DCL Has Their Protocol Out!!!

The video explainer specifically says not required for cruises departing from Florida so presumably related to the FL law (and I guess leaves it open for them to have different guidance once cruises resume from other ports).
We are scheduled to sail from San Diego. It will be interesting to see what changes, if anything.

I really only expect to see a proof of vax requirement change. Everything else will be the same.

I think we will probably be cancelling then. I believe that my youngest will be eligible to be vaccinated before our Christmas cruise. We live close to Galveston and enjoy avoiding flying so just moving the cruise to a later sailing isn’t as easy.

I was hopeful that the protocols would be more reasonable, but to be honest, this is the sort of thing I should have expected all along. While this is mostly the result of the Florida law, I am not going to pay in full in anticipation that the Galveston rules will be any different.

Between the testing requirements and the insurance that’s quite a bit more costly for an already costly trip.
Not necessarily. Many people cost insurance anyway. We always sail with DCLs insurance policy.

All kids under 12 will need a $100 PCR test days before. The only real added cost world be an extra $65 for unvaccinated 12+at the pier. That isn't that much of a cost difference between being vaccinated and un- vaccinated.

Eek. I missed that one. Going to be very slow getting off at castaway... Twice!

maybe that’s why twice…..you have to wait for a push notice to get off. Plus they are asking people not to move chairs on castaway.

I thought I read 2 testings. 5 days prior and embarkment day. Guest pay for both 12 and up. So much to read and comprehend

My family is fully vaccinated but coming from Canada. That’s an $325 US plus the testing I need to do here. We have travel insurance but I’m not sure if it covers Covid illnesses as I heard some removed that. So not including insurance we would need to pay at minimum $1000 just for tests. Not including what I need on the way back.

is there a test after reading everything? Still on the virtual queues to get off at castaway. Wonder about those guest who don’t use smartphones.
Unfortunately I feel that smart phones are now a necessary part of cruising as almost everything is phone based. Least with the WiFi- acquisition of an older device that can run the app off WiFi should be cheap to acquire..

I saw they aren't going to offer a nursery. This doesn't impact me but I imagine it would for some people.

We have a cruise booked for October 8. We're still going to sail. There are some things that I wish were different (such as a vaccine requirement) but they're not enough to convince me to cancel.

yes, saw that, plus only once a day appt. at the kids clubs, except vibe & edge

Our trip, not until December and out of Galveston. Everything could change in any direction by then-I think things could get more restrictive, less restrictive or cancelled depending on what is going on in the world. But at least I have a baseline to make my decision. We are vaccinated, so that works. Kids are older, do not need kids clubs. Need to check into the insurance. Usually for our trips it is just the basic, but looks like we will need to upgrade and that adds to the expense of an expensive trip, with restrictions as they are now or to be determined. At least I have the luxury of sitting on it for a bit. Not sure how I feel...

Yay! The protocols look great!
  • Full vaccination exempts you from testing requirements.
  • No masks required on the outdoor decks or outdoors on Castaway Cay.
  • Muster drill has been modified & made easier.
  • Twice-daily housekeeping will continue.
  • In-stateroom dining will continue.
  • Private tables for every travel party.
  • Fewer guests onboard than usual.
I'm ready to sail!

I agree. My husband is 70 and knows how to use his iPhone as well as my teen grandkids. he was proud to learn to download the menus in wdw recently by scanning the square. 😂 (at first he kept taking a picture of it)

Everyone is required to wear masks on the tram at Castaway. I’m sorry, but that’s ridiculous.

and how exactly does removing hammocks promote safety? A line for Pelican Plunge? Ugh.
Where did you see masks needed on tram. It specifically said no masks needed on island. On the website all it says is

Trams
Cleaning measures have been enhanced and seating has been modified to help promote physical distancing.
