Screamscape has a couple of updates to their rumors page this morning. The first pertains to the often talked about "Forbidden Mountain" coaster in Asia.

The latest good buzz about the Yeti coaster is that WDI is hard at work on building their final giant scale model of the attraction which is said to be around 7 feet tall and at least twice as long and full of very pointy and jagged looking peaks.

The other talks about the next possible additions to DCA after Tower of Terror.

A reader claims to have seen plans for a new two story ride building placed behind California Screamin’. This is all in a very early planning stage it seems (blue sky) but it appeared as if the top half floor of the building would have a Little Mermaid dark ride where guests would ride in giant clam shells, Peter Pan style, hanging from the ceiling with an entrance near the Carousel. If that wasn’t good enough news, the bottom half of the building would contain a new Buzz Lightyear dark ride.

The ‘Little Mermaid’ ride was supposed to be an opening day attraction for Euro Disney and was announced for both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom as part of the “Disney Decade”. The version at Euro Disney was killed early as part of the budget cut backs – and the others suffered the same fate as the rest of the Disney Decade after Euro opened. The ’20,000 Leagues Under the Sea’ attraction at DisneySea uses the ride system that was designed for ‘Mermaid’.

There are so many plans and proposals and ideas and quick fixes for California Adventure I would not be surprised at all for it to be trotted out again. But the “rumors” insist that there will be no major investments in DCA until after 2007. The current management is content to simply let the park rot in the sun long enough to make it someone else’s problem.

As for ‘Yeti’ (or as it's also called, Matterhorn on a Budget), the whisperings out this way continue to warn that the model may be the closet this attraction gets to being built. There are lots of “green lights” along the road and not all of them have changed yet.

Hey AV! What is the chance that Eisner and his evil minions will be gone in 2007?
