I have some questions about booking a Disney Cruise using my DVC points.

1. Who or how is it determined what points are going to be used for your cruise?

2. Do the points that are needed have to be available when you book or when you Cruise?

3. We have two contracts for DVC, 160 pts for AKV June UY and 100 pts for BLT June UY. Can we use points from the AKV for one person and points from the BLT for another person?

Thanks for any help

We just booked a cruise for 2011, the points have to be availible when you cruise not when you book and you are the one that decides what points. Remember that at any given time you can use up to 3 years worth of points. So say you are going before June in 2011, you can use 2009 points, if you have any left, 2010 and 2011. If you are going after June you can use 2010, 2011 and 2012 but not 2009. We used all of our 2010 points and most of our 2011. Since we are cruising before our use year we could not use 2012 points. I am not sure but I think that where you points are doesn't matter since you are transfering them into DCL. Hope that helped and have fun!

I have a question...can you book a cruise and then at a later date decide that you want to use some points towards the cruise? How would that work?

You can only use points for a whole reservation (a person) not for part of a reservation. To do what you are talking about I would assume that you would have to cancel and rebook with points

If you book one adult with points and another adult and two children with cash, do you have to pay the entire booking in cash at once? Or do you just pay the deposit for the 3 cash passengers and then the remaining balance 90 days before departure? I know about the $95 booking fee to use points. Thanks!

All cash portions are due in full at booking (along with the $95) via credit card. One drawback, but if you are not booking too far out should not be a problem...

That's what I meant...use points for one adult and cash for the rest. Do I have to rebook the entire reservation?

No you would not have to rebook, when you book call MS and tell them you want to book one with points and the rest with cash. You will have to pay the $95 booking fee.
