I haven't been on the cruise boards for a while, since we don't have one planned :(. Has there been any rumors about Disney cruising to Hawaii? My DM said she read something in a magazine about it. I usually keep up on 'all things Disney' so if it's true I'm surprised I haven't heard anything about it.

I read that Disney was offering vacation packages to Hawaii, but not on their cruiseline. I think they might have packages with a few Disney touches. I heard mention of maybe a character meet and greet or luau or something. I would LOVE it if Disney did a cruise to Hawaii! I would even be interested in any of their travel packages. :earsgirl:

The Magic will be on the west coast for the summer, but will be back on the east coast by September. The 2006 cruise season schedule became available on September 29, 2004 and there were only plans to cruise on the east coast.

If Disney builds a new ship then there is a chance of more west coast cruises, but in reality the earliest it could happen is 2007. Since the current ships are Bahamian registered the ships would have to sail from Mexico or British Columbia which means three days just to get to Hawaii.

The ships non-US registration does not require them to sail out of a specific port, they just have to visit a foreign port. Many Hawaiian cruises stop at Fanning Island, which is one days sailing time each way from Hawaii to satisfy this requirement.

However, sailing from Hawaii to Vancouver was a lot of fun according to my mom. She did a 10 day repositioning cruise on NCL, it started with the traditional 7 days around Hawaii, then 3 days over to Vancouver. It was in March of last year, and the seas were rough, but she loved it.

If you look at many cruise line itineraries you will see that they normally sail from or sail to either Esenada, Mexico or Vancouver, British Columbia when sailing to Hawaii because of the foreign port requirement.

I wasn't saying that it had to be a specific port, just what the itinerary normally includes.

OMG! I would so love to take DCL to Hawaii. My hubby and I were supposed to go to Hawaii in March on Celebrity but they canceled the cruise at the last minute (I am still bitter about that one!) So now we are going to try again in 07 with all 4 kids. Having it be a Disney cruise would be great for all of us!!!

What you are refering to is a program called Adventures by Disney it will be taking guests to Yellowstone or Hawaii. They are currently doing test runs with it.

Don't hold your breath about DCL cruises to Hawaii ... one, it wouldn't work logistically with land-sea packages with DLR ... two, we aren't looking at having a West Coast ship for 5-7 years (that will be ship #4, the 3rd ship is already slated for joining the Magic & Wonder in FL).
