Just checking in. I has been a while. I see there are new folks, WELCOME.

It has been a rough winter here. We had more snow that they did up north and we are looking forward to spring. As I am certain you all are.

We are currently planning for a college graduation, our next cruise which is a repo from Spain in September and then a wedding in March 2011. I do not want to lose site of this cruise with all that going on.

My tentative plans are to fly in Seattle, take the train to Vancouver, stay there a couple of days (am open to suggestions on what to see and do) and take a bus back to Seattle to fly home. That way my grandchildren get every mode of transportation on this trip. If anyone has any ideas on what else to do, please share. I am open to suggestions and new ideas.

I would of loved to go booked the PC. But, since the kids are in school and ERik is has limited vacation it was not possible.

I don't think that they would like it if I went by myself.

I haven't booked a hotel yet either. We are trying to figure out our plans still.

If anyone finds a good deal, please post it.

Thinking of organizing group air from Detroit, other cities can do it too. Checked on it with United, and I am sure the other airlines do this too.

International groups have a minimum 10 people, and $50 deposit due at booking. All parties must be on the same itinerary. The deposit is refundable up to 60 days out. The fare will be a few percent off the lowest fare that all 10 people can go in at time of booking. So if there is a sale on, you get a few percent off the sale. Final payment is due 30 days before travel.

We're flying from their too! They'll be 5 of us, we are still in limbo though on whether to fly to Seattle, then rails to BC or just a straight shot into BC...keep us in mind...

Blue Marlin is my DH.

Where do you live in MI? We live in Lincoln Park.

We are still unsure about flying into Seattle or Vancouver.

Did you get my PM with my email? Marina would love to hear from your DD.

We're in Saline! Small world! You guys aren't far from us.
Laurel's working on an email--draft stage right now ;) She should be sending one soon :)

I've got a quick question for everyone...do you guys get really dressed up for -- "Formal or Semiformal" night that everyone is talking about? Does this just me dressy...slacks and nice top/Dockers & button down--or do they mean FORMAL...

Formal is a funny word on a Disney ship.

You'll see people in everything from a shirt and slacks to tuxedos. Longer cruises tend to be a little more dressy. I'll probably bring a shirt and tie, but I can guarantee you that you won't catch me in a tux.

The boys in my family will be in dress pants, shirt and tie. No tuxes in our group either.

On our last 7 night,

Formal- Marina and I wore fancy dresses
Erik wore a suit
Matt wore dress pants and a button down shirt- He has worn a suit, too.

Semi formal-

Marina and I dresses
Guys- dress pants, button down shirts

casual-
dresses
dress pants and polos

I will be packing lighter since we will be flying.
I will probably wear a nice pair of slacks and bring a few short sleeves sweater to change out. Plus, a few dresses.

Marina wants me to buy her a fancy dress or two.

We were just our your way last weekend. My nephew had his birthday party at Ann Arbor Hands on museum.

Erik went to college at U of M.

My cousin and his wife are 4th and 5th grade teachers in Milan. Her parents live in Saline.

Erik wore a suit

Don't let Christi's reply fool you. If I had my druthers everyone would be black tie, or whatever serves for that in your culture. Full formal Scots is pretty impressive. The cruise would have the right to maroon anyone not formal enough with a pint of rum and one bullet in the gun.

One of the best parts of being on a cruise is the ability for everyone to be James Bond or Thomas Crown for a night, and to be dating the hottest woman on the ship in her slinky, slightly too short, but not quite indecent dress.

(Insert Wayne's World wavy lines and dole-dedo sound effect for end of dream sequence)

For practicality sake on this Alaskan cruise, with the airlines now charging for bags and all of my clothes being larger and taking more volume than the rest of the family's combined... Heck two pairs of shoes are half a suitcase for gunboats like mine... I will be seen in shirts and ties every night. I may even double up on hopefully unstained shirts. No jacket, but perhaps I will be creative and bring a vest to kick it up a notch.

I really miss the ability to drive and fill the trunk with outfits for every contingency.

Erik went to college at U of M.

She should have said, 9x CCHA Hockey Champion and soon to be Frozen Four Champion University of Michigan. :woohoo: (Where is that Hail to the Victors Smile in the list...) We took out #2, then #1, then #3 on the way to the top.

Somebody said there is a basketball tournament on T.V. but I only saw hockey this weekend.

The boys in my family will be in dress pants, shirt and tie. No tuxes in our group either.

No tux or gown here either, it will be weird for us to fly to a cruise, we always drive. But no snorkle gear this trip so should save some room. Warm clothes take up much more room than beach clothes so should be interesting.

I just repriced our cruise. It went up $225 for us. I was hoping it would go down.

It has been a pretty exciting week here.

Marina came home on Wed. with a fever and strep.
She gave it to Matt and Erik.

We adopted a second dog on Friday. He is doing great.

Matt had to go to the hospital for possible appendicitis. The doctors could not rule it out completely since Matt is on antibiotics and would be blocking the infection. What theyy told us is that the strp infection had gone into his stomach/abdomen.:confused3. We have to watch him the next few days to make sure it is not getting worse.

Good News- Matt was nominated by his drama teacher and received a scholarship to attend a fine arts camp this summer. He will be taking 3 classes- String ensemble (he plays the viola), masters drama, and visual arts.

Oh my stsomewhere! I hope the rest of this week is smooth "sailing" Tell everyone to feel better! And yeah :yay:for your DS, what an awesome accomplishment!!!

We've just had 1 ear infection(mine, LOL) and lots of DISBoard reading this week--I've currently been looking at breakfast info for the cruise--I feel like I'm so behind with info, and we have 1yr and 4 months and ...29 days, LOL.

Talk to everyone soon,
-Robyn

I had to take Matt back to the hospital this afternoon.
He was in so much pain. They gave him some morphine. He is staying overnight
for observation. Possible surgery to remove appendix.

Erik is there with him now.
