Hey - what about "Mickey" by Toni Basil, and "Come Sail Away" - I think it is Styx?? Would you be interested is 'selling' one of your cd's to someone that isn't as good w/the I-tunes and burning CDs? (that means me! :worship: LOL) All the songs are great - All of the music is really upbeat and great to get people in the party mood!! Are you giving the CDs to your guests as gifts??

Laurie

OK- DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH - I just read the 'afternote' on your post about NOT helping the helpless w/copies! :guilty: LOL - sorry - I'll figure out how to do this burning thing - if not, but 11 year old will do it for me! I have a lot of those songs on CD too - so, won't be too much i-tunes, I hope! LOL

Laurie <-- not reading to well again today - LOL

Oh - and BTW - I have a great idea to share for a dessert - I have to look the recipe up and I'll post when I get to work - gotta get out of here now!!

TTYL!

Who said they were spending hundreds of dollars on our parties? Not that it is anyone's business, Yes, I have spent some money, though not hundreds, and it is because my family and friends are worth it!!
What am I getting out of it? A great time with my family and friends, a chance to talk about my passion of Disney, the cruises, even theme parks and share ideas with people who are cruising DCL. If Disney gets a booking, which they have, good on them! For me, it's more people to talk DCL cruising with. If you are throwing a party to "get" something from Disney, why bother? Why is the question "What do we get?" keep turning up here? Why does this have to be a, "What's in it for me thing"? Yeesh! :sad2:

Anywho I hope everyone has a great party. Good Luck.

btw a $50 obc is good enough for me.

I think this was a little rough. The poster was only asking. Please remember the guidelines of the DIS. http://www.wdwinfo.com/guidelines.htm

This seems to be a fun thread, and everyone is having fun with it.. Please be kind to others and not attack anyone....:flower3:

I hope you saw my second post where I 'caught' myself! What do you want at 6am! LOL

So... you didn't answer my question  - Are you going to give them out to your guests? I think that would be a great idea - and keep everyone in the cruise mood - ya know?!?!?!?!?

Laurie

Is anyone having a DCL House Party in the Kansas City area? DH and I would like to go to get pumped for March cruise.

I hope I didn't already post this. :)

I am going to try to do a lot of make-ahead food this weekend. One thing I am making is a Bacardi rum cake, which can "marinate" in the fridge for a week. It's a Cake Mix Doctor recipe, which I will post if anyone wants it. For some fun little door prizes, I am going to pick up a few of the small Tortuga rum cakes like you can buy in Nassau. There is a store in my neighborhood that sells the little ones for $5.99 (should have picked up some extras in Nassau, d'oh!).

I am also going to make Crab Delights, which are very easy to make ahead and freeze and then pop in the oven at party time. It's a cheesy crab spread on an English muffin quarter. Will post the recipe if anyone wants it. :goodvibes

Here is a GREAT dessert recipe - kid friendly - and FUN - totally perfect for this party!!

The recipe on the site is for "dirt" - but you can modify it and make "sand" instead - I actually did this for my son's pirate pool party this summer - the recipe on the kraft site has then in individual cups, but, I made a double batch - and put it in a sand pail - it was a HUGE HUGE hit!! The parents loved it as much as the kids - and I put swedish fish on the top to decorate.. SO cute - and delicious - and, you can use the fat free variation if you wanted - that's what I am doing - UGH - love to diet.. NOT!!!!

I wanted to paste a link, but was not successful in pasting the link directly to the recipe- so, I copied an pasted the recipe itself...

If you want to see the whole thing, go to:
www.kraftfoods.com
and type in DIRT - you'll see it there.

Has anyone priced party platters from Sam's Club, Costco or BJ's? We belong to all 3 clubs and I can't find any prices on line anywhere.

I think we are going to skip ordering pizzas and go with a sandwich ring and mini crescent sandwiches. We would also like to order a shrimp tray, fruit platter and veggie platter. We are going to order a bucket of 100 wings from Bill Bateman's Bistro and have some other side dishes, dips/chips and desserts. We were thinking of ordering a sheet cake with a picture we have of the Magic at CC put on it and add the little plastic DCL figures we have (after we clean them of course). I think the dirt pudding recipe may also have to be used. I'll also get my chocolate fountain out I got a year or two ago as a gift (and never thought I'd use!) and have graham crackers, marshmallows and cut up fruit for dipping.

I found a cremsicle punch I'm going to do, along with sodas, bahama mamas, konk coolers and apple juice.

Been running all different foods through my brain...I have decided also on the Choc. fountain but don't want to buy one so will see who has one. I wasn't to do a Dessert buffet with lots of choices but in small portions. The only thing for food that I have decided on so far is the Fruit soup and shrimp....

Will rack my brain this weekend and have it all down. Still have to finish putting together my videos and everything and go to Party City to get Pirate stuff and other stuff.

As for this party costing so much...yup for me it is hundreds but only because I want to entertain my friends with all that I can and it is also my 50th B-day party with the girls. We also have the money and if we did not than no way would I put forth so much.

I think we are all looking for a little bit of thanks from Disney. I for sure don't want to give them free advertising just because. I can do a party without using there stuff. I am happy with the 50 bucks OBC and a sketch :thumbsup2 just something to show that they appreciate all the work we are putting forth not just for us but for them also.

I am soooo excited I cant wait. I just hope it turns out the way I want and no one walks away disappointed. If anything we will all be together no husbands or kids and good friends and food.

Yes, I saw where you caught yourself. We have too many guests to give out CD copies pirate: but ,I have printed the song list for any of my guest who would like one. Again thanks for the 2 songs you suggested. I have re-burned my CD's to include them! Here's what they look like:

Can you pass along the recipe for the creamsicle punch???

Also, BJs - the sandwich ring is 27.00 or 28.00, the 3 foot sub is 25.00, not sure about the others - I just ordered the sub for New Years - so I am sure about that one! And it was really good!

I captured the logo from the House party site and changed the proportions for the CD's. I added the black text using a Disney font I have and put it all together using a CD label making program.

Here is the background artwork:

Thanks for the information. My mom's going to Costco this afternoon so I have her checking prices for me too.

I found a ton of recipe's for creamsicle punch but I was going to use the most basic:

1 qt. orange sherbet
1 qt. vanilla ice cream
48 oz pineapple juice
2 liters sprite/7-up.

Directions: place ice cream and sherbet in a punch bowl. Pour juice over both. Add soda and give it a stir.

I hope it tastes good. I have never made punch before for parties and figured I'd give it a go. I want to keep all of my food/drinks simple because my son has a wrestling match that day and I'm not sure when it will end. Our party starts at 6PM. I did see a lot of recipes with similar ingredients for an alcoholic creamsicle punch. Different recipe's called for vodka, Bailey's Irish Cream and champagne. I guess if it doesn't taste too great the original way, we can add some sort of alcohol after it's poured in a cup. I didn't want to pre -add alcohol and have to stand by it all night as not to worry about kids getting cups of it. I also didn't want to make any red fruit juice based punch because we have brand new tan leather sofas. I also can't stand anything with gingerale in it because it reminds me of being sick as a kid. My mom always made me drink it when I was ill.

Disneyspirit (or anyone else!)
As someone who has owned an iPod for three years and never taken it out of the box, is on dialup, and got an iPhone for Christmas and still trying to figure THAT gift out (i.e. why I got it and how to use it!) can you explain this CD burning process to me? I had to download iTunes to sync the phone (14 hours and 40 minutes on dialup!!) so I have that--do you just buy these songs and then burn them onto a CD? I'm pretty sure alot of those songs, and the horn sound, aren't on iTunes--where do you get those? And do you have to have a label program to do that kind of artwork for them? I would love to do these, but I'm wondering at .99 cents a pop at iTunes about cost and also about the time factor in figuring all that out if you aren't already tech savvy. Any 'splaining you could do for me would be great.
Thanks so much

Thanks for the artwork - I will get to work on that tomorrow - I have to go to Staples and get my supplies - then I have to sit here and work on the songs! :confused3 LOL That'll be my son's project this weekend!!!

Thanks again!

Hanover..

Thanks for the recipe!! I think adding some sort of booze might work! LOL But, of course, the kids might want it, so, I'll have to work on something there!

Also, when are you cruising in August of 08? We are going 8/24-8/28.
