DCL Wedding!!! Bridgette and Shaun

Dress shopping was so much fun....
One of the consultants (not even mine) must have thought that I needed a veil and came from behind and slapped one on me.:confused3

I decided at that second NO VEIL. It just felt weird. So...

When I went to my sister's house last week. We went to Michael's and bought supplies for a flower for my hair. Davids Bridal had flowers but they were $50 !:scared1:

With my supplies for only $10, here's what I got.

But, now I am asking myself if I want my sister and daughter to wear the same flower, a flower of thier choice, or no flower?

CONGRATS! My fiance and I are 13 years apart so I understand!

And I'm a DCL Bride too! Just postponed from May to Sept. 26 '09!

The tropical colors of the dresses you like will be great! I picked bright yellow myself. (Check out my PJ!)

I checked out your dresses! I wish they were mine. They're awesome.

When you changed your date to September, did any of the details that you KNEW were set in stone, suddenly become uncertain?

I LOVE those dresses my bridesmaids have! I would've gotten one for myself in silver at the time, but they were sold out. I called a few months later actually about buying another yellow one for a possible bridal party addition...SOLD OUT! TOTALLY sold out!

Nothing in terms of details have changed. Were you asking about something in particular? The only thing that seems to perhaps be up in the air is who's going to come this time around. But really, all Jason and I NEED there are immediate family members and best friends in our wedding party. Everyone else coming is icing on the cake!

I like the flower a lot - its really beachy and fun. Could you do flowers that are similar but in other colors - or have the beads be different colors for different people?

I am sure whatever you decide will be great!

Now if only we could get DCL to be a little more cooperative with the wedding planning. I'm so excited for you to confirm the cake and flowers!

I want to hear all of the details about them not cooperating - it might make me feel a bit better! What do the cake and flowers look like? What did you choose?

Also I feel like I have missed something here but have you choosen your dress yet???

If we stick with the cruise wedding plan I was going to wear a really informal white tunicy cover up on the beach and then something much more formal for an onboard reception. Since I haven't found anything yet for the ceremony I am very curious to see what you pick.

Let me know.

I don't know if it's actually them not cooperating OR I just want more info than they are giving right now. It seems to me that DCL brides that are getting married at around the same time as me, have more info than I do.

I called a couple of weeks ago, but didn't get Cathy, I got Jon her assistant(?). He assured me that I was up to speed with my planning, but Cathy would call me back to discuss things with me. She never did.

I am dying to talk to her about Location(my worst fear is that another bride will be on MY cruise and take Deck 7 away from me), Cakes, Flowers, Music, Day of ceremony, etc...

Thats the same problem I am having. Apparently Cathy put our date on her calender back in the end of dec or beg of Jan and I still haven't gotten a contract or anything.

Its hard because my imagination is running a bit wild and I am scared then when they do finally send me the packet with all the options I will be a bit disappointed. I guess I have pretty much figured out exactly what I want and have no idea if they can do it.

Sigh. I just keep thinking time will fly and then it will be our turn to finalize plans and details and stuff.

Cathy hasn't emailed you your Planning Guide yet? :scared:

I remember it taking WAY longer than I wanted it to to get that email. I called a couple of times, just to check if she sent it and I accidentally deleted it.

I do have My dress, Bridesmaid dresses, Flower girl dress, and of course the flower for my hair. Those are the things that are final.

For flowers I am choosing the tropical bouquet

For cake I am choosing round ( all you get is round or square WHITE cake)
He is choosing flavors.

I think thats what I will do. I have one other flower. I just have to go to Michael's for another for my daughter and some Banana and Mango colored beads.

I also need to think about shoes. I know I want flip flops. What I don't know is 1) how "fancy" 2) should I just make them myself.
Im thinking of embelishing a casual pair.

A few weeks ago I was freaking out about the same thing. When I called to check on the date initially she said that there was only one spot left for my cruise, meaning I assume that there will be another onboard wedding on my cruise. I e-mailed Cathy and she said she had me down for Deck 7 and I was fine.

Thanks, I never thought of e-mailing her. DUH

Our proposal was not extravagant, well planned, or even all that romantic.

We went to Zale's together to buy the ring. check

We then went to dinner at a semi formal seafood restaurant. check

I knew he had the ring in his pocket. check

Now , the funny part. He is VERY easily embarrassed, and was nervous about the situation, even though I knew it was coming. He was afraid that if he whipped out the ring in the restaurant, then I would then scream loudly for all to hear, and all eyes would be on us.

His solution?
Go to the bathroom.
Take the ring out of the box and into pocket.
Walk (almost running due to nerves) back to the table.
Put ring on finger quickly without anyone noticing.

All worked out as planned for him until he spoke. In order to keep the chaos that I could potentially create to a minimum. He almost didn't stop when he got to the table(from the very fast walking), and said.... " Now, here you go. Will you marry me?":lmao:

I, of course, not wanting to draw attention. Quietly said "Yes". We had the best evening together, and even though it's not the most romantic story. It is our story, and suits us just fine.

I LOVE THIS STORY! We had a very similar situation...Congratulations!

We are getting married on the 3 day Wonder on 5/22/09. Just about 54 days away but who's counting. :rotfl: I am so excited. :dancer:party: We wanted deck 7 but since we have more than 20 people we can't have it there. Instead we are getting married in the Cadillac Lounge which is fine. :bride: Even though this is a 2nd marriage for both of us, I wanted a wedding gown and he is wearing a tux. I told all the guest that they can wear whatever they feel comfortable in so I imagine some might be in shorts and some might be more formal. Hey it's Disney. I'm just there my friends and family will be there.

Congrats to YOU !!!:woohoo:

Of all the DCL brides Ive seen you are getting married first.:cutie:

I did email Cathy yesterday, so hoping for some info by Monday evening.
We are 18 right now including Bride and Groom. So we are just under the mark of using Deck 7. I don't want to use Cadillac Lounge for one reason. I can get married in a bar at home. If Deck 7 is not available, I am going to spring for the extra $1000 to have Castaway Cay.

Shaun does not want to wear a tux. It was funny on dress shopping day I said to him " Depending on what I buy today, you may have to wear a tux"
His first question when I got home... " What do I have to wear?"
Fortunately for him, he is off the hook. It looks like Khakis, as nice shirt, and flip flops!

Well the shoe delima may have been resolved. I am loving the ones I found and am hoping the bride will too!!! I think they will be just right.

As for Shaun in a tux....get real Bird!!! You would never do that to him. He'd probably say...."this tux hurts" :rotfl:

My sister - Mrs. JD- has answered the shoe question. We will all be wearing the white sandals:cutie:

I strongly feel that MY pair needs a hidden mickey on the thong. Thoughts on that anyone?

most def need a hidden mickey.

is that why you asked me what the toe part was called?

ps, my DD3princess: is a pro at finding hidden mickeys. she has found them in her bubbles in her bath, at Disney when she was only 2.5yo, and most recently at her daycare in the flower crafts the kids did.

i really feel badly for the people who just don't "get" Disney. hubby being one of them...if I could just get him there once, I know he'd fall in love. even if he would never admit it.

I am soooooooooooo excited!

Cathy emailed back today.:worship:

I have 18 guests and I am booked for Deck 7!:dance3::banana::banana::dance3:

I feel so much better, just to get some solid info.:cloud9:

Thanks for the Yay!

Question: How did you get pics in your wedding gown at the castle if you got married on the cruise? I've been thinking to myself " How fun would it be to get the epcot pics". I didn't think it possible.
