DH and I are planning to visiting Washington DC next summer. We going to be using my mom's time share to either stay at a hotel in DC or right outside in Alexandria. The one in DC is right on the metro line which would be really convenient. If we can't get that one and end up in Alexandria, how is it using the Metro from there into DC? The hotel says it's 10 minutes from DC but I assume that depends on traffic. I've been looking at maps from the Metro website but they are so confusing :confused3

Thanks! :thumbsup2

The Blue line goes to Alexandria (map). When I was there last March we took the Metro down to Old Town Alexandria from DuPont Circle with no problem.

The metro is SUPER easy to use-if you know your colors and can read that is :lmao:. We stayed in Alexandria when we were visiting DC and LOVED staying there. There is a lot to do right in Alexandria so when we came back from seeing the sights in DC those that wanted to stay in the hotel room could and those of us that wanted to do more, did.

Thanks for the link, that map is a little easier to understand.

No kidding. The maps I've looked at are so busy with information. From what I've read the hotel in Alexandria is right across the street from the Metro stop so hopefully it isn't too confusing.

We're from south Louisiana in a pretty rural area. The Metro system is very easy to use even for people like us who are not used to that type of public transportation. There's no way an underground system could be built here because of the high water table. We'd need something more like the old 20000 Leagues under the Sea ride.:goodvibes

We stayed in Embassy suites in Alexandria. It was right across the street from the Metro. I think the ride into Washington DC was more like 15 or 20 minutes. I guess it depends on which stop you get off at.

Also the one day there was a tea party rally going on. Oh my gosh the metro was so bad that day. It was packed so tight. At each stop more people kept getting on. If I had known it was going to be that bad we wouldn't have went into Washington DC until later that day! We couldn't move. My son got seperated from us from all the people pushing.
