i had to post this here...i figured the disney crazy people here would appreciate this...

as you know, DD's been in japan for the past 2.5 weeks...
she left Tokyo Disney Resort for the last part of her trip......
she was scheduled for 4 full days (4 nights) ending this morning....
she was supposed to check out this morning and head for one last night in tokyo before flying to thailand tomorrow (saturday)...
but a few minutes ago we got a call from her - guess where i am, she asks -- Tokyo Disney!!!!

she was already supposed to be in downtown tokyo somewhere....
but somehow their reservation for the japanese inn in tokyo got messed up - the only reservation on the whole trip that fell through......
so when they found that out (good thing they checked before they checked out) they asked the tokyo disney hotel how much it would cost to stay an extra night - the hotel said they could stay in the same room for the same rate (even though at tokyo disney, the rates more than double for the weekend!!)....so they said, GREAT, we'll stay another night..

and then they bought another ticket for Tokyo Disneyland and she called from there.....from a 100 minute line  for winnie the pooh (but she says it's the best ride ever so it's worth the wait....(i told her she could have plenty of pooh from our backyard with no wait at all, courtesy of our lovely dog, Buffy :lmao: )..

she also said that thunder mountain at TDL is much better than the one at WDW (she doesn't like the one at WDW)...

the sad news - Splash mountain has been closed their entire visit - for major refurbishment...:sad1: ...she said she can see they're doing major work on it...i feel bad for her friend who has never been to any disney park in her life....and to miss Splash Mountain....sad.....

on the other hand the work at PotC is finished and she says it's great - they've added jack sparrow, barbosa, and that guy with all the snakes all over his head whatever he's called....

and one other really fun thing - there's a halloween party there....i think it's included in the regular ticket...
anyway, you put your name in a lottery and if you win you get to be in the halloween parade.......so she and her friend were in the halloween parade last night and she said it was a BLAST!!!.....they were dancers together with the dancers behind the winnie the pooh float....and she said it was the most fun....
she LOVED dancing in the parade....:woohoo: :cool1: :cool1: :woohoo:

anyway...so now she's having her bonus 5th day at Tokyo Disney....
the only question is what to do with all the stuff she's bought - won't exactly fit into her backpack..

well that's all.....hopefully she'll share some pictures once she gets back from thailand (where she's going for some R&R from japan  )

Sounds like she is having a brilliant time :goodvibes

Great news

If my father ever sorts out the garage and finds my slides I'll upload some of my pictures from TD in 1990.

im always intrested to read about these things, think i would like to go there one day -:goodvibes
add it to my disney wish list im slowly working my way through.

do you know where you'll be staying?
if you make very advance reservations, you might be able to get one of the disney hotels for a reasonable rate....
her reservations were last minute, so the 2 disney properties would have been over $600/night...
but i was able to get them a room at the on-property Hilton for $175.....not cheap, but not too bad for japan....
and they were upgraded to a better room because she's hilton honours...(i enrolled her in hilton honours right when i made the reservations, but it still got them an upgrade when they checked in)...

and like the disney hotels, if you stay at the hilton, you're also guaranteed admission into the parks even if they're full......

she said the hilton's very nice....when they wanted to eat at chef mickeys (at the disney ambassador hotel) the receptionist at the hilton made the reservations for them......(to avoid the language problem)...

by the way, i forgot to mention that...she said chef mickeys was great - the food and the characters....very interactive and fun...

We fancy the Sunroute Plaza Tokyo. We are DVC owners and are going to use some of the points for the stay.

Thanks for all the info, I've saved it into my book for when I get into serious planning mode:)

that's great that you can use DVC points....the sunroute plaza is more expensive than the hilton for some reason -i'm not sure why, as the hilton has nicer rooms and is better located for the monorail (right across the street)...

But if you can use DVC points that's better than money :thumbsup2

she said the whole experience is definitely worth it...
the only thing that bothered her just a bit was being stared at so much...
somehow it worked out that she was there at a low time for foreign tourists, so she and her friend were the only caucasians she saw the entire time she was in the disney parks and at the hotel, and as a result they were the focus of a lot of staring - of course the fact that DD is 5' 11" tall and towers over everyone probably added a bit to that...she said it was initially a bit unnerving....but after a while they got used to it...

Sounds as though she is having a blast Beth, Im really looking forward to seeing some pictures when she gets back:thumbsup2
