going to disney world in april for 10 days. any suggestions for this age group? we think we might buy a 6 day pass with the additional waterpark pass.

any parks and rides to avoid? any parks or rides to look forward to?

what did you do with them before they went? read lots of disney books so they know the characters???? watch lots of movies????

what about transportation?

thanks

BTDT and strangely enough...doing it again! :goodvibes When we went our first time that was the ages of our kids and now we have three and the baby will be 18mos. Since you are staying that long you can take your time and not rush. First off watch the movies over and over. We also do the WDW free dvd...that way the kids can see the characters over and over, and tell you want they do and don't want to ride or see. Don't expect that they will like everything even though they can ride it. Some of the rides are dark and scary, and 3-D attractions freak out my wild ride loving kid(DD 6yr) Get a guide book that can tell you what to expect for all the attractions(wait time, dark, loud, etc) Pre-planning I think is a huge tip and then get there relax and enjoy. We would spend the am in the parks, go back to the hotel room for naps, then back to the parks or pool in afternoon/evening. I think those are great ages to take kids to WDW! Have a magical trip! :wizard:

P.S. In my opinion...water parks don't work for us b/c we have one that doesn't care for them and then having the baby there that can't ride much of the rides she just wants to crawl or walk all over the place.
We stayed at the Poly so we would be on the monorail for most of our trasportation. Made going back and forth much easier!

What awesome ages for WDW. No matter what you will have an awsome time!!! I wish my kids were that young again....time flies. Enjoy!

When we went our girls were newly 4 and almost 2 so a bit older but anyway- we did most of the rides (no coasters or ToT) and all of the shows- the 3D ones were a bit challenging for the little one as the glasses were too big, otherwise she loved everything! We rented a side by side stroller form Baby's Best Friend and it was great for us! both could ride, and see everything -excellent for parades- and the seats both reclined so they napped in the stroller- we did not take brakes - we flew -no carseats because we had shuttles to all parks- GREAT. We did not do a water park because we felt DDs were too little. The water parks are very large and can be very crowded true they do have somethings for little ones but we did not think it was enough for the extra $ - we went to Sea World instead and enjoyed that alot! We did all 4 parks and 2 character meals (Pooh Breakfast at Crystal Palace and Princess Storybook Lunch in Norway) we just took our time and tried to do what they were really looking forward to. We also got the planning video and a couple of books so we kind of knew what was going on!

You are going to have so much fun!

We went last April (great time of year weather and crowd wise) with our 9 year old, 2 year old and 8 month old daughters and were anticipating many melt-downs but had NONE!

I researched alot, learned all about my favorite features fastpass and babyswap and talked to the kids beforehand about the characters (also received a Fairy Godmailer Postcard - that was AWESOME).

As did the pp, I also booked character meals - Pooh Breakfast at Crystal Palace (our favorite memory of the entire vacation - for your kids ages I suggest you do at least this one), Princess Storybook Lunch in Norway (to which my 2 year old wore her Sleeping Beauty Princess dress - buy it here so much cheaper - and although I didn't enjoy the food too much the Princesses were so lovely and my middle daughter is a Princess fanatic so it was fun to watch and we went to breakfast with Donald, Mickey and friends at Animal Kingdom - a GREAT breakfast and alot of fun for my husband as the original characters were always his childhood favorites.

We visited Orlando for just 5 days (Florida for 9 days but visited Fort Lauderdale first) and WDW for just 3 as we didn't want to be overwhelmed (did downtown disney the first evening - kids loved to dance in the streets - and lounged the last day, did a little shopping and packed up to go home). It is alot of work to haul babies around all day and stress isn't wanted on vacation. So my advice, pace yourself - you can always plan for another WDW vacation in the future and see what you missed (that way you can hang out planning on the Disboards) - find out the locations of the baby care centres (sometimes the air-conditioning alone is a thrill) and make sure you always have a FastPass in hand! BTW, Our top 2 rides for the babies were Pooh and Small World.

Have Fun!
