DD ended up with about $250 in Itunes...

Free apps are great, but sometimes the new ones cost money. I would save part of it. Another thing to do is just ask around and see if anyone needs a card. Then say hey if I will sell it to you instead of you going to the store.

We dont use that much on music, but it is nice to get the apps without waiting for them to become free.

$250 really isn't that much if you want her to be able to acquire music and videos legally.

. My daughter got over $60 for her birthday and she wound up regifting most.

!

My daughter got 85.00 for christmas and is down to 20.00 in her account! I expect that to be gone pretty soon!

My daughter composes her own songs and creates her own "mash-ups" or "club-mixes" so Itunes cards for songs she already doesn't like.. doesn't do a thing for her.

She gave away a lot of them for bar/bat mitzvah gifts throughout the year. She kept one $20 and it hasn't been touched.

My DH has a $15 one from last Christmas (2009) and he hasn't touched it either.

MY DS had a few and it took him a long time to spend them as well.

OP:

Someone here on the boards checked out plasticjungle.com but they don't buy Itunes gift cards. I thought there was another website that did buy Itunes gift cards....but I can't remember. Anyone know?

I have always bought the CD for the artists she likes. We then put the songs she wants on her ipod and then have the CD for the car. Usually preorder on Amazon or other sites for the best deals.

We searched for apps tonight and found a few 99 cent ones to buy... still looking!

What about digital copies of movies? She'd have them for her touch and could watch them on the computer as well.

My DD would go through that $250 in no time and she only buys music. Every once in a blue moon an app. Never movies but that's because Mom tends to buy the blu ray/dvd/digital copy packs. She had the $50 card she got in stocking gone in about 20mins.

Me, I've spent maybe $2.00 on music at itunes, like you I prefer to buy the CDs and rip them. Maybe she can trade the cards to friends for cash and use the cash for CDs?

Wow... what apps are your kids buying? She got about $35 for her birthday with the touch and still has about $12 left in the account.

She is 11 and we have been following freeappalert.com daily to get free apps. So trying to figure out where $250 will go?
There are quite a few games that are popular, and some of those cost a few dollars. Movies cost more as do tv shows.

keep them for a raining day. lol... seriously they will get used over time.
dd got $100 in gift cards. Im sure it all will be gone in the next few months..Now ds he will have his for awhile which is fine.

Why not just listen to the iPod through the car stereo? Then you wouldn't be spending money on CD's and unused itunes gift cards. If your car doesn't have an iPod doc or plug, check out iTrip which is an inexpensive fm transmitter that you can use in your car to play an iPod.

That's exactly what I was going to suggest. My dd10 has had her touch for a year and buys music anytime she can get her hands on a gift card (birthday, christmas, valentines, etc). We keep our little device like the iTrip in the car and just hook up ipods to our car. Now we don't have the clutter of cds, don't have to worry about them being scratched, etc.
