Has anybody heard any news or rummors about a 2005 DVC member cruise? If no, is there a way to get notified by email if one is announced?

Thanks as always,

Scott, Peg and tyler

:teeth: The S.S. Member Cruise 2005 announcement was posted on the DVC web site this evening! Member Services won't take calls for booking requests until October 23 according to the announcement. Mark your calendar and set your Saturday morning alarm clock for 9AM EDT! I wonder who will be the first in line - or the first call to get through?

Disney Vacation Club Members are taking over the ship again! It's all part of "The Happiest Celebration on Earth," our year-long salute to the 50th anniversary of Disneyland® Park, with events that span the globe. We're thrilled to announce that our magical community will have their very own celebration aboard the Disney Wonder®! Scheduled over Labor Day Weekend 2005 (September 4-8), we've designed an exclusive itinerary with scheduled visits to Key West, Florida and Castaway Cay, plus magical surprises created especially for Members.

To book passage on the S.S. Member Cruise 2005, call Member Services beginning Saturday, October 23, 2004. We'll have special weekend booking hours from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm EDT on that Saturday (for S.S. Member Cruise 2005 reservations only). View the S.S. Member Cruise 2005 Reservation Points chart.

WooHoo!! We've been tossing around the idea of doing the western itinerary next year but an all-members cruise (combined with a stay at WDW to get some more use out of those APs) is the hands-down winner. If you see someone walking around OKW or a park the morning of Oct 23 on a cell phone with her DVC card in hand, it'll be me!! Thanks for posting!!

Is it just me, or is both the cash price and the point price a little steep for a four night cruise? I only paid $1800.00 per person for a 14-night west coast /alaska cruise in a concierge level balcony room on Celebrity this year......

Anybody remember how these points compare to the Member cruise in 2003?

Mark? Mary? Will you be there?!? (Need I ask?!?) :)

Oh I WANT to go.

Two problems, one it's football time and my team always starts that weekend!
Two, Sat 10/23 I will be at the local Girl Scout Camp with 12 Brownies! Limits my call time! Do you think it will fill up the first day?

I would LOVE to go, but it will be the kid' first week back in school, DH does not like that at all.

Otherwise, we can drive from HH and take our first cruise. Do not like the $75 cancellation/change fee though, even with cash reservation?!!!

Have to re-work our vacation plan if I want to take this, very tempting.................

Does anyone happen to know if when booking with points adding (or dropping) a 3rd member of the group would count as a change resulting in a $75 charge??

As much as I would love to do this but as I will be getting off the Magic after a 14 day cruise, I don't think it would be a good idea!LOL

Have Fun Everybody!

No you don't need to ask. We'll have both phones going that Saturday for sure.

If last time is any indicator, I can guarantee it will more than likely fill up the first day.

Now, for anyone who may have forgotten or doesn't know, the following was the first S.S. Member Cruise!

Hi Beth. We used 232 points for a cat 8 in 03. That same cat 8 on this cruise is 278.

We're looking at a cat 7 which will cost 300 points. A regular 4 day same time frame is 288. So 6 more points per person which if I remember correctly is the same spread as back in '03.

It was said then that the extra points were a rip-off but we didn't think so at all for what we got. A great vacation with a lot of great friends. We're in - hope to see many of fellow Member Cruisers joining us.

Just when you think you have your plans set - DVC throws a party!

:D

Unfortunately, with CarolAnnC's new job, holidays are out. Bummer!! But, I guess we'll have to sit this one out.

When I first saw this post, I thought to myself, "Well that's nice, to bad I have all my vacations planned next year and won't be able to go. Then I saw the dates. The four days right before our planned WDW vacation. Wow, now it sounds like the perfect add on.

Question -- Not familiar with how booking a cruise with DVC points works.

We have two people. Can we book 1 with points and 1 with cash? Don't have enough spare points for both of us and would rather not pay cash for both of us. But 1 cash 1 points works out perfect.

Yes you can book one with points and one with cash. I think the hitch is when you do that you have to pay the cash up front - not over time like with a regular cash reservation with the cruise. In fact I think if you book the room entirely on cash you have to pay up front for this one. Not sure as we use points in '03.

This is just what I've been waiting for...kind of.

We missed the previous member gatherings because we already had points reserved and airline tickets purchased. Kudos to DVC for notifying members about the next event and give them much more advance notice than previous events.

We had hoped for a cruise and really wanted to see Key West, so this is perfect...almost.

Anyone else concerned about sailing in September? Last month was a nightmare for WDW and DVC with all the hurricanes. And from what I've gathered from the news, they're forecasting heavy hurricane seasons for the next several years.

I can understand DVC's desire to get people to cruise in September. My only concern is, will they be as generous as reimbursing points for this cruise as they were for people who had to cancel trips to WDW and VB? DH and I don't have to worry about trying to schedule vacations around school vacations, and had said we would never plan a trip to Florida anytime from June thorugh the end of September. Now...we will certainly have to give it some thought. Anyone else concerned about the potential for cancellation due to hurricanes? I'm not trying to put a damper on things, maybe I just need some reassurance. This is what I've been waiting for -- just not the timing I was hoping for.

Hang on a minute while John decides if he wants to go..........

I HATE the DVC member website! I just called technical 3 weeks ago and finally was able to get into the site. Now I cannot get into the site again! ARRRRR!

If anyone could PM me with the points charts I would be very interested! We are doing the 14 day repo. cruise and thought about hanging out for a couple of days! Who knows! The big problem is DD will be starting 3rd grade (however she would only miss 3 days of school).:teeth:

More info. please!! I cannot contact MS until Thursday morning! HELP!
