DCL Has Their Protocol Out!!!

I still maintain that there is plenty of money to encourage DCL to bring the Wonder over empty. Of the 11 Cruises that are still scheduled for the West Coast, 3 are currently sold out. That includes the 7 day Baja and the EBPC. Just the EBPC is a huge amount of money.

From a post of mine on another thread: "Before the fall EBPC sold out, the cheapest cabin I saw was a guaranteed inside stateroom (for only 2 passengers) and it was around $5k... there are 875 cabins on the Wonder, so figuring at the very-very least $5k per cabin would end up being a minimum $4.375 million in gross revenue for just that one sailing. If I were Disney I'd gladly eat the $300k to sail through the canal empty Westbound in order to get all the remaining Baja sailing's revenue, plus a minimum $4.4 million for that EBPC trip."

For my scheduled Baja sailing, I've already signed up for all the mixology classes and tastings (some of which are sold out now) and I'm bringing plenty of that sweet-sweet Bingo money. I need to make up for lost time. (#ShakeItUpBetty)
According to what somebody posted Disney is only running 50% capacity for the UK cruises. If they did the same here that would cut the min down to $2.2 million in your example. Subtract out the high cost of the canal, plus we don't really have much of an idea how much it costs to run one of those ships. I'm sure that if there is positive money to be made then Disney will do it.

My only assumption here is when DCL sails out of a US port other than FL, we might see a vaccine requirement for 12+. I think the FL law is the only thing preventing it on the restart but won't know for sure until they sail from a non-FL port.
Even if they choose to do that (which I doubt, as the presence of so many unvaccinated younger kids onboard means the Covid transmission risk would still be significant), I would expect onboard protocols to be the same as in U.K. & Florida. In short, not what most of the unhappy posters here would want.

We are booked on WBPC in March. These restrictions are fine with us......I do wish everyone 12 and up would be required to fully vax. Maybe, since it sails out of NOLA, they will require. I really don't plan to do any excursions -might walk around ports if their numbers are good. Will be happy sitting on veranda watching the sea and the locks.

Yeah I always wondered about this. From what i saw pre covid they don't sell that well here. I went on a Halloween high seas once out of San Diego and didn't seem like a lot of people. I would still
consider sailing but maybe they think it is a losing cause to come. I'm sure numbers will be ran.

Agree. It would still be masks required and same protocols onboard, but IMO closer in line with UK cruises than FL.

DW & I are vaccinated and have The Fantasy 8 night Southern Caribbean booked 10/16. We applied the 125% FCC from our cancelled Hawaii cruise last year. I was wondering when we would get some guidance from DCL (even though this update is for The Dream) and in all honesty this is no big deal for us. We’ll spend lots of time on our balcony, happily wear masks, deal with the limited/adjusted offerings without stressing and just enjoy being back.

I've been trying to follow along but I honestly can say I don't think I've read all 18 pages so I apologize if this was already answered.

Has anyone actually priced out what it would cost to get to the insurance the Disney is now requiring, either from DCL or 3rd party? And if from Disney, is it a different and separate insurance policy than the normal cruise insurance they sell?

I'm honestly just curious. No one in my party requires the insurance from a Covid perspective but we always sail with Disney's insurance anyway. Just curious how much it actually would cost for someone who is un vaccinated.

Many people assumed wrongly that the Magic UK policies and procedures would not apply to The Dream. These new policies and procedures are fleet wide and will apply to each ship as they return to cruising. This is the new DCL cruise experience for ALL ships.
As of right now, they aren't fleet wide, even though the Magic and the Dream are pretty close so far. But, the UK policies and procedures didn't all apply, because vaccines are required on the UK sailings. I still think anything is up for grabs on future announcements for the Fantasy and Wonder. Will it look mostly the same? probably. Will it be exactly the same? maybe not. Fantasy is 7 day cruises with (maybe) more port stops other than Castaway Cay and the Wonder is sailing out of CA. Probably the biggest thing to stay away from is "Disney would never do xxx" or "Disney isn't going to xxx"

Disney's insurance is the same as usual, and it costs the same as usual.

We are also on that cruise, and on 2 august sailings on the dream. I am going under the assumption that the October sailing will have much of the same protocols until disney tells us they don’t. My only hope is that we can actually port in Antigua, st marten and San Juan.

Does anyone know if Bippity Boppity will be open on the dream cruise? I messaged them but haven’t heard back yet.

the double dips, and low capacity are enticing
Mine aren’t until December and I still need to verify the b2b situation. If they don’t allow it we may just do one and WDW. The fantasy seems to be sold out. I booked MSC but I like DCLs protocols better. The 5 days to get a Covid test is so much easier than 72 hours.
It looks like you can buy your own insurance on DCL which is considerably cheaper even with Covid coverage.

The more I think about this the more I am leaning towards PIF in September and then seeing what happens before the 60 day cancellation trigger. If they proceed as currently proposed, we are out. I am already looking at RCCL out of our home port, Galveston, which seems much more in line with the experience we want, and they have ships with some pretty great features too.

I think it would be smart to run Vax only cruises where they are permitted so that they offer options for people with different preferences, but whatever, they clearly don’t care what I want. I don’t see DCL in the near future with its pre-vaccination era protocols. Good luck to them, but I think they are going to get hit with an outbreak.
