Hi! I am a fall 11 hopeful who will be declining the housing option. Has anyone done it and if so what is your experience? I know that they do check in for housing but where I'm not living in housing anyone know how that will work?? I am living off because I have two cats who will be moving with me and no, they can't just stay home, I live in an apartment with them now near my school so they are home with me. :) Mickey Mouse and Tigerlilly are excited about their upcoming move though (yeah right he he). I'm moving whether or not I get in the program. Just going to do a transfer in the company if I don't get in the program

Well calling should clear everything up but I had a friend who lived off campus during her program and I think she didn't have to stay for all the housing stuff, just check in and get her work location and then went to traditions for when she was scheduled.

I'd love to know as well, I'm from Orlando, so no point in paying for housing when I can live with my family. Tried calling, but had trouble locating someone who was 100% sure. I'm going to ask my interviewer when I do my phone interview.

I had emailed a rep about it this is my response about the whole declining housing.

" Participants are not required to live in our on-site housing accommodations. Any candidate is able to live in any off-site housing accommodations which he or she chooses to arrange. It is important to note that transportation is only provided to those participants living in our housing communities, and that any candidate living off-site must provide his or her own reliable transportation.

If you are accepted into the College Program, and will elect not to live in our housing, you would send a request to housing. Please be sure to include your full name, applicant number, and arrival date, along with a message that you are declining to live in housing accommodations."

I did the program without housing. You go to casting to check in and then are free till traditions. You just have to email housing to decline and they will need the address where you will be staying. You still have to pay the $100 fee. Ask questions at housing! Like directions to Disney University, where to meet at you location, be VERY specific. They just told me to meet at the time clock. When I got to DAKL I realized I had no clue where the time clock was! Also there is a weekly email that housing won't send to you but you can get the same CP info on the CP tab on the HUB.

If I don't know where I will be (I'm moving into an apartment in July) Can I just tell them the apartment complex or something? I'm actually not even sure which of the top three complexes I'm looking at I'll be moving into.

Hey! I'd be moving to an apartment too- declining the housing option. My puppy lives with my boyfriend and I and there is absolutely NO way I could live without her for 4+ months! I just worry about missing out on some of the fun housing things but i am sure i will meet people and still have a great time.

Question tho- Does anyone know if Cpers DONT live in the housing complexes- are you still allowed to attend the events they have? like the formals and all those other fun things that they hold in the housing complexes? i REAALLY dont want to miss out on those things! :yay:

Have you decided where you are going to move?? I'm deciding between my top 3 places

Well the formal is for CP's so you should most definitely be able to go to that one, and if they're making you pay the activities fee I don't see why you wouldn't be allowed to go to housing events, you would need someone to sign you onto the complex though since you wouldn't have a housing I.D.

If you want to attend any of the events, you just call or email housing and they put your name on the security list to be let in. As for the formal I was told it was for housing only, but I got more than one answer for some of my questions and had no interest in the formal so didn't really push. As was pointed out you will pay CPs so you can attend. Also the classes held at the housing complexes you can sign up for and attend.

I have been apartment searching and have narrowed it down to Alta Corners, Intgra Meadows at Stoneybrook, or Legends at Champions Gate. Anyone have any information about any of these places positive or negative to help me decide? I'll be moving on July 1st so I have a bit of time but plan to put my application in in April.

I live in a townhouse in Celebration. There's apartments here too and if you have a roommate it's a lot more affordable. I love the area, it's adorable. 4 of us live in a 3 bdrm and we all pay 375 a month. I share a room with my boyfriend.

One thing to be cautious about is being accidentally fired. Although they do have you on record as living off site it happened to my roommate on his college program. He didn't live in housing and one week they accidentally fired him for it. He was still able to work, it was just an annoying inconvenience. Price Management causes many annoying inconveniences...:headache:

Celebration is adorable but I am living alone right now so too much for me :) That fired thing though sounds crazy... Hope that doesn't happen to me!

I was scared it would happen to me since I moved out of housing early. I wasn't really living there anyway. I spent less than a month of my program actually in my apartment.
