DCL Has Their Protocol Out!!!

I think there is going to be an avalanche of cancellations based on discussions in a couple of FB cruise groups I'm in
Yep! I am an admin for a September Cruise (we rescheduled, but I stayed on to help) lots of people not happy with the mask. Most are happy in general. I am just frustrated so many are trying to find ways around the mask, tests, and gift exchanges. I am like............."come on you all" The fish exchange cracks me up "they can't stop us"................yes DCL CAN! is my response. Many are under the impression Disney will drop a lot of rules after their first cruise.............oh boy!

Good question. I think everyone is still waiting to see if they'll take the $$ hit to deadhead back to 'Diego for the fall . . .

I still maintain that there is plenty of money to encourage DCL to bring the Wonder over empty. Of the 11 Cruises that are still scheduled for the West Coast, 3 are currently sold out. That includes the 7 day Baja and the EBPC. Just the EBPC is a huge amount of money.

From a post of mine on another thread: "Before the fall EBPC sold out, the cheapest cabin I saw was a guaranteed inside stateroom (for only 2 passengers) and it was around $5k... there are 875 cabins on the Wonder, so figuring at the very-very least $5k per cabin would end up being a minimum $4.375 million in gross revenue for just that one sailing. If I were Disney I'd gladly eat the $300k to sail through the canal empty Westbound in order to get all the remaining Baja sailing's revenue, plus a minimum $4.4 million for that EBPC trip."

For my scheduled Baja sailing, I've already signed up for all the mixology classes and tastings (some of which are sold out now) and I'm bringing plenty of that sweet-sweet Bingo money. I need to make up for lost time. (#ShakeItUpBetty)

Agree cancelations may be high, but they will probably make some $$$ on the cabin I just cancelled. Maybe 2022 Disney - considering the Carnival Mardi Gras for later this year.

Having a passport is better especially now, I don't believe you can fly back to the US without a passport or it is very difficult. If an outbreak happens on a cruise there is a chance (probably low though) you might be faced with flying back to the US as opposed to returning to PC via the ship.
If you don't have a passport, you have to go to the USA embassy in that country to assist your family. You can not get back into USA with out a passport.

I might be interested in the September one for the simple reason i dont have to fly cross country.
BUT waiting to hear what kind of protocols.

For a September cruise assume the same onboard protocols as for the Magic in U.K. and the Dream in Florida. Disney isn't going to offer a radically different experience in different states. I would expect vaccination rules to be the same as in Florida, for consistency's sake.

I just called and was told she honestly did not know and to check back. I appreciated the CM's honesty.
It is 2 months away and no one on this board knows either. It is all speculation. Until there is OFFICIAL
WORD on the Wonder not the dream I will wait.

She also used those words "fluid situation" again.

Many people assumed wrongly that the Magic UK policies and procedures would not apply to The Dream. These new policies and procedures are fleet wide and will apply to each ship as they return to cruising. This is the new DCL cruise experience for ALL ships.

If you're unsatisfied with the onboard protocols in U.K. & Florida, it's really wishful thinking to expect California to be significantly different in September. Disney isn't going to want to answer to "why here not there?", or have guests ditching their Florida cruises for California cruises, etc.

I wasn't one of them. You know what they say about assuming.

Holy guacamole!

I’m pretty tolerant of health measures and different experiences but I’ve been reading the protocols with this face:

I wouldn‘t do it. Not with those prices. I would either cancel or postpone.

it Really depends on your party. We booked today. We were already going to be there. Just 2 of us. Going to just chill, eat, and spend a couple of days on castaway. Maybe a movie. Been enough to see all the shows many times. I’m not crazy about everything and the mask inside doesn’t bother me as I don’t plan to be inside much. Now my daughter said no thanks. She and the grandkids are all vaxed (like us) but she doesn’t want to be on the ship with unvaxed adults. we Booked the extended aft cabin to get away and Cut our contact time down.

“Rainforest Room (available for one travel party at a time, up to 10 Guests, for 1 hour 45-minute sessions at a cost of $174 per session; reservations can be made on board the ship)”

“Use of the Fitness Center is complimentary for Guests 14 years of age and older. Guests between the ages of 14 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult or guardian to enter.”

So......I know normally the Rainforest Room is 18 and up, much to my daughter’s chagrin, but do we think that now that it is private and 14 and up is allowed in the Fitness Center with supervision that she could come in? We have two families together, this could actually end up not being so bad....except I’d have my kids with me:scared::rolleyes1

No one said anything about significantly different. Just wondering if it will be different at all. After all
if it was the same just make official announcement. There is nothing wrong with waiting for official
stance before you plop down money. We might still book or might not. I don't get my Visa charged on
"not sure". She did not tell me to assume it was the same.

My only assumption here is when DCL sails out of a US port other than FL, we might see a vaccine requirement for 12+. I think the FL law is the only thing preventing it on the restart but won't know for sure until they sail from a non-FL port.
