Ok.... Here's our story.

The year 2000...

Bridgette and Shaun met at work 9 years ago. He was 19. She was 26, with a 6 year old daughter.

It seemed the unlikelyest of pairings to everyone. Including the couple. As it were, they fell in Love. The it has not always been "smooth sailing" (pun intended). In fact, all bets were placed against the success of this match.

The year 2009...

Those who would have placed that bet, would have lost. - Big Time -

Bridgette is now 35. Shaun 28. Through all the ups and downs of the relationship... Not once, ever, did either ask the other
"Do you truely love me?" That was the ONE thing that was given.

The couple could not be in a better place than they are right now, and have decided it is time - to get married. There is something to be said for getting over the 7 year itch before making rash decisions.

A Disney wedding is the ONLY way this Bride to be would have it.
So DCL it is. November 1 - 5 aboard the Disney Wonder!

Congrats!!

Funny..we have a similar story! You will love DCL!

Our proposal was not extravagant, well planned, or even all that romantic.

We went to Zale's together to buy the ring. check

We then went to dinner at a semi formal seafood restaurant. check

I knew he had the ring in his pocket. check

Now , the funny part. He is VERY easily embarrassed, and was nervous about the situation, even though I knew it was coming. He was afraid that if he whipped out the ring in the restaurant, then I would then scream loudly for all to hear, and all eyes would be on us.

His solution?
Go to the bathroom.
Take the ring out of the box and into pocket.
Walk (almost running due to nerves) back to the table.
Put ring on finger quickly without anyone noticing.

All worked out as planned for him until he spoke. In order to keep the chaos that I could potentially create to a minimum. He almost didn't stop when he got to the table(from the very fast walking), and said.... " Now, here you go. Will you marry me?":lmao:

I, of course, not wanting to draw attention. Quietly said "Yes". We had the best evening together, and even though it's not the most romantic story. It is our story, and suits us just fine.

I have decided to go with Banana and Mango as my official colors.

Here are some BM dresses that have been considered.

Nevermind... I messed up the image. Will try again later.

The girl on the left has the exact colors I want. The girl in the yellow "banana" dress has the wrong color sash for me.

I love the colors! You are so organized! We are 3 months after you - I have been "trying" to plan since last November I haven't even thought about BM dresses yet.

What are you thinking as far as the flowers?

My daughter is getting married on the Cruise November 9, 2009!!!! Good for you it seems that there are more Cruise Brides now, how exciting. Have fun with your planning I love the colors you have picked out!!!

Hey, those aren't the same BM dresses we looked at before?!??!?! Good thing we have an appt this Monday to try on dresses!

I am sister to the bride and I guess Bride's Matron (married 15 years, and I'm the younger sister hahah). I am also one of the doubters she spoke of in her original post. But nine years later it is obvious to us all that Shaun and Bird and a true match. :scared: for some reason this little freaked out smiley always reminds me of Shaun.

I'm so excited to see all of these DCL brides.

I'm glad that you started your pre trip report and I'll be checking in ...even though we talk on the phone everyday about the cruise and wedding!

PS...right now you are on your way to my house....from WV all the way up to WI! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I just spent the week in Wisconsin with my sister, and ALL dresses have been purchased!

Here is my dress. NOT a good picture of me, but you get the point.

LOVE the dresses!

Thanks! I love them too.. I (like you) want to keep it casual. It's turning out to be a touch more formal than I originally thought. But, still casual enough that I won't ask my 15 guests to dress up. Cruise attire required;)

I didn't intend to buy an actuall wedding dress. I was going to go with a white sundress, but the more I looked, I decided that I wanted a little more.

Your dresses are perfect and beautiful! :lovestruc I love them. I originally wanted to go more casual, but I also wanted pictures at Cinderella's castle. So then it turned into a big ballgown, and a formal affair. I think you have just the right mix of casual elegance. :thumbsup2

Well it's about time you mentioned my beauty! hee hee!:rotfl:

I also love the dresses. The flip flops that we will wear will keep things very casual. I think that the flower girl dress is my fave of all of them. We had a great time picking them out and doing some wedding planning while Birdrav was up here.

Now if only we could get DCL to be a little more cooperative with the wedding planning. I'm so excited for you to confirm the cake and flowers!

7 months seems like forever.

CONGRATS! My fiance and I are 13 years apart so I understand!

And I'm a DCL Bride too! Just postponed from May to Sept. 26 '09!

The tropical colors of the dresses you like will be great! I picked bright yellow myself. (Check out my PJ!)
