Disney has already offered us some increased discounts, such as a few extra discounted
MVMCP nights, and I've heard of increased dining % discounts at Fulton's and the cheaper Wolfgang..
The current 4+3 room promotion is similiar to a typical 40% AP room discount.
I do not think
DVC has much interest in offering much cheaper cash rooms, as they'd keep you from buying more points, and/or hurt members that are using points to trade out to cruises..
But yes, Disney will offer some some discounts if they think it will get DVC members to spend more total money.
Of course, Disney knows they do not have to offer DVC owners a discounted vacation package to get us on property. Historically, Disney throws the most promotions at getting people on property. DVC owners took advantage of Disney's greatest ever promotion (DVC ownership!) and will use their points for DVC properties regardless of the economy.
At times like these, you just need to ask yourself, "How has DVC changed my vacations for the better?" To me that question's answer is certainly far greater in value than any of the "cash discounts" they are offering
