Hello everyone. Can anyone give me some tips on booking DCL with DVC points? I have heard of people using DVC points for half of their party and paying for the other half.

How would this work if you did a booking on board for a future cruise?

I am hoping in the future to use DVC points to cut the cost of the cruise and hopefully be able to go longer or a back to back.

Any advice would be helpful. thanks!

You can't book a future cruise while on-board and use your points. You can call DVC within 7 days of disembarking a cruise and book a future cruise and receive an approx. 10% discount in the points needed. If you book a cruise through DVC, you have to use points for at least one passenger and there is a $95 transaction fee. If you pay cash for any passengers, that amount is due in full at the time the reservation is made.

While the DCL forums are a great place to get information about Disney cruises, the DVC forums are a better place to get information regarding using your points (even for cruises).

Hi Jenn, We just booked our first Disney Cruise. We actually rented our DVC points for this year and booked the cruise on cash. It would have cost the two of us almost 300 points for a stateroom with veranda. After renting 150 points, I'll end up owing only about $400 out of pocket - saving almost an entire years worth of points.

Thanks. I will have to post there as well. Thanks.
