DD 4 wants to ride space mountain

The only problem is she is only 431/2" tall. With her tennis shoes she is over 44". Would she still be safe? She is not afraid of anything. My only concerns of letting her ride is safety issue. Please advice.

If she measures 44" against their little height measure thing, then she should be fine. I remember DH saying that he was worried about DS's head & neck, he sat behind him and tried to hold & help support his head to keep it from getting jerked to hard.

My daughter's definitely a daredevil; when she made it to 40" tall she went on Tower of Terror with me and she was only three!

However, you can hold onto your kid on ToT, you can't hold onto them on Space Mountain! They have to sit in front of you.

So, we waited until she was 6 and I felt she was strong enough to hold on by herself before we went on Space Mountain. That being said, I was still totally freaked out the entire first ride, waiting for her to go flying out of the seat in front of me.

But, she made it, no problem (it was Mom who had the white knuckles), and is now one of her favorite rides. But she was about 46" and about 50lbs of muscle before I felt comfortable letting her on it.

My son is also completely fearless and he rode it for the first time when he was 6, and although he had no problem he didn't want to ride it again. I was so nervous he was gonna fly out or something because he is so light.
I personally would not let my 4 year old (if I had one, fearless or not) ride it because it is so dark and hard to reach over the seat and really hold them.
That's just my opinion though.

Hi!

My DS's 7 & 9 rode space mountain and loved it ...but I don't think I could let my little DS4 ride it...just yet. I think it all depends on how well you know your child. As for me, my DS4 will have a horrible time with it...I think. Good Luck!

I had a 4 yro who wanted to ride TT. I gave in and he was fine, I wasn't but he was. If they are the correct height I say let them do it. There are children who live to send us parents over the edge. I love my son dearly but is he a challenge. My pedeatrician called him precocious when my older son got the chicken pox vaccine and he didn't. He put his hands on his hips and asked Dr. Greco where his was. I have never seen Dr. Greco at a loss for words. He then asked me mom what do you think? I said give it to him while he still wants it. No chicken pox at our house ever. LOL There are just some kids that are born outside the box. I think we have a perfect example such as Walt himself. Thank goodness for these kids.

The only part that would bother me, would be not being able to hold onto my child while the ride was going..so if she needed comfoting and the ride could not stop..at least you would be there.
IMHO..I think 4 is too young.
I have a 45" tall 3.5 yo..who will be ready I am sure FOR LOTS MORE than I am willing to let her ride though..so just use your best judgement

My DD wants to ride it. She will be 5 the day before we get there. She's tall and about 45" so I'm going to let her ride. She'll love it... I'm a little afraid of her being in front of me but hopefully I'll be able to get over that.

If she measures OK, and she wants to ride, then it's up to you.

Keep in mind, though, that unless this is your once in a lifetime vacation to WDW, then you'll visit again when she is a little older and taller and she can ride it then...not the end of the world. I would definitely explain to your daughter that she may not be able to ride BEFORE you go to the park so she isn't devastated is she isn't allowed on.

These are the times I am glad my dds are short (4 1/2 yr. old is 37", almost 3 yr. old is 35"!)...I am going to be a nervous wreck when they are big enough and want to ride the thrill rides!!!

Good luck with your decision--Space Mountain is definitely a rite of passage. I rode it for the first time when I was 7 and loved it

My daughter was 5 last year but was the same height 43 1/2 inches. With her shoes on, she just barely hit the stick. She had to "stand tall" and she was checked at every point (3 in total). She absolutely loved SM and obviously had no problems. If your daughter is tall enough and not afraid I wouldn't worry. Just go and have fun. Yes, of course in the back of my mind I pictured her flying out of the rocket but reality is that is not going to happen. For some reason I felt better with her in the middle seat between me and my oldest daughter. But after riding SEVERAL times, we eventually switched so she could ride up front.
