Still do, just am not one of the CM's who wave the hands anymore...=o( My shift leaves before the ship does.

Thanks for the compliment. And thanks Kelly for yours as well. Can't wait to see you guys soon.

Subscribing to the thread. I have really enjoyed the pictures! It took me over a week to go through them all. I excited to be able to add a few of my own later this year.

Christmas tree on the Wonder..

These two go together ..This is looking at the other side of the lobby...where you'll come aboard ship.....

Which beach did you go to?

That was directly off the ship and walking to the shopping area to the left...

Unfortunately, we were not comfortable there. While walking we got bombarded with "braid your hair?" "rent a beach chair?" "time share tours" the entire walk.

The beaches at St Maarten are beautiful, but if you go, I would recommend you only go on guided tours.

My shot of the day, the view of St Maarten from the ship...

Thanks - My mom and I are wondering what might be best to do there... a tour of the island or go to one of the beaches. She's been to St. Martin @ 12 years ago...I'm not trying to keep up with THAT trip!!!

Very nice shot TW...:thumbsup2

These are beautiful shots! You have done great work with these! The bottom one is the saddest one I have ever seen though... that beautiful ship saling away with me on it!!!:sad2:

BEAUTIFUL Darlene!!! They are simply beautiful - actually they are both pieces I would see selling quite well!

:) Kelly

Orient beach is really nice...

but clothing is optional at the other end. The area seems quite poor, my friends said that was apparant on the drive to their excursion.

We went back to the ship and had a wonderfully quiet afternoon.

Do the beach excursions leave you time enough to get back to spend some time shopping, etc in town?

The other side of the island has better shopping~

there is an excursion that takes you there...

the stuff we saw in the clothing and knick knack shops near the port were no different than what is sold at the Jersey shore. Unless you are into jewelry, then it's worth hitting the shops. The jewelry is what makes St Maarten and St Thomas popular.

Yes, most do.

The port shopping area is a 15 minute walk only cause you have to go out to the road and then back into the harbor~

Be prepared to be inundated by street vendors, that can take alot of time away from you. They are very persistent to the point that they are almost scary.

So...

Step 1. Go to nude beach with 75 year old mom - who watches HBO with me because my sister would be too embarrassed to do so...

Check

Step 2. Hit shopping at ports just to wander and pick up same crap I could get at the shore - made in the same country as stuff made at shore. But would I still be able to get oval LBI sticker for my car? (even though it is other part of my family that goes there, not I...) Bring along small instrument to beat back peddlers who want to take all my money and braid my hair...

Check.......

(Actually as an ex-Jersey girl myself... after spending lots of time at my grandparents bungalow by Sandy Hook, I moved upstate and am now a freshwater baby (GIVE ME MY LAKE ANYDAY!!!)

:lmao: :thumbsup2

That is too funny~~~

Someone else may have had a better experience than I, I can only attest to what I did the one day my family was there....

The Adult pool lounger was my lake...it was so peaceful, noone was onboard. I got my nap, a shower and even made it to the early stage shows both the day we were at St Maarten and the day we were at St Thomas.

I'm hoping Mexico and Key West on the 7 day Western turn out more entertaining than the two days we spent on the islands in the carribbean. Castaway Cay was a welcome reprieve...all the comforts of the Carribbean with none of the sales pitches~

Yeah... but I'm sure those people in Mexico are selling the same stuff they sell at the Jersey shore!!! :lmao:

Also made in the same place as the stuff from St. Martin, etc...

You're ex Jersey??? Ok.. Fess up...

I spent my childhood summers in Seaside Heights!! But once a Jersey Girl always a Jersey Girl! I will never get used to living in CA

I wanted my brother to get me one, - I saw it online...

They are selling "Jersey Girl" shirts on the boardwalk

Fudge or taffy?

You can PM me if you'd like...

& for the rest of those not from Jersey...

We now return you to the DCL Picture of the day board....:yay:

We thank you for your patience...
:)

My father is Mexican, so I want to do at least one excursion in Mexico that takes us to the Mayan ruins. Key West I'd like to see...but the rest of the trip, I most likely will do what I did on my first cruise...enjoy the quiet of the adult pool and r e l a x~

(btw-not ex-Jersey, Still Jersey...born and raised.)

...my pic o the day, coming right up...
