AHHHHH!!!!! I am so excited. Not only did I just get back from the most fabulous Disney Magic Cruise, we became DVC memebers also!!! Saratoga Springs for me and the family :D

Anyway, I'll get to the point. Of course now we are completly hooked on the cruise thing and already planning our next one. Therefore...I have a few questions (for anyone who might know) about the cruise and how points work.

So there are 5 adults and 5 kids involved. Question 1) It indicated first two adults at a given point value and 3rd and 4th at a lower point value. What about the 5th adult?? Higher point value or lower point value??

Question 2) Little different subject but if I understand the way the point work and banking and borrowing...you could conceivably have three years worth of points to use at once, if you bank one year and borrow the next....is that correct??

Question 3) And this one is dumb, I'll admit that upfront,...Are there any restrictions on how far in advance you can make reservations for the cruise.

Thanks in advance!

To answer question 2.....yes you can have access to 3 yrs pts at once.(banked, current, and borrowed)

to answer question 3......the farthest you can make reservations with pts is 11 months out.

With 5 adults and 5 children, you will need at least two Category 4 rooms or three rooms in Category 5-11.

The points listed are for the first two in each room- adults of children. If there are 3 adults in one room, the first two will pay the higher point amount and the third will be less. If there is one adult and one child in the room, both will pay the points for the 1st two in the room.

Points may be banked and borrowed so you can have up to three years worth available for one reservation. Cruise reservations- like all home resort, Concierge Collection, Disney Collection and Adventurer Collection reservations- may be made 11 months in advance.

Enjoy!

Hi Stacie,

First off, Welcome Home! ;-)

I just recently used my points for me and a friend on the 4-day Wonder cruise and it was awesome!

However, in thinking about the possibility of booking another cruise, I'm not so sure I'd actually use my points to do so.

For example, if you were to book a 4-night Bahama cruise for next November, Cat 6 Deluxe Verandah for 2 Adults through DCL it comes out to roughly $2000.

Looking at next years points schedule this would cost me 270 points to book. If I were to instead rent those 270 points at $10/point, then I could cover the cost of the cruise, plus a good portion of my yearly maintenance fees.

So, while booking my cruise with DVC points was simple, convenient and almost no cash outlay, it's not necessarily the best deal you can get on a DCL cruise.

Regards,

Dan W.

Welcome home.

You also have the option to pay one adult with points and one adult cash for each room if you want to save points and/or cash.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and all the info!!

You guys are the best!!
