DD was thrown from her horse at lesson today!

With all the excitement due to my mom being ill...I forget I was gonna post!
DD rides western and was cantering around the barrels when my DEAR DS was hunting grasshoppers behing the riding ring. Well, MOOSE must've caught DS in the corner of his eye...it spooked him as no one usually is back in that area...he took off, DD hung on and handled it pretty darn well,,,but was thrown. Luckily she thought to lean toward the inside of the riding ring and not towards the wallboards...or she would have most likely been stepped on since the barrells were there also. It was quite a scare...and she is so mad that she got thrown and couldn't hang on. Her teacher said she hung on pretty darn long, and to come out of it w/just a scratched elbow and ego was something to be proud of.I am glad she wears a riding helmet. She got back on Mooses and continued her lesson...and muttered something about "having another thing to blame on her little brother".... Since this is DD first time falling or getting thrown....I think she will remember it for a while. But boy,that horse REALLY took off! Fastest she's ever experienced...EVER!

It's good that she wasn't hurt badly, and I'm sure it will be a story that she will be telling for a while, but it's good to hear that she had gotten back on. Thumbs up on wearing a riding helmet.

I'm glad she's alright. It is pretty scary, but each time she gets back on, she'll gain confidence.

A friend of the family has a horse that my oldest rides. This horse is a stubborn mule with a ornery streak. She's been thrown quite a few times. It just makes her more stubborn.

She's lucky. My sister was thrown from her horse, and the horse stepped on her arm.. and broke it!

Glad she got right back on!
