I just read that you were our fellow diser in the accident with our bus the other day. Please let us know how you are felling. My husband and I were the ones who were on the bus trying to help and all we could worry about our whole trip was you and your dog.

JerseyMamaBear- I responded to your PM but wanted to thank you for checking on me when I was stuck in my van. I appreciated the help and encouragement. I was so worried about Skye and knew how lucky I was that we didn't flip over into the ravine. I've never been in an accident in my life and was scared to death. I keep reliving it in my mind and how close Skye and I came to losing our lives. I was told by the policeman at the hospital that had I not begun to slow down, and if I'd been going even 10 mph faster we'd have flipped over and over and likely been killed. I was actually preparing myself for that when my van suddenly stopped and the airbags deployed. IMO it was a real miracle, and also a miracle that the others involved weren't hurt or weren't hurt more seriously. A little boy received the worst injuries as he wasn't wearing a seatbelt- the policeman told me that family was getting a ticket for that. Right now I'm still at home and wish I was at work! My knee is still very painful and swollen. I'm not sure how long it will take for the swelling to subside or if this is normal. It's also hot to the touch and I can feel a "crunching" inside. I'm worried that the meniscus or a ligament may be torn. I have no way to go anywhere since my van was totalled although Mears (who got the ticket) has been great so far. They towed my van to their facility and got my w/c out and brought back to me that afternoon along with the contents of my van. They are trying to find accessible transportation but most of the rental companies here in Florida are transport vans only and that would require each person who drives me to be covered by their own insurance. Fortunately my new van has been in a shop since October getting the controls and equipment installed and hopefully it will be ready soon.---Kathy

Yikes Kathy! I didn't realize that was you when I was reading the posts earlier! Here's lots of :hug::hug::hug::hug: that you'll get a new van and that you and Skye are ok!

glad that you are ok! Hope everything works out ok with the new van! I knew you have been working for that one for a while, so I am glad to hear that they did not hit your new one!

I know! I actually thought about that when I was thinking of things I should be grateful for involving this accident.---Kathy

Kathy---:hug::hug::hug::hug: and more hugs and prayers for you (and that little boy). I saw the posts but never dreamed...well.....

Please keep us updated.

Kathy , thank God you and skye are going to be alright. God Bless you both. I hope your knee heals quickly as well as your emotional well-being!

Take Care

I can't imagine how scary it must have been.
I was in a bad accident once when someone ran thru a red light and hit me broadside as I was going thru on the green light. It was scary and I was on a level road. How much more scary it must have been to be so close to going into a ravine.

Glad to hear you and Skye are doing OK and hope your new van is done soon.

Kathy, keep talking about it if you feel like it. Heck, tell people the same story for the 240478393834th time if you need to. Hoping the reliving settles down quickly!

Don't know if they've got an equivalent in the US but we've got something called 'victims aid'. An organisation that specialises in helping victims of any kind in any way. From possible financial and legal stuff, to getting replacement transport into place and all the way up to emotional support etc. Might be worth looking into if they've got something like that in your region? Even if they could only help in finding replacement transportation, that would be just terrific!
