DC Area DISers..Meet?/World Figure Skating Championships/UPDATED..IT'S GETTING CLOSE!

Hi there DC DISers,

During the last week of March, World figure skating championships are being held in Washington, DC. I know of myself and at least 2 other DISers who will be attending. I was wondering if anyone would like to get together for a meet that week?? The link above should lead to the Event schedule for the week.

Maybe lunch? Somewhere near a Metro stop? Snoopy, what do you think would be a good spot??? A mall with a food court? Which day? I was thinking Saturday would probably be best?? The only thing on the schedule that day is the Ladies final at night and a practice session.

This would be my first meet!

Eileen Janice!! I KNEW you'd be here!! Yup. We did get our seats, but I can't remember right now where they are. Not the top level, I think somewhere in the middle

In 2003 I get the best of BOTH WORLDS, I get to do the skating in March and WDW in November.

There aren't really any malls in the city, unless you want to come over to my neck of the woods and go to Georgetown Park - but its a long walk from the metro. A nice place for a meet would be the Hotel Washington - its got a rooftop restaurant with a fabulous view of the city. Its on the Farragut West metro stop, not far from the skating show.

Oh goody!! Glad to hear from AirForceRocks AND Snoopy! And Honeywolf....so your last event is the ladies short?...or the free dance Friday night? Maybe we could meet Friday after the ladies short and before the free dance.

I'm thinking that there may not be enough time between the Ladies Short and the Free Dance for lunch, or just to late for lunch. I think the top 20 make it to the short. How about an early lunch or a late breakfast?

On Friday? I'm starting to think Friday is going to be a problem for most DC area DISers, besides the Worlds crew because of work. What do you guys think?

if people are doing lunch on friday i can make it (even though i have work). especially if it's at the hotel washington; that's like 4 blocks from where i work. i can basically take about 1 1/2 hours any time between 11-3.

i am not sure what the schedule is like for the skating thing but what about dinner if people can't do lunch?

Hi Caitycaity! The ladies short begins at 1pm. So Eileen's idea of an early lunch may just work!!

What time does the Hotel Washington start to serve lunch?
Also what is the best stop to get off for the MCI Center?
