"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

Happy Monday all!!

Hard to believe it's the last week of June!!!

Not much going on here. Just hanging out in the pool with the kiddies!!! I know why we have kids in our 20's and not 50's!!! They wear me out!!!

Where is every one? What are every one's plan's in Vancouver? What is not to be missed?

Hello everybody!

My name is Sarah and I'm cruising with my mom and sister in one cabin with my Grammy and brother in another. We should be a wild excited bunch!

We are kind of a last minute addition on this cruise as we were originally scheduled for early June but had to change for school.

I can't wait to meet you all on the ship and enjoy some of Alaska's great scenery.

we are planning on renting bikes in Vancouver and riding in and around Stanley Park. Going to spend a portion of the day at the Vancouver Aquarium. When we arrive in Vancouver we will have just spent 3 days kayaking in the San Juan's so will want to be kind of relaxed rather than running around all over the place. Want to get out and see nature and since Stanley Park is right there that will be the place for us to hang out. Counting the days until we leave it's down to 51.

Was planning on seeing Stanley Park and the Granville Market before the cruise and do the Capilano suspension bridge and Grouse Mountain after. Went on Trip advisor and asked if my plans would work and got lots of advice on how to structure. Haven't reviewed it all yet, but the people there are very helpful

In Vancouver we'll be hitting Stanley Park and Granville Island for sure. Other than that it'll be whatever the Jacques want to see since I lived in Vancouver for a while so they're the tourists :)

Bike riding sounds like fun!!

I think we're also going to do the bike thing in Stanley Park!!! I can't wait to leave! 46 more days!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear that Kim. Feel better soon! I'm virtually crippled. I can't stand for more than 5 minutes and bending hurts incredibly. I went to the chiropracter because my back and sciatic nerve were both bothering me and now I hurt even more. Some week off I'm having. I went from thinking the kids would be home every day to them going to the local sports arena all afternoon yesterday, a party today and tomorrow they want to go back to the sports arena. I should be getting lots done around here, but I can't bend down. At least I went through all of my DD's clothes. Next on to DS's closet.

Feel better soon! I've dealt with chronic back pain and leg numbness for years, it's not any fun...hang in there only 46 days till you are Alaska bound :thumbsup2

Where is every one? What are every one's plan's in Vancouver? What is not to be missed?

We are doing a little geocaching and doing a little food walk, we love Asian food and we have read that it's amazing there...still researching for other activities we will have 2 days to take it ALL in

Hard telling. Could be in the 60's, could be in the 80's. Chances are it'll be very pleasant, but evenings get cool. August is our one good month.....

It's been a long late start to spring but August (and September) are your best bets for a lovely day. Agreed about the cool (60's) evenings unless it's a freak heat wave lol.

Finally got some stuff to start making my FE gifts. I better get moving since we now have less than 8 weeks to go.

Ya, we're pretty much planning to follow Sarah around. lol

So I was second-guessing our expensive whale watching excursion, and then I read some positive reviews....and thanks to extensive Nemo viewing and an episode of Little Einstein's featuring orcas, Iz is ALL ABOUT WHALES now. Every time one comes on the TV she squeals "whaaaaaale!" (which sounds more like "wayyy-wullll")

Hearing her little delighted voice at the sight of a real one will be totally worth the money. :goodvibes

My family and I really wanted to do the capallino suspension bridge but in Frommers it warns that it is an overpriced tourist trap......any suggestions?

I read the same thing in Frommers. I think they recommend the other suspension bridge (don't remember the name right now), however, others say it's an experience not to be missed. We're doing a tour after the cruise that included that one. I didn't see any tours that included the other one.

Updates....

I was just able to book an exclusive private whale watching tour with Harv and Marv :dance3:.

Hopefully once I get the check in the mail, I will be able to quit rethinking the Juneau excursions.

FE gifts are in progress....Still lots to do.

Planning to do the aquarium in Vancouver.

Opened my Vancouver guide from Sarah and Ian last night while winding down....

I know we're doing Stanley Park and Granville Island. After reading about the aquarium, I'm also thinking aquarium. Of course, we live 30 minutes from Sea World so I'm not sure how impressive it will be.....lol.....but it sounds pretty neat. If it has Nemo, Iz is in.

Was also thinking about the Classical Chinese Garden in Chinatown. It looked really neat! Plus it's near the Sam Kee building which is the world's narrowest building. popcorn::

I think we are also going to try to make Sunday mass at the Christ Church Cathedral.

I have more reading to do tonight! Plan, plan plan....

I have read some GREAT things. Haven't found a negative review yet. I was quite surprised that when I called today, they still had an opening for us. I assumed for this late date they would be all booked up, but thought I would give it a try anyway. Glad I did. They booked the 6 of us on an exclusive private whale watching tour on their 12-passenger boat since all the 6-passenger boats have already been reserved.
