Well, we are back! We moved our cruise back to these dates...looking forward to catching up on what is in the thread!

Hubby (Tom)
Jordan (DD - will be almost 11 when we sail)
Aidan (DS - will be almost 11 when we sail)

We will also be sailing ON DH's birthday.....

Welcome Back!! I will get you added on the roster! I would imagine they could try out both (Edge and Oceaneer's?) and then pick one, I've heard they just do not want children going into both...My daughter will be 13.5 years old at that point and really wants to be in the Vibe with her sister and brother...but I think she'll try out both Edge and Vibe just to see..she's the baby so sometimes she likes to be on her own for a change

It is very quiet, still hopeful they will offer specials for this cruise. When we took the Mediterranean cruise they offered specials about 6 months out and to keep others who had booked early from being upset, they sent everyone in the travelling party a $100 on board credit. The amazing thing was that we booked the special AND they gave us the OBC...we were in a small window of folks who got both...I'm hopeful...any extra funds would be a nice bonus in this hard economy!

Getting excited, Malacajo reminded me it's less time to our cruise than to have a baby! Let's hope I lose weight rather than gain it b/w now and then!

Welcome back This thread is a little quiet but some great folks on here already. So your kids are twins then? My oldest son will actually be 13 when we go so it will be his last year in the Edge - can't believe it!

Yes, my kids are twins. I really hope they can go to Edge. On our last 2 cruises they wanted nothing to do with the Lab. I think DS is looking forward to the Scavenger Hunt.

Oh, I would be SO excited with additional OBC or something similar. We got the 10% discount for booking onboard and OBC from Disney as well as our TA, but any additional funds would be great!

I have been working at losing weight as well...down 20 lbs, have about 10 more to go to be where I'd love to be, and then it will be trying to keep that off until the cruise (and ON the cruise!).

We have been doing a LOT of Disney trips, this will definitely be the last for a while, the budget just can't take another one anytime soon, but I also want to do this one before it's even harder to take them out of school.

Of course, I'm sure I'll book a dummy date on the ship...just in case.

Welcome! I can't answer this, there has been lots of chatter about this topic on the boards lately. I am hoping my kids will be able to go to the Edge when we sail, they will be 3 1/2 months shy of being 11 when we sail.

When we sailed previously, they were a month shy of being able to go to the Lab and they got bumped up, but not sure if that will happen this time or not. I hope so as DS liked the "out and about" activities listed in the Navigator for the Edge.

Welcome!! We are in the same boat! My daughters are very close (just 13 months apart)..one will be 14.5 and one will be 13.5...from what I am reading right now they are cracking down and making it fairly clear that they MUST be the right age to be 'allowed' in...there was a lawsuit this past year and they are trying to crack down on 'allowances'...maybe over time it will lax a bit, but I am telling my kids they will have to stay in their own age group and if they get to move up..then it would be a perk...

We had an AMAZING time during our B2B and enjoyed the most beautiful weather, no rain at all, which was kind of strange for late September in the tropics I won't complain though. This one will be our 5th Disney cruise and will become Gold Castaway Club members .


I look forward to getting to know you all before our cruise and to sailing with you all aboard BEAUTIFUL Disney Fantasy.

We had an AMAZING time during our B2B and enjoyed the most beautiful weather, no rain at all, which was kind of strange for late September in the tropics I won't complain though. This one will be our 5th Disney cruise and will become Gold Castaway Club members .

How did you like the Dream compared to the original ships? I am still a little wary that they will seem too big compared to the Wonder & the Magic. I am hoping for NO rain for our cruise! We haven't had the best weather on our past 2 cruises (late November and early December) so hoping the sun will be shining on this cruise!

This thread seems to be picking up a bit as we inch closer to our sail date, hopefully we will have more chatter on here as our countdown continues.

Congrats on becoming GOLD! have you done the Eastern before? If so, any recommendations on excursions?

I really liked the Dream, It is HUGE compared to the Magic and the Wonder especially the restaurants (Cabanas buffet is twice as big as the ones on the older ships) and other recreation areas, like kids clubs, nightclubs, shopping area, etc. Hallways are so long that it was quite a challenge to deliver our FE gifts BTW Animator's Palate show on the Dream is so much fun! Much better than the change from black & white to color on the older ships.

As for the exterior of the ship, we really like the Magic and the Wonder better,
IMHO they look much more elegant than the Dream. The Dream didn't disappoint us and I'm pretty sure the Fantasy will not disappoint you either.

We have done every Caribbean/Bahamas itinerary but the Eastern, so we are really looking forward to it! New ship and new itinerary, sounds great! huh?

We are not new to DCL... this will be cruise #16 .. I think. But the first for the Fantasy. We're both looking foward to searching out the ship. And the AquaDuck.... 2 big kids at heart.

I have been so busy with Christmas, kids, etc-basically just LIFE that I haven't been on the boards much-I need to have my excitement stepped a few notches again! Sept seems so far away, but I know it'll still be here before we all know it. All that my DH got for Christmas were "cruise clothes", nothing big, just shorts and t shirts, etc. I told him he was banned from wearing any of it before our cruise! I just keep hearing so many tell me how they got seasick from rough seas, etc. I'm a little nervous. This is our dream vacation, I know it'll never be perfect, but just praying for great weather and safe and happy times for all of us! Can't wait to see everyone at our meet and greet on Fantasy!! Our kids are not the only ones excited about Aquaduck!!!

out of all the days we've done...only one was abit rough. And that one was on the WBTA 2010, and it was only 1 day.

Rain... 4 days... total. Most of our cruises have been during hurricane season.

WELCOME!!! I think you're the nice family who gave me tips on skidoos or seadoos whatever they're called!! So excited that you're coming on this cruise! Do you all fly in a few days before to get adjusted to the time change? I think this will be an awesome cruise with GREAT weather!! And maybe we can have aquaduck meets
