DD got engaged:cool1::cool1::goodvibes:banana::banana:
Any places that send freebies/samples/etc when you sign up or for engaged couples?

Thanks :)

I just got engaged myself and my fiance signed up for the theknot.com but I went to a bridal show recently and since then I have received a TON of emails from all sorts of vendors. It is actually kind of annoying because most of them don't tell me what I need to know, which is the price of course! But some I wouldn't have heard of if they didn't reach out to me.

Rexcraft.com will send you free samples of their invitations...Also if you search theknot.com there's a way to send an invite to the White House and you get a card back that the President/First Lady have signed.

There aren't really freebies. (nothing useful or cool anyways, more like samples you can't do anything with)

But- let them know to just register at every store they might buy ANYTHING from after the wedding!

Stores now send you coupons after your registry ends. Sometimes they will say it's 10% off anything left on the registry- but often you can buy anything in the store with it. Or they can just go in and register for random other stuff they will want to buy and then get the discount.
We did that at Target and (not sure if you still can, but) you could go in and add stuff to the registry after the wedding date. So I got our coupon in the mail and then added a bunch of stuff (clothes for my daughter, groceries, movies etc) and got the discount. They could even just open a registry that was all toiletries they normally would use and stack the registry coupon with regular coupons.
In the future, if it comes up, this works with baby registries too.

I just got engaged over Labor Day weekend. So far my absolute favorite resource is WeddingWire.com. Their vendor lists are very extensive and have great reviews. If you create an account, you can use their budget tool, which is awesome, compile your guest list, upload and keep track of inspiration pictures, create your wedding website, and join their forum (which is the best!). I like it a lot more than the Knot.

As far as freebies, good luck! The best I can tell you is that I signed up for a year subscription to Bridal Guide magazine but I just did it so I don't know if it works. Here's the link: http://www.weddingstand.com/Bridal-Guide-Subscription-Sign-up

I have also signed up with a lot of the dress websites to try and win a free gown. Doubtful, but you never know. :rotfl:

There aren't a lot of 'freebie' type things that you would sign up for and if there are, most things are pretty useless.

One of the best resources I found was The Knot message boards. I found most of my ideas from other brides on how to cut costs with still having a fabulous wedding.

I have a blog that where I documented a lot of my wedding planning. PM if you want the address.

Good luck and best wishes! I loved planning my wedding!!!
