DCL transfer

I have just been viewing a few threads regarding DCL transfers and it has, as ever prompted queries.

We will be staying in Orlando before and after our cruise. We will be renting a car via Virgin travel both sides of the cruise. As Virgin use Dollar, we have to return the car to Orlando MCO prior to the cruise. I thought I was being clever by opting for a DCL transfer, after all they are collecting people from the airport already.

My concern is luggage. Mention has been made that special luggage labels are issued that mean bags are spirited away from plane to ship. How will that work for us/ Will we have to carry our luggage with us onto the coach and drag it through the boarding process?

Thanks for posting this question, I was just about to do it myself! We are also staying in Orlando the night before the cruise (Hawthorn Suites) and don't know what to do with our luggage day of cruise

If you are staying at the Hyatt at MCO & have Disney transfers, they will take your luggage the night before & you will not see your luggage until it arrives on the ship. If you are staying at another hotel, I am not sure what you would have to do.

We had a small carry on & laptop that we carried onto the ship ourselves. We had bathing suites & some meds in the carry-on. Once we were able to get in our stateroom, about 1:30 ish, we changed & the kids went swimming.

If I understand your question correctly, you're returning your rental car at the airport and then hopping on the DCL bus to go to the port. If so, when you check in for the bus (your documents will tell you where to go), make sure the cruise line's tags are on the bags, and they'll take them at the bus check-in. The next time you see them, they'll be delivered to your stateroom on board. You won't have to drag them into the port terminal during check-in for the cruise.

I have used Virgin many times and booked WDW and DCL as well there are many options;-

If you have the car with dollar the whole time,

1/ Drive to Port Canaveral yourself and cancel the transfers, parking at port costs $10 a day.
2/ if staying at WDW leave the car there and have the transfers saving luggage transfers, as inlcuded. You state oyu are staying before and after.

I had all my luggage collected by DCL coach when staying at the Poynesian.

If you are handing your car back and doing transfers to from port, you will need to get the luggage to the DCL coach at the airport, with tages, they will look after it from the time you board the coach to stateroom.. And simular they will bring it back to the airport from DCL.

I opted for DCL to take my luggage from WDW, but drove myself there last time.
