DCL Summer 2017 Megathread - Itineraries are out!

but in Europe for one thing- most police don't even have guns.
That is not true. Most police forces in Europe do carry guns with some exceptions. Indeed, most police officers in the UK do not have a gun, but it is not all of them and in case of terrorist attacks it is not the police who deals with that but the special squads and the military forces.
In Europe people generally do not have private guns and therefore it is a serious crime that is severally punished.

Yes, this is true. I also would put out that one cannot talk in matters like this of Europe in general. There are so many different countries in Europe that run their police force individually. Italian police will be different from German police which will be different from UK police and once again different from Russian police etc.

You are both right. This is a huge generalization on my part. The US also has differences between states, although maybe less so. Even your local school district police in the US tends to be armed. I guess the big difference is that the citizenry in Europe is not armed, and average people tend to be the first ones on the scene. This also is not equal in all US states and locations, as some states have stronger gun cultures than others and some places do not allow guns (wdw, to name an obvious one). But the really big problem right now is that Europe is being flooded with "refugees" who may or may not want to cause chaos for society. This would not stop me from going to Europe, but I would think it would give cruise lines pause.

The Fantasy now has Florida resident rates for every June 2016 sailing. Something has to be up with summer bookings. Not one sailing is sold out for the Dream or Fantasy.
For a lot of people, I think $$ + higher airfare + zika = vacationing somewhere else this summer. WDW is also slower this summer (probably because people are waiting for the new attractions to open up) and that must affect DCL, too, since people combine those vacations.

Well, my lack of patience got the best of me. I decided to book the Carnival Magic for a NYE cruise in Dec 2017. Kids are off, don't have to feel guilty about pulling my kid out of school to get a cheaper cruise rate. I MAY just do a 3 day Dream as a last minute cruise on a FL resident discount around October of next year during their Halloween decor...but Fantasy is out. I got I think a really good deal for a NYE cruise booking so far in advance. $500 deposit, but that's okay..no way will I get an oceanview for 1800 during a holiday break for a 7 day eastern caribbean cruise on the Fantasy...so I'll lick my wounds but not really as I saved a bunch of $$ and will be crossing off another item off my bucket list....a cruise during a NY's eve celebration! Win Win.
I hope the cruises do come out soon for the rest of you folks wanting to plan for your vacations!!

I'm thinking exactly the same thing. So this would mean DCL itinearies will be out next week.
Let's hope my magic crystal ball was right and DCL will finally announce itineraries next week. :sail:
April 20th is NEXT week, so the week before is THIS week!

We booked Celebrity (Solstice) for June 30. Got a great rate during the sale in a Sky Suite. First cruise ever not DCL but we are very excited about Celebrity
We're booked on the Solstice as well. Seems like Celebrity and Seabourn are the only lines that come close in comparison to what attracts us; service and dining.

Yes, that's why we went with the Solstice. Many people seem to prefer the itinerary that includes Glacier Bay but we really liked the features on the Solstice and the itinerary was really similar to DCL. We've booked Alaska 2x on DCL and have always changed it because of pricing. We love concierge and it is really pricey of late. Our room on the Solstice is comparable to a Concierge Family Stateroom ( not available on the Wonder) and we are paying less than a non concierge family on DCL. We also got free drinks, free gratuities, and over $500 OBC between Celebrity and TA. My son will miss DCL but we think this will be a great vacation!

We've decided to put off Hawaii for a couple years ... newest idea is an Eastern Canada cruise with a potential btb Bermuda itinerary on HAL. On such a port intensive itinerary, and during prime summer season, I think we'll be ok on HAL even with kids. Unless Disney comes out with something similar, or equally appealing, within our price range, in the next short while, it looks like I will be cancelling our existing OBBs.

I have heard rumors that several cruise lines will be offering tax free sales. It would seem like it would be in DCL's best interest to release the new itineraries before then.

Many cruisers would love to see DCL going to Bermuda too. With the concerns some folks have expressed about some European itineraries, you'd think DCL would consider sailing out of Boston, Baltimore or even NYC to Bermuda next summer instead.

Personally, I'd like to see what DCL will be offering for Europe in 2017 because we are considering a Med cruise next year. However, I know a lot of folks would love to see a DCL ship sailing out of the northeast/mid-Atlantic for summer itineraries too. They could alternate between Canada and Bermuda.

Let's hope they announce something tomorrow. Anything! Even if we don't get to book until later. pixiedust:

I was in a sky suite on the solstice and absolutely loooooved it! The full breakfast on the full sized balcony table is fabulous. Enjoy!

i am onboard the Wonder now and they said rest of 2017 would be released in "2 weeks". Your mileage may vary...........
