I tried this a few years ago and it didn't work out so well, but I want to give it one more shot. To my knowledge, there is no website out there that compiles lists of music heard on the DCL cruises.

Apple killed the iMix thing a while back, but I would love to compile a running playlist (or multiple playlists) of music heard on the various cruises for all of us to share. I don't think this thread would qualify for "sticky" status, but hope it would be updated often enough to be a good resource for freaks like us.

I'm not talking about songs that remind you of the cruises, or get you in the mood for cruising, but music actually heard on the ships. So, if you would, please post songs you've heard on the cruises, artist name if you know it, along with your itinerary, and I will update this post so we all can make our own DCL playlists. Hopefully, it'll get some traction this time. Thanks!

While I remain interested in this for over 6 years now, I imagine you'll have the same results as I did and you already have had. Someone will post a link to the cruise "themed" playlist and that will be that. I once asked if they were playing the same tunes at sail away (which were old when I heard them )and received very little info. Either way, I hope u get somewhere cause I'm a-watchin

Yes, thank you! I tried to be clear that I am looking for actual music played on the ships.

Disney has tons of official albums focusing on park music; I don't know why they don't do one for DCL.

I will ask my significant other, he is really good at picking up all the different songs that are being played as background music. I assume that is what you are talking about, the music you can hear in the hallways? The one thing I remember is that there was definitely a different soundtrack for our Very Merrytime Cruise in 2014 compared to previous cruises, at least on sea days. And I remember that on one Caribbean port day we heard Cheeseburger in Paradise being played.

Right. "Margaritaville", "Cheeseburger in Paradise", anything from Bob Marley's "Legend" are all probably givens. The stuff you hear in Cabanas. The instrumental music you hear in the hallways. Etc.

When can I see you again by Owl City was at one of the ending dance parties on our recent Bahamas 4 night on the Magic. Not sure if it was the character party or the family dance party but my kids made me download it when I got home because "It reminded them of the ship". Not sure this is exactly what you are looking for, but...... ;)

As much as Owl City bugs me as a rip-off of The Postal Service, that is exactly what I am looking for. Thanks! :teeth:

Back in 2011 on our Alaskan cruise we heard quite a bit of same music played on our Caribbean/Bahamas cruises. Same with the 2015 Transatlantic. We did not notice much of a difference in the music when we were in Norway (except they brought on a live band to sing Abba songs).

Some songs we have heard recently (Transatlantic and Panama Canal):

Cha Cha Slide -
Cupid Shuffle - Cupid
Shut Up and Dance - Walk the Moon
Sailing Away - don't know if this is a Disney created song or by someone else but they sing it at sail away party
Clap Your Hands
a song about Minnie
YMCA
Shake your Tail Feather - from Chicken Little

Red Red Wine - UB40
Come Monday - Jimmy Buffett

We've never done the Sail-Away Party. It's not that old Styx song, is it?

On our October cruise from San Diego (Wonder) and December cruise out of Miami (Magic) they played Waka Waka (Shakira), Don't Stop the Party (Pitbull), and Feel this Moment (Pitbull) at the Sail Away Party.

One Direction - What makes you beautiful. Over and over and over. And Cupid Shuffle. I pretty much associate both of these songs entirely with Disney cruises.

YES! All 3 of these! Now I can't get Waka Waka out of my head! ;)

They used to play the Beauty and the Beat steel drum album on the deck four walking track of the classic ships. Although, I seem to recall from my last cruise they had changed the music (perhaps because I was on an Alaskan cruise??).
