Hi, Joanie

The thread for the Oct 23 cruise is 10/23/2010 Seven Days of Magic Sailing to the Saints Looking for Serenity Now!" look under the Cruise Meet section - same place as this thread.

You'll love the Panama Cruise - we did it in 2008 and had a wonderful time.

We live in Victoria, BC - an 1.5 hour ferry ride from Vancouver.

Come on, Everett. You just want to go and ride the Matterhorn again. :lmao: That was one fun night.
Matterhorn Again! Your right. Have to ride it in the day time when I can see what it is all about. Also want to see the World Of Color but D23 will be the pirority while we are there. Will be at WDW 16 to 24 October (MNSSHPpirate:) and again December 1 to 8 (WDW Today Podcast Reuion and MVMCP:santa:) and Disney Dream Cruise in February (with 2 of our Grandchildren and DD:tinker:) before we get to the West Coast for DisneyLand and the Alaska Cruise.

I too am retireing before the Alaska Crusie (191 days but who's counting and there is 4 weeks vacation in there) and am also looking forward to it but as you say it is a little scary. DW and DD are looking for things for me to do to keep he out of the house when I retire.

What night are you doing MNSSHP? Ken and I fly in on Thursday (21st) until Saturday morning. Leaving on the Magic on the 23rd. Staying at Port Orleans - Riverside for two nights. Thinking of doing Typhoon Lagoon and MNSSHP on the Friday. Maybe we can arrange a meet up at some point. Is Jennifer going too?

Starting at the end, Just Jeanette and I are going this time around. Are Tickets for MNSSHP are for the 17th. On the 21st we are at EPCOT Future World in the morning and Hollywood Studios in the evening for Fantasmic. On the 22nd we are at Hollywood Studios in the morning and Animal Kingdom in the evening so I can go on Everest after dark. They are open to 8 pm that night. To bad you are leaving on the 23 as we would be up you way that night for YeHaa Bob at the Roost at Port Orleans Riverside. He should be there the two night you are there also. Afternoons we nap. One of the things we are trying to do this time around at all the Parks is catch all the Street Performers. I found a website that lists the times they appear.

We are finally at the 1 year mark!!!! :cool1: Only 365 days left to go.

Yeah!!!!

I tried paying the cruise off today with points!!! Didn;t work. I guess DVC is cutting down on how may rooms they are allowing to be paid by points. I am alittle PO'd righ now with DVC. I feel like we have been mislead by DVC since we bought specifically to cruise every other year on points!!

I can not believe thay have done this. We added more points in April just for cruising. They sold us the points under the marketing that they can be used for cruising and now we can not use them. I hope they get enough negative feed back that they change their policy. We may sell some of our points since we now have to pay cash. We made a huge investment in DVC and now are wondering if we made the right choice.

Is it easy to rent out points?

Now I wish I was on the member cruise so I could talk to Jim Lewis!!

I'm with you guys! I've always had some reservations (no pun intended!) about DVC anyway but Dan is a strong supporter. Anyway, as I see it we hae 3 options. Suck it up and pay (but that doesn't send the right message to DVC), cancel & do something else, or hopr that they get enough complaints so that at least folks who are already booked in one way or another (cash) can use their points. We'll definitely have lots to discuss in October.

We've never rented out points and even if it's easy we shouldn't have to do that. We're being forced to be business people when all we want to do is take a Disney vacation!

Don't have DVC - interested but haven't bought yet mainly due to living in Canada and being so far away from the Mouse.

Anyways, if I've been reading the info right the problem is not with DVC, but with DCL. DCL is now limiting the number of cabins per cruise that can be booked with DVC points and the number of alotted cabins have been assigned/booked until the Fall of 2011. Seems to be the same with their promos (eg. Kids sail free) once they reach a certain number for a sailing the promo is no longer available for that particular cruise even if there are still cabins available. Not sure if the same is applicable when you are booking at the resorts. Can you book ordinary rooms with the DVC or just the DVC units? So, if just the units - once booked - you have to find something else or go a different date.

DVC members can book their home resort 11 months out and any other resort at 7 months out. So far we have not had a problem with getting into our home resort on the 11 month out date. The 7 months out are harder to get even being there on the 7 month out booking day. You can be put on waiting list for what you want for the 7 months out and they allow up to two choices. We did get lucky in April and got the Boardwalk from a waiting list for EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival. If your main interest is EPCOT this is the place to be. We really enjoyed our stay here.

As for non DVC Resorts yes we can use our points there but they require more point and I think there is a $95 booking fee because it is not a part of DVC.

i am so sorry to hear people are having a problem wth booking on points...i have booked 13 cruises on points wth dcl..and multiple cabins wth each cruise.all on points..never had a problem....i booked panama in jan...and alaska in aug 2011...this is the first time i heard there may be a problem....and you are right they do use the cruise, in the presentation to sell you the points...i love having dvc there are so many places to go..and every place i have booked, besides the cruise or disney hotels have been the best rooms..i know if i book thrgh disney i dont have to worry the hotel wl be shabby once you get there.. i do hope things dont change and there will be less and less cabins avail. for dvc members..that would be a real shame:sad2:

I just talked to our club rep about 30 min ago DVC just found out about it Friday night and they are frantic. Jenne told the have stopped all Dvc members from using points for a cruise until 2012. WE just got under the wire last month when we made our final payment for the up coming Western we went half points and rest cash. As of Friday no .
DVC is working on the problem and hopes to streighten it out with DCL.
AS Jenne said its going to kill our sale presinations.

i have every confidence thy wll fix this...there are too many dvc people on the cruises to cut all of us out..dvc wont allow that...
i am glad you got in before this happend..
