I booked a placeholder cruise recently whilst onboard for myself and DH. Can I now add another adult guest to that placeholder when I decided on what itinerary to book? Will I still get my discount and other benefits?

I believe you may need to actually book a specific cruise and then try to add the other adult. The other adult would then be charged the prevailing rate for the cruise.

So is it better for me to book 2 adults and a teenager and then cancel an adult later?

Sorry to piggy back on this questions but my friends booked a placeholder then set a date for Dec 2017 (they sailed Dec 2016.) They want to change the date to Dec 2018 (still within the 24 month window) but their TA says they will lose the SBC if they change the date...

Any thoughts or advice on this??

The on board rep last week said we could add another person to our reservation at the prevailing rate less 10%.

I think the placeholders have become a little easier to work with. I booked one week before last on our Wonder cruise. I was not asked how many guests or ages of guests. It was just a flat $250.

You can book 3 in the room, usually the 3rd person is a lesser cost, depending on the age of that person. BUT, if you only have 2 people, both are charged the same, regardless of age.

When you book the placeholder, do you have to say how many will be in the room to get the perks? I assumed just holding the room holds the perks for whomever you are travelling with.

I believe you can do a placeholder with only one name on it. When you move it to a specific cruise, you have to list all names that will be on the reservation, for everyone to get the discount on that rate. Adding another person at a later date means that person pays the prevailing rate at the time they are added.

Thanks that helps clear it up.
