DC tourism question

strange for me to be asking a question about this instead of answering it, but...

has anyone ever been to DC during thanksgiving? my family will be spending thanksgiving here this year and they are interested in doing some touristy things, but i didn't know how crowded places would be the wednesday and friday around thanksgiving since i have never once stayed in the city for thanksgiving. thanks!

In my years there I never noticed it being a particularly hot spot for Thanksgiving.

My family did learn one year, though, that it is very hard to find dinner out on Thanksgiving night since everything closes. We ended up at a terrible Mexican place called El Zunzai in Northern Virginia after driving around forever!
