DCL returning to NYC in Fall 2016

October??? C'mon DCL...you need to return in the summer! And if they were smart, they would have stuck around a couple more weeks into November sailing out of NYC to take advantage of Jersey Week.

Jersey week would be awesome. We were on the wonder in November during Jersey week, large percentage of travelers were from Jersey, they have to know there would be a huge demand for this

This is so exciting! I work in NYC and live in NJ, so this would be extremely convenient for us! I am also nervous about the prices though!

If I recall, fares were high for the 2012 cruises out of NYC as well. Here's the thread with those opening day rates:

We paid something like $4K for an 8 night out of NYC, for 2 adults 1 child, category 11C in Aug 2012. Considering flights to PC would have cost us about $1000 (and we just took a cab to the port!) it actually wasn't too bad. For folks who still have to do a bit of travel to get to NYC, the cost benefit might not be there, but for us it was truly priceless to be able to hop in a cab from our apartment the morning of departure. We also live by the Hudson, and we spent that summer watching the ship sail out, which was so cool to see! Bummed none of the sailings coincide with school breaks, otherwise we'd do it again in a heartbeat.

I can't find these itineraries on the website. Where are they hidden?

I couldn't find them on the website, but got this in an email from my TA:

Return to New York

On Oct. 7, 2016, the Disney Magic will sail from New York on an eight-night Bahamian cruise that includes stops at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay; Nassau, Bahamas; and Port Canaveral, Florida, which is located just one hour from the Walt Disney World Resort.

On Oct. 15, 22 and 29, 2016, the Disney Magic will sail from New York on seven-night cruises that stop at Castaway Cay and Port Canaveral.

Adding to the magic on each of these Bahamian cruises will be the opportunity to visit the Walt Disney World Resort when the ship stops at nearby Port Canaveral. Each guest on these sailings will receive a one-day Walt Disney World Park Hopper ticket and round-trip transportation for the short trip between the ship and the resort.

On Oct. 2, 2016, the Disney Magic will sail from New York on a five-night cruise to Halifax, Nova Scotia and Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada. In these charming Canadian ports, guests can soak in splendid natural vistas, explore historic sites, visit quaint cafes and shops, and browse Canada’s oldest farmer’s market.

It looks like it will be during Jersey week. Teacher's convention is November 10-11 2016 and there is a 6 night NY to San Juan sailing November 5. That would mean kids would miss 3 days of school. Wouldn't work for me with a high schooler, but if my kids were younger, I'd pull them right out

Where do you find the itineraries for fall out of NYC?

I just looked at the calendar, I thought the 10/29 sailing would cover Jersey week but it is the following week! You are right, why didn't they extend it one more week? I was willing to let my son miss a couple of days of school but not a whole week!

I thought the same thing. We can't make that. Not taking my daughter out of school for a week.

But they don't start until October! We are outside of Philly, and the NYC departure in 2012 worked out so well for us. Guess I'll just have to stick with my plans of sailing out of Port Canaveral this August!

All the NYC dates are blocked out for OBB except for the 11/5 repositioning to San Juan.

Now how about some GOOD options for the West Coast? But yeah NY is very exciting!

The Wonder does the west coast, since she's the only DCL ship that can still squeeze through the Panama Canal. And the Wonder will be in dry dock in fall of 2016. It will be interesting to see where she ends up in the fall of 2017.

Yeah, she does the west coast, but it isn't much. Of course, with all the unrest in Mexico it takes out a lot of those ports.

But the ship doesn't return to NY. So you'd have to fly back from San Juan. Kind of defeats the point of the NY port.

October is such a strange time..... i thought the 29th would cover Jersey week but it does not :( I am sailing on the October 31st sailing from Port Canaveral this October and it seems like most of the ship is from Jersey - for Jersey week.
