DCL Disney Magic At Sea UK Residents Only Sailing Summer 2021 General Information

yep I know, technically if you don't drink alcohol, dont buy any of the specialty coffee, don't go to Palo and dont get any popcorn or snacks at the kiosks, you would not have to pay any thing extra for any food or any drinks.

If you enjoy good food, whether or not you drink alcohol... I would advise you try Palo at least once. My family and I are all over 21, none of us drink alcohol and we always have to book Palo brunch and dinner - we love the food at Palo.

What if you're a bit of a picky eater? lol
Well, I wouldn't say "picky" ... I'm just not a fan of veggies or any kind of strange meat (like liver or something like that *yikes*).

Yeah, explain that one. And you are not really hungry at the movies, as you have just eaten 3 mains and a Mickey Bar.

They do it because they can. The sense of smell is so tied to memory. And popcorn has such a distinct aroma. I think it evokes strong memories of a lifetime of trips to the theater.

I am stronger, though. I can wait for pizza after the movie. And maybe just a small soft-serve on deck while watching a different movie on the Funnelvision screen. All before midnight, though, because the carriage returns to a pumpkin and they roll up the sidewalks (not kidding, it becomes a ghost ship and nothing is happening. Go to bed, Cabanas opens for breakfast in about 7 hours.

I bring my own movie theatre snacks (candy) onboard with me. It’s totally acceptable. You are also allowed 2 bottles of wine or one six pack of beer per adult to be brought onboard and consumed in your cabin. Of course this was the rule pre COVID-19. Hopefully it will still be the case.

If your happy with Chicken/Beef/Pork/fish of any kind you'll be fine, there is always at lest one option of all of them and a vegetarian dish. Also if you like chicken tenders/pizza/burgers/pasta you're good. I'm a picky eater. I've had steak and chips ever night if I wanted or even chicken tenders and chips/burgers/pizzas in the main dining room, if it's not on that nights menu but on the ship somewhere they'll get it for you. Or you can eat in the buffet resturant if that's where you're more comfortable.

I also have a food allergy which is quite obscure and DCL is amazing at catering around it and are one of the only places where I haven't felt like I'm being judged as ridiculous or picky for asking things around it.

I would be surprised if you could go hungry on a Disney Cruise

Its now 11.15pm UK time on Thursday April 15. This is an update on what happened today. At about 3pm UK time a post went up on Disney Cruise Line Facebook page with new details of Disney Magic At Sea booking details and sailing dates. The post linked to a a website page which was offline. The post was online for about 15 minutes and was then deleted. Disney Magic At Sea overview page was not updated. The only information we still have at this time is that booking will open on April 19 for sailings from Liverpool and Southampton.

To be fair, we do have one more official piece of information, and that is that Disney has cancelled a couple of early October Magic sailings out of New York, presumably because they would conflict with the UK sailings. Which does point toward that short-lived post showing an Oct 1 UK cruise being authentic.

I have eaten the same meal here many times: French onion soup, Farmhouse salad, Chateaubriand, and Creme Brûlée.

I consider myself an eater of somewhat plain food And this hits the spot. The filet in the Chateaubriand is usually a nice piece if beef. And unlike a typical restaurant, you don’t have to order it “for two.”

Lumiere’s is the fanciest decor restaurant on the ship, in the central atrium.

My favorite is the grand marnier souffle...can't wait until I can have it again...in 2022!

Those should give you an idea of the type of offerings at dinner. I expect them to include some British fare, either at lunch or dinner. When in Northern Europe and Alaska, they will modify the menu to include elements of regional cuisine.

The food line in Cabanas usually has grilled tomatoes, American bacon, link sausages, mushrooms, eggs (they will make them to order - find the omelet station; they can crack an egg and make it the way you like. Maybe not coddled or eggs and soldiers.

Again, they will be filling the walk-in refrigerators with food from British ports, so they may buy British bacon Or fish or ingredients for chicken tikka masala. They don’t have to cater to American tastes.

That is what that dining room is known for. I’m booked on the Magic at the end of Jan 2022, having recently moved it from Nov 2021. I just think it would happen.

Fingers crossed for all of us.

I wonder if the April 19 date will stay for the Liverpool/S'hampton cruises and the April 30 date will be for Newcastle/Tilbury. Saves them getting bombarded all on one day?

We last sailed on the Magic on the 2014 Transatlantic. It wasnt long after it had it's dry dock. I remember the Cove Cafe hadnt had a facelift - looked like an old folks home in comparison to the rest of the ship. Has it since had an update?

Also wonder about the food. Obviously the food is normally stocked from the US (Disney famous chicken tenders anyone?), and allegedly all the meat etc was USDA, even in the European sailings as this is what US passengers were happy with. I wonder how they will adapt - will there me new menus etc?

Cove Cafe was refurbished in 2018.

I did a Transatlantic crossing in a porthole room on Deck 12, midship. It’s location is basically the fulcrum in a rocker. And I enjoyed the close view of the water. Not everyone‘s cup of tea, though (no one category is).

Just to say there's no deck 12 on the magic so not sure you did do a Transatlantic on that deck. We you referring to a different ship?

I'm guessing no one has been able to book as Platinum or Gold yet?

Nope booking may not open now until 30th April

And u don’t need the vaccine to go. Is that right

my wife may not have had her second jab by then

No this is the biggest thing that I think we have no idea on. The website isn't clear either way. Most other big cruiselines are requiring both vaccines for over 18's at least but there are a few exceptions (MSc and Viking)

Any guesses to How much these cruises will be

we are planning the end of sept two adults and two babies 6 months old

im dreading seeing the prices

I looked at 4 night Caribbean as a price comparison and at the prices of lines like Virgin and Princess. I think it will be around £1500-£2000 for 2 adults for 3 nights and I think under 1 are free but not 100% sure.

All this talk is making me even more excited. We haven’t sailed for a few years and i’ve missed it! Like others I have tried so many new food that I would never have tried if I had of had to pay for an risk not having a meal I would enjoy. Here if i don’t like the new food my server will get me something else.
I’m hoping covid won’t bring too many restrictions and things like the shows are not affected. And that prices aren’t too silly!
What ports and how many nights is everyone looking at?

We really arent sure. Originally were going Tilbury or Southampton but the new dates change things

Trust me I don't like veggies but after cruising I'm always desperate for a side of veg as most of the meals seem to miss anything like that. There are some very standard things on the menu along with adventurous things and you can always find something to suite in my opinion
