"DCL Klondike Kruisers" - August 23, 2011 PART 2

I know we're doing Stanley Park and Granville Island. After reading about the aquarium, I'm also thinking aquarium. Of course, we live 30 minutes from Sea World so I'm not sure how impressive it will be.....lol.....but it sounds pretty neat. If it has Nemo, Iz is in.

The Vancouver Aquarium is very different from Sea World. Sea World focuses on the larger marine animals while Vancouver Aquarium focuses on the smaller ones. There are wonderful exhibits, no rides whatsoever. There is an Amazon rainforest walk through complete with sloughs, caymen gators, birds, etc. There is tropical fish, sharks, kelp forest and a whole section deciated to fish that are found on the Pacific Coast. There is a wonderful Beluga exhibit that is great. You can view both up above and below ground. If there is only adults in your party there is an informative behind the scenes tour. Not sure what age children are allowed to participate. Also, sea otters and you might be able to see some of the marine rescue seal pups. They nurse them back to health and then release them back into the wild.

There is a small snack bar and a beautiful gift shop.

We were just up in Vancouver; those who Facebook, I put some pics up tonight. I'll try to get some up on here in the next few days. We stayed at the Pan Pacific and got to see the Wonder set sail last night!!!

Opened my Vancouver guide from Sarah and Ian last night while winding down....

I used to go to the aquarium every summer so I'm certainly down for going back. At this point though it's a vague memory to me so no input in terms of whether you/izzy would like it. :)

Hi guys!!! I am getting so excited. I would love to do the bike ride in Stanley park.

We could just follow the sunburned Canadian around Vancouver. :lmao:

Thanks so much Robyn, for the link to this trip report! I found it very fun to read and super helpful for me since I'm right in the middle of the planning stage!

I'm starting to get really excited for this cruise! The last Disney Cruise I was on was a Mexican Riviera one way back in 2008! It seems like ages!

We are doing the Aquarium (I keep checking Groupon and LIving Social for coupons) in Van Couver as well. I had not thought about the bike riding. Might be a good idea with the girls. They are 11. I had thought about the suspension bridge, but think I will pass on that now.

Anyone else thinking about the hop on hop off trolley around Vancouver?

We are staying at the Ramada Downtoen and am still trying to figure out how to get to the hotel from Amtrak. There are 18 of us. Do you think it best we all hail individual cabs (per family)?

Keep us posted if you find any coupons for the aquarium. I also get emails from groupon and living social, but haven't found anything yet.

Highly doubt you will get groupon coupons for the Aquarium. Slim chance there might be one in the Entertainment Book. But, if I remember correctly they are not valid during the summer months. One the premier attractions for Vancouver - not much need to discount especially during the summer.

I was told there is one in the Entertainment book, and that by doing the monthly online subscription you could get one for the aquarium and the HOHO trolley. We are planning on both but haven't been able to confirm this deal works.

DD and I will already have trouble making this a "short visit" to convince DH anbd DS, you are not making it any easier! LOL

Just to let you know that if you buy your ticket on line for the HOHO trolley, you get 2 days for the price of one. That's what we did.

Not exactly sure what you are meaning. But, the Aquarium is a good half day visit. We usually go for about 3+ hours.

Also, someone else mentioned about clown fish. There is usually a full tank of Nemo.
