We were selected as well! Does anyone know if all the parties start at the same time or can we select the time? An idea I have is setting up our family room as a "kids club" for the children that will be attending and have activities for them that mirror the activities on the Magic. (hopefully I can gather a few high school babysitters to act as counselor's). My invites will be going via postal mail - does anyone know some really great Disney clip art websites?

I haven't clicked on the link yet, but the Houseparty site had a place to enter guests names and then print invitations.

I love the idea of the kids' club! I think I'll be calling my niece and asking her to gather a couple of friends to come babysit!

I thought about having the kids make flubber or dress up as pirates.

We changed the time from noon to 6PM because of our son's wrestling meet that day. I was even thinking of listing it as an open house for a couple of hours so people could come and go as they pleased. We invited several family members and friends--about 30 people in total. Some are just interested in learning about DCL, some are borderline about booking a cruise and and some have booked and not yet gone. We want to really show the Disney difference in cruising and why they are worth every penny.

My DH disc jockeys on the side and wants to set up his lights to give it more of a Sail Away/Pirate Night ambiance. We have at least 25 pirate bandanas left over from past cruises we can give out too. I'll probably buy some Oriental Trading company pirate stuff (stickers, tattoos, bubbles, pencils, necklaces, etc) for kid's favors.

We have a Castaway Cay life preserver/ safety ring we bought in Treasure Ketch a couple of years ago, a "Donning a Life Vest" with Mickey framed, a Mediterranean DCL map and pins framed, and the stateroom clock we also bought to put out during the party. DS6 can't wait to put up his Golden Mickey on the fireplace mantel.

It would be great if DCL sent out some kind of inexpensive lanyard/pin set and fake Key to the World cards for guests to use/trade pins. They could be more of a decorative type of thing with even buttons to keep the costs down.
I know they cut back on giving pins to Castaway Club members with the new lanyards when embarking.

I also think it would be great if they sent out a trivia/getting to know you type of little brochure like they do to have people mingle on board at the Castaway Club reception.

Okay, I did find the info I needed, but in my congratulations email, it said that you could change the date of your party by a day. I didn't see that option when I went into my account on houseparty.com. Anyone else know how to do this? The date is automatically set for Jan. 26, but I need to change it to Jan. 27. TIA for any info on how to change this.

There is a tab for "Party Details". You should be able to change it there.

We're hosting too...plan on running our pictures from previous cruises on the big screen tv, playing Disney music, and having some sailing flags around. Our office off the kitchen is already a Disney shrine, so there's plenty to look at. We'll probably have ours the day before as it works better with our schedules now and set it up as an open house.

We're excited!

I have a hosting question -- my co-worker and friend also applied to host and was not picked. She is more than willing to help with my party, and I would love to have her as a co-hostess. I edited the invitation to say that she is co-hostessing.

Is there any host benefit that she may miss out on by not being an "official" host? I want to make sure that it is worth her trouble to do this.

As far as I can tell from the Houseparty website -- hosts AND guests who register for the party are eligible for any special offers/contests that the sponsor (DCL) provides.

We were picked!!! I'm so excited! This will be our first *BIG* thing in our new home -- we move in a few weeks from now!! We will be moving in right before the party! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I figure alot of the people will come just so they can see the new house! :lmao:

Wow, great ideas! I can't wait to see how each party unfolds. Now I have to start working on that scrapbook!

I am in too!!!!! If anyone in the Baltimore/Harford area of Maryland wants to join me, send me a PM! This will be so much fun!

I was able to get it changed, but I had to call in so they could unlock the dates. I'm going to have mine on Sunday, Jan. 27th. My DD has a volleyball tournament on the 26th, so I'm so excited that they are letting me do mine on the day after!!!:cool1:

I'm glad to hear that others are thinking of the "open house" idea. That seemed best to me. It seems that families have so much going on on weekends that giving them some flexibility might increase attendance.

We got picked too!! I am taking a three day with my bf from college on 1-17 so I will have to keep my eyes open on ship for neat ideas. I hope my dh can do a slide show of our cruises on our big t.v. I am too tech-challenged!
Anybody have any great cruise recipes to share?

party: We're havin a party!!! Yep...we got chosen, too!

If anyone is from NW Indiana area or Chicagoland and would like to join our party, send me a PM w/ your email address and I'll send ya an invite. :)

OMG! Someone from HOBART!! :cool1: I'm a Brickie, class of '68 (therefore, an OLD Brickie). I haven't been back in a few years, but barely recognized my old neighborhood as all the trees (which were scrawny stubbs when our subdivision was built) now grow OVER the street.

Have a wonderful time with your DCL party.

We didn't get it :sad1: I checked the map, and there are several in my area. If any Orlando or Central FL diser's need guests, we'd love to come. LOL:rotfl:

We got a no also think it might be cause my wife is a cast member. Maybe someone in the Orlando area will invite us to one.

Tom and Diana

Same here. I am available :goodvibes I noticed a few in Kissimmee and one in Apopka which is next next to me. How do you get invited??

Tom, it would be nice if we could get to the same one!

I emailed Houseparty and got an answer to my question if anyone is interested:

Houseparty said:
I am sorry to hear your friend was not selected as a host for the event. To answer your question, the party will still have your name under the title of host.

However, in the guest list, you could write "co-host" next to your friends name, that is certainly fine. Officially, you will be the sole host for the event (in terms of our records and shipping information and all that), but you can
certainly take the liberty to include your friend as a co-host at any part of
the party process. If you want to indicate you friend is co-hosting on
invitations you are certainly welcome to do so.

:yay:

we got picked buy now im in shock!!
what do we do?
anyone in ne ohio want to go to a dcl party?:rotfl2:
