norwegian offers a 7 day round trip cruise of the Hawaiian Islands, but the cost is significantly higher than a longer cruise elsewhere. This may be a back to the drawing board thing. In 1991 we flew to Hawaii and did the 7 night cruise of the Islands. It was fun, but you really have limited time on each island. I'm not sure that doing it again would be a huge benefit. We might be better off selecting a couple of Islands and exploring those Islands more thoroughly :confused3 I guess I should see what I can dig up about the new Disney Resort there.

So the DVC resort is to be build on Oahu. It is supposed to open in 2011. That means it should be up and running when we want to go there :cool1: We are thinking that if we go end of July beginning of August we will have more points available since our use year is Aug 1st. Theoretically we could have 4 years worth of point to use if we bank/use/use/borrow. I'm thinking this could be a really nice portion of our vacation.

Deb,

Did they say where on Oahu it was to be built?

Marci - 4 checked bags, 3 carry-ons, 3 backpacks. We are actually taking one bag LESS than we took last year! We are leaving 2 of our big suitcases at home. I bought another big suitcase after last year's trip, so DH is packed in one bag instead of 2. I packed DS in one of the bags DH used last year, which is bigger than the one I typically use for DS. I didn't actually count as I was packing. I figure there is no way around having to do laundry, so when the level of clean outfits looks low I will have to do some wash. DS has 3 pairs of underwear in his drawer, so hopefully that will get him through until Friday. :rotfl2: He thought he would wear his "plane" shorts today, but I told him he better put them back or he will be wearing nothing but underwear when we fly to WDW! He put them back. ;)
We'll be at SSR on the 5th. Early EMH at MK, late breakfast at CP, dinner at Citrico's. :)
Any big plans for your birthday?
I hope your hairdresser gets better soon! If she is out of commission for awhile, Landon is moving back to Dallas in September and he is taking new clients.

When I saw only four checked bags, I knew you couldn't possibly have packed two outfits a day for the length of your stay... Doing laundry isn't bad at all -- I normally get a glass of wine or soda, a book, and hang out while doing laundry. It is always a nice break for me.

AKL Concierge did a terrible job with my birthday a few years ago -- that's why I asked where you would be. DH called them and told them he was shipping my birthday present, and for them to please hold for my birthday... Of course, the box was sitting there in the room when we arrived. They didn't ask him if he wanted to order a cake or do anything special, and they never acknowledged my birthday. I didn't expect them to, but DH was very unhappy. Your birthday dining plans sound great!

We're actually headed to the Atlantis for a long weekend. We had planned Hawaii for this summer, but when DH lost his job we changed to DC for 6 days (using hilton/embassy suites points I had accumulated) and Atlantis for four.

We've decided to do a 3 week Hawaiian vacation the summer of 2012. That gives me 4 years to save. We're talking about doing a cruise, maybe out of Washington or California to Hawaii or from Hawaii back. That would eliminate such a very long flight in one direction. The last time we went it was a 15 hour flight from Vermont to Hawaii. Now I find myself starting to research. I don't know anything about Hawaii or cruises for that matter. We have plenty of time to plan so research it is :rotfl: Anyone have any cruises to suggest? Disney should have their new resort open in Hawaii by then (I think) so we will be able to use points to stay their for at least part of our stay. I'm even toying with the idea of buying points at the new resort once they start selling their :rolleyes1 Our first purchase should be paid off by then.

Two of my favorite things! I see you've already done a lot of preliminary research. :thumbsup2 Our trip with the boys for their first Hawaiian trip was supposed to be this summer, and we were going to do Oahu for a night (to see Pearl Harbor and the sub/destroyer as well) then Maui and the island of Hawaii. That is what my DIS friend who lives in Hawaii and who I met on my 40th birthday cruise had suggested for kids. Of course, we were only going for 9 or 10 nights, so you'll have more time to explore.

I'm happy to ask my friend for more advice. Our trip with the boys will probably be 2010, so I can get you more info then. I know Lindsay goes every year as well and always has good advice. Happy planning!

Deb- Planning for Hawaii, sounds like fun. I want to go to Hawaii in the spring like around January to April. When the humpback whales are around. I would love to do this whale watch or snorkeling tour. I want to learn to surf, I want to swim with the Manta Rays and I would love to do a helicopter tour, see Pearl harbor, and tour a pineapple plantation to name a few things.

My Mom and I wanted to go to Hawaii back in 1999. But my Dad wanted to go to WDW. We ended up staying at the Polynesian as we were traveling on travel rewards from my Dad's job. We were planning on staying at I think Coronado springs, but they had us stay at the Poly.

This trip ended up changing my life as on this trip I visited UCF and Jacksonville University. So I think this trip was in someone else's plan for me. Although I wanted to and still want to go to Hawaii.

Part of the reason I want to go to Hawaii is my Grandpa was stationed in Hawaii for a few years. He was actually in Pearl harbor when it was hit. I have wanted him to go with us. But I do not think that will ever happen.

Chris and I never did Pearl Harbor on our last trip as we were reporting missing luggage to the cruiseline. We'd like to do that along with snorkeling, macadamia nut plantation, body surfing, maybe a water park (there is one on Oahu), luau etc etc etc. It is hard for me to envision what the boys will want to do as they will be 9, 14 and 16 at the time. I'm sure they'll change a lot by then.

:scared1:

:lmao:

Now who will I talk to, with all of you running off to Disney?

Marci - Well, I am not surprised that IPO tossed it back to DH then! :headache: I did ask if they had any additional suggestions and they didn't, so it seems that they aren't quite as attentive/helpful as they could be. If the first cake doesn't materialize we might try to get one for the nights at AKV. We'll be off the dining plan by then an might actually be more interested in eating the leftovers! :rotfl2:
Atlantis sounds fabulous!!! Enjoy yourself!! :cool1:

Deb - Have fun with the Hawaii planning! :thumbsup2

Heidi - We aren't all going at the same time. I'll be back before Anne Marie leaves, and Deb and Jen just got back. There will be 6 of us gone all at once, but the dates all 6 of us overlap are short. You'll be fine. ;)

Momboss just called to tell me Talbots Kids is going out of business and they are having a big sale! Not sure if it is just ours or all of them. :confused3

Ok then.
