We plan on going to DC the first week of December. I'm guessing it will be a bit chilly, but I understand we can wear wet suits. Just wondering if anyone else has experience going in December.

Also, must we use our SW ticket that week or could we save it for another time? We only have 4 days in the area, and we weren't sure if we'd have time for SW...but we know we get a ticket with our purchase of DC. Thanks!

In Dec. the temps can be anywhere from in the 60's down into the 30's....I don't think I would wear a wet suit it's just not usually that cold in the beginning of Dec.
I would wear a sweater and a medium weight coat with gloves, cause if your going in and out of the museums you don't want anything too heavy on. And I have no clue what SW is beyond Seaworld and we don't have any up here...Enjoy D.C. and don't forget to go see the Christmas trees across from the White house they are always interesting.

I don't think the previous poster realized you were talking about Discovery Cove not actually DC Washington!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyhow, yes they do have wet suits for you to wear! The come to the knee but otherwise are full! Dec can have chilly days, but when we were there we actually had a few days at about 72-74 but typically I think it is in the 60's or it can be colder! I did read on a weather website for the outlook for winter 2010 - 2011 that Florida is the place to be for winter vacations, as it is to have one of the best winters they have seen in years! Especially after last winter! We went in March, and fluctuating weather like you wouldn't believe!
As far as SW goes, you have to use it within 14 days, with your 4 days vacation that doesn't seem long does it! You can check with DC and see what they say, but I think that is what it is you have to use it within 14 days, eithier before or after DC!
Hope that helps!

Yes, I've been to Washington DC many times, and can't imagine wearing a wet suit! :goodvibes Thanks for the info...the last time we were at Disney was during a period of time that was cooler than normal. But, I guess since some of the pools are heated at Discovery Cove we should be okay.

The lazy river, and the main huge pool is very warm! It is the dolphin pools, stingray bay, and the coral reef pool on the cooler side! But not freezing! We were there in Feb and we just work the vests, not the wetsuits, but we had a nice day it was between 79 and 82 the day we were there!
We are going back in March 2011! Enjoy!

I'm laughing so hard at the idea of wearing a wet suit walking around DC that I have tears running down my cheeks! Had to read that second post to my DH and he's dying, too.

*sniff*

That said, I've been to DC in early December and didn't use the wetsuit. We we lucky and had a day in the low 70s. We're going back this December 5th taking different family members with us so we're hoping for another warm day.
